excellent bbq. we have eaten at a ton of bbq places but i can honestly say booby-q has the best brisket we have ever had! it was incredibly tender and soooo juicy. also had the chicken, baby backribsand st. louis styleribswhich all came on the whole hog platter. every meat was excellent and tender. the bbq sauce was sweet but you can order a spicy instead but only 2 choices of bbq. there was a ton of food on the whole hog along with 3 sides for $40. the sides were just ok. we had the shoestring fries, veggies and coleslaw. nothing to write home about there. you also get corn bread at the start of the meal which was warm and moist but nothing out of the ordinary. at the end of the meal they give you a bag of donuts to go which were very good with a cinnamon/sugar coating. definitely make time to go here as we will definitely be back next time in phoenix.

fall off the bone ribs!. my husband and i went to bobbyq's for his birthday looking specifically for bbq ' ribs. we had 3 types to choose from and he decided on the beef and st. louis ribs. the beefribswere a little too greasy for my taste, but the st. louisribswere perfectly smoked, flavorful and fall off the bone tender! we'll be back for sure.

this is a great (but noisy) spot for dinner and it was in a convenient location – just a short walk from our hotel in north phoenix. my husband and i ordered a 3 meat combination bbq platter (smoked beef brisket, st louisribsand pulled pork) to share. it came with cornbread and a couple of sides (broccolini and coleslaw). the cornbread and sides were tasty and the meat was cooked to perfection. the portion was so generous that we couldn't finish it. the service was excellent and the prices were reasonable. the free fresh mini doughnuts that came with our bill at the end of the meal were frighteningly delicious!

tried bobby-q for dinner one evening while out in phoenix. tried a platter with brisket, baby-back ribs, beef ribs, chicken, potato salad, beans and mac & cheese.

absolutely everything was covered with a very thick blanket of sauce. do you know what that means? it means you are only supposed to taste the sauce because the meat probably doesn't have enough flavour to stand on its own.

everything we ordered was overcooked. i don't blame the restaurant for this as they probably make it that way to please the public which generally doesn't know any better.ribsaren't supposed to "fall off the bone" if cooked properly, but they certainly do here. they cooked the absolute living hell out of everything we received.

what they fall short on in meat quality they try to make up for in quantity. there is absolutely no chance you will leave this place hungry. there is no chance you will leave this place without a doggy bag or without eating more food in a single sitting than the human body was ever designed to.

where they go wrong with the meat, however; they get right with the sides. the sides were fantastic. the beans, potato salad and mac & cheese were no joke. they were very, very tasty. giving full respect where it's due.

if smoking your own meat isn't your thing you will probably really love this place. if you enjoy making your own than steer clear in order to avoid disappointment.

one word...amazing!!!! i thoroughly enjoyed my evening at qs.
it started with the cornbread while we waited for our food. tasty, warm, and fresh cornbread with some added butter on top! one of the best i've ever tasted!
i ordered the full rack of baby backribswith a side of veggies and mac and cheese. first the veggies were fresh! for some weird reason i though maybe they would have been frozen but i'm glad they weren't. theribscame straight off the bone. the bbq sauce was sooo perfect just melted on the meat.
now, the mac and cheese...best i've ever had in my life!! trust me when i say next time i go, my two sides will both be mac and cheese! it was so creamy, well cooked l, great flavors and a nice little crunch on top.
i also had a glass of their house beer, bobbyq amber ale, which they brew in tucson. i usually do lighter, like a wheat beer but this was great - good after taste as well.
the service from our waiter was great! he gave us a sample of their beer to try and made sure we were good as first timers. during our meal the manager came over and asked if we were good and if our food tastes alright. he heard we were new in town and asked how we found out about the place. told him zomato!
go check it out people!!

we love barbecue and bobby-q is one of the best we've had. flavorful, fall off the bone tender and portions enough to fill even the hungriest appetite or take home for tomorrow. must order: the hot spinach dip appetizer (it's amazing). they have the best mac & cheese, and shoestring potatoes. our favorite meats are the shortribsand brisket. although my guess is that everything on the menu is as good as those we've tried personally. the service is fast and friendly but you will definitely want to make a reservation as many people know how good the food is here and there can be quite a wait without one.

melt in your mouth ribs. not sure why it took us so long to learn about this place - recently highly rated nationally in the ny times - but at last we heard and tried, and it was two thumbs way up! theribsand brisket were the tops of the night - we ordered the sample with two ribs, two meats and 3 sides. the st. louisribsand baby backs both were perfectly booked and bathed luxuriously in an excellent barbeque sauce - hot for me. very friendly service, and lots of happy people. joe's in gilbert and bobby q in phoenix... two great reasons to live in the valley of the bbq sun. highly recommended!

great food/great service. i went to bobby q's because of the reviews and i was looking for a good place to eat to celebrate my birthday. i'm new in town so i had to depend on the diner reviews to make a choice and i wasn't disappointed choosing bobby q's. i ordered the baby backribsand as other reviewers said they were awesome! i learned from phillip (the waiter) that they cut, age and smoke all of their meats. the flavor of theribswas tangy-sweet. not to sweet and not to tangy with just the right amount of char. the sides were moderate and typical of a bbq place with the exception that there is an upcharge if you want a salad instead of one of the sides. the food came extra fast and was served piping hot and had plate appeal. their signature cornbread was baked to perfection with a slight crust to the outside and moist on the inside and is served with whipped butter------yum! the staff was knowledgeable and courteous and the manager even paid a visit to the table to see how things were going. i thought the food was priced well. for 2, we spent 40.00 including the 20% tip. they also honored the 10% discount from 'urbanspoon', i just had to mention i saw 'bobby q's' on urbanspoon. i would definitely go back again!

excellent q!. i was thrown off at the beginning of my meal with the light smoking of my ribs, but grew to enjoy them emmesly. i had a full rack of baby backribsthat were truly great. i also had the sides of corn which was very tasty and coleslaw which was average.

overpriced, underdelivers. it's always a bad omen when you pull up to a bbq joint and can't smell any bbq.
such is the case with bobby-q.
i will start with the good points. i want to roll around naked in a pile of their cornbread and would ask to be buried with the mac & cheese. the preparation of the st louis styleribsis nice.
however...the sauce on all of the meat sucks. the regular and the spicy are thin and just glorified ketchup. there is little smoke flavor in any of the meat. the brisket left my entirely carnivorous husband slightly grossed out. he left over half of his sandwich, which should be noted in some kind of journal somewhere, as it is totally unheard of. the pulled pork was mushy and lacked any kind of smoke.
the shoestring fries were cold and greasy and the onion brick, while nicely seasoned, left a pool of grease on the plate. expensive. overhyped. we will not be back

the place is real nice. service was great. although i prefer a bit more smoke flavor in my barbecue this place does a good job. we ordered choice of tworibsand two meats. baby back and beefribsboth very tender with a hint of smoke. we all prefered the brisket so we got both portions brisket. the ranch beans were alright. i'd eat them again but wouldn't stop just for them. the mac n cheese was excellent you better like cheese if you order thar. overall a excellent meal. the plate cost $38.00 but it fed 3 and we had plenty of leftovers. the corn bread was course and fell apart i've had better much better.
