excellent bbq. we have eaten at a ton of bbq places but i can honestly say booby-q has the bestbrisketwe have ever had! it was incredibly tender and soooo juicy. also had the chicken, baby back ribs and st. louis style ribs which all came on the whole hog platter. every meat was excellent and tender. the bbq sauce was sweet but you can order a spicy instead but only 2 choices of bbq. there was a ton of food on the whole hog along with 3 sides for $40. the sides were just ok. we had the shoestring fries, veggies and coleslaw. nothing to write home about there. you also get corn bread at the start of the meal which was warm and moist but nothing out of the ordinary. at the end of the meal they give you a bag of donuts to go which were very good with a cinnamon/sugar coating. definitely make time to go here as we will definitely be back next time in phoenix.

whole hog heaven, for real!. ordered the "whole hog heaven". $44.00. includes 2 types of ribs, st.louis & baby backs.brisket& pulled pork. cole slaw, beans, shoestrings & cornbread accompanied.
huge mountain of meat. generous portions could handle 4 easily.
ribs were tender, tasty & meaty.brisketwas the champ though. large portion, very little fat, yet moist & succulent.
conrbread..outstanding, rest of the sides were good.
service was attentive, and efficient. mgr came over and helped us pack up the leftovers (plenty!) had not been here in years, we live far se, but we'll be back.
this is now our favorite bbq place in phoenix, and we love some bbq!

mostly very good!!!!!. all the meat we tried was fall apart tender and laced with sweetness but not too much. most people out there will love thebrisketas my husband did. thebrisketwas falling apart tender and very succulent. for me it was too succulent with too much fat but that is exactly how my husband likes it. i thought the coleslaw was good i liked how fresh and crispy it was and not dippy. however i didn't like the macaroni and cheese because the noodles were too soft and the cheese tasted like velveta to me but i know many people like it that way. they smoke the meats with mesquite wood. everything is made in house and they give you complimentary johnny cakes with soft butter to start with and fresh made thank "q" cinnamon sugar donuts for dessert. the decor is very old fashioned but interesting. this is a large place and does have an outside patio. service was fast and efficient.

melt in your mouth ribs. not sure why it took us so long to learn about this place - recently highly rated nationally in the ny times - but at last we heard and tried, and it was two thumbs way up! the ribs andbrisketwere the tops of the night - we ordered the sample with two ribs, two meats and 3 sides. the st. louis ribs and baby backs both were perfectly booked and bathed luxuriously in an excellent barbeque sauce - hot for me. very friendly service, and lots of happy people. joe's in gilbert and bobby q in phoenix... two great reasons to live in the valley of the bbq sun. highly recommended!

thought this place was great! not a huge bbq fan but was totally impressed by the food. for an appy, thebrisketdeep fried in a roll had so much flavor. had the southern fried chicken with gravy, delicious. and not your run of the mill chicken fried steak either. the coleslaw with pecans was very good as a side. mac and cheese side good as well. service was outstanding! we will be back!

overpriced, underdelivers. it's always a bad omen when you pull up to a bbq joint and can't smell any bbq.
such is the case with bobby-q.
i will start with the good points. i want to roll around naked in a pile of their cornbread and would ask to be buried with the mac & cheese. the preparation of the st louis style ribs is nice.
however...the sauce on all of the meat sucks. the regular and the spicy are thin and just glorified ketchup. there is little smoke flavor in any of the meat. thebrisketleft my entirely carnivorous husband slightly grossed out. he left over half of his sandwich, which should be noted in some kind of journal somewhere, as it is totally unheard of. the pulled pork was mushy and lacked any kind of smoke.
the shoestring fries were cold and greasy and the onion brick, while nicely seasoned, left a pool of grease on the plate. expensive. overhyped. we will not be back

the place is real nice. service was great. although i prefer a bit more smoke flavor in my barbecue this place does a good job. we ordered choice of two ribs and two meats. baby back and beef ribs both very tender with a hint of smoke. we all prefered thebrisketso we got both portions brisket. the ranch beans were alright. i'd eat them again but wouldn't stop just for them. the mac n cheese was excellent you better like cheese if you order thar. overall a excellent meal. the plate cost $38.00 but it fed 3 and we had plenty of leftovers. the corn bread was course and fell apart i've had better much better.

lip smackin' good. we got take out from the 'back door' to-go side so i have no clue what the restaurant looks like but the food speaks for itself. we picked up a half pound of beefbrisketand a half pound of pulled pork, ranch beans and the pecan cole slaw, with cornbread. yummy to the nth degree. the sauce is sweet and mildly spicy. the pecan slaw had great flavor, creamy but not overly so. the ranch beans sweet and swimmin in sauce with bits of meat. yum!
