zorba's

it was team lunch and we chose thisrestaurantto celebrate our colleagues b’days. it was a greek and italianrestaurantoffering great dishes. it was quite empty. we got the table back at the restaurant. i must say our server was well courteous, patient and ready to answer whatever silly question we asked. we ordered 7-8 dishes which includes following

homemade lamb burger-i had it and i must say it was a big chunk of fat lamb juicy patty. quite delicious

buffalo chicken sandwich- it was also good

chicken shish kabab- first i wanted to try this, but one of my colleagues had it and he said it was good.

other folks had steak & cranberries salad, tuna, fish chips, falafel wrap and other dishes and it was all good. only thing was after order, they took almost 40 minutes to serve. never mind food was good and we enjoyed it.

yup one more thing- we ordered from the lunch menu and all item was under $10 so it was well under budget so definitely recommended for lunch and we would definitely come back for lunch.

i enjoy greek food and zorba’s greekrestaurantprovided the fix for my greek food attack.  our family pounded down the appetizers; saganaki (greek cheese flambé - very well done), spanakopita (spinach pie in flaky pastry) & dolmades (grape leaves).  plus, they had the best warm bread.  

for the main course, we were treated to delicious eggplant parmigiana & chicken cooked in pastry.  the kids enjoyed the pizza & pasta.  zorba’s is not bashful about the amount of food that they serve.  all of our dishes contain immense amounts of food.  you will not walk away from zorba’s hungry or with a clean plate. 

zorba’s strength is its food.  the atmosphere is average, but the food will knock your dining experience out of the park.

very impressed. i just went to zorba's for the first time after seeing the positive rating. thisrestaurantnot only does not disappoint but exceeded my expectations. first off, the ambiance is great. it really looks like a nice restaurant, and the music is upbeat and softly playing in the background. it is great for a date night or an enjoyable evening with a group of friends. the service is also amazing, very polite, there when you need them, and they don't pressure you to box up your food before everyone is done eating. i had the dolmades avgolemono, which is meat and rice wrapped in grape leaves and covered in a creamy lemon and chicken flavored soup and it was amazing! if you are not feeling that adventurous, that's okay too! my companions had a gyro plate and chicken shis kebabs which were also incredibly delicious. it is also very reasonably priced and the portions are quite large.

splitting a meal. i have always been a big fan of zobra's but i have to admit on our recent trip i was not impressed with the service. my dad and i met for lunch and we ordered the pastitsio entree. we asked if they would split it for us. the waitress seemed annoyed that we were doing this and said they don't like for people to split meals. when she brough the dish out, it was not split for us as they have done for me in the past and we had to request an extra plate.

we split the meal ourselves and were extremely happy with the food (its the best pastitsio around), but were taken back when our receipt had a a $2.00 split fee attached to it. i can understand the charge if they split the meal for us but not when we were given an attitude, no extra plate and had to split the meal ourselves.

everyone in my family always splits meals because portions everywhere are entirely way too big. my grandparents split meals, my parents split meals and so does my husband and i. this is the firstrestaurantthat has given us a hard time about this and tapped on a fee. needless to say, i was really unhappy with the service.

wonderful!. this is my favoriterestaurantin richmond, by far. i cannot recommend zorba's enough and always bring in friends who are traveling through the area so that they can have a dining treat. i have truly never been anything other than thrilled with my order, and i have cycled through most things on the menu. the service is top-notch, the decor is relaxing and attractive, and the atmosphere lends itself to a perfect dining experience. i visit at least once a week and it's always more than worth it! :)

new world. i walked into this fine establishment expecting for good food, only to find...that it was extremely tasty and i wouldn't change a thing about it. i get so full every time that i have to get a box in which i proceed later on to finish that same day. i highly recommend thisrestaurantif your looking for good food at great prices.

better than before. this is what mom and poprestauranthas to offer westend.we loved our saturday night dinner.great service also.we will be back regularly..

bestrestaurantever!!!. this is one of the best restaurants i've ever been to in va. first of all the menu is amazing. it has so many different options (greek, italian, american, seafood, salads, chicken, lamb, veal, beef) so anyone can find something to eat. it's not like some restaurants where there are 10 choices and they are basically the same. second the service is great. the wait staff is so sweet. third the remodel looks so nice! it is beautiful! not sure why anyone would want to go anywhere else!!!!

today i had the delicious "rockfish" with lemon butter sauce and broccoli and mashed potatoes gourmet style. it way first having this and really it was exquisite!!!! i highly recommend it.

there is something about thisrestaurantthat it just makes me feel like i'm dinning in arestaurantin new york. the food is out if this world. the staff is so friendly and they really make you feel good. they are so warm in welcoming their old and new customers. i'm really grateful that they are back in business. to me best familyrestaurantin all richmond!!!

ever since reopening, the food at zorba's has gone tremendously downhill. will miss my favorite greekrestaurant:(

therestaurantwas comfortably full and service was prompt. we’re glad to see it back and better than ever.

everything about the new zorba's is great! i was so worried that after a year of being closed, the food might not taste the same, but it was wonderful. i love the blue cheese dressing, it's the best home made dressing i've ever had. the rolls are warm and delicious, the seafood fra diavolo was spiced to perfection. the tiramisu had to come home with us. what a great familyrestaurantin a land of boring chains!

a west end treasure. these days there are so few great family run restaurants, but zorbas is one of those few gems. from the moment you enter therestaurant,you feel like you are at home. the waitresses are some of the most friendly in richmond and the service is superb! but,let's get to the food. first of all you are served zorbas' hot homemade rolls which are wonderful. the menu is large and whatever you order is excellent. their greek salads,veal ,chicken,and other greek specialties are delicious. if you like seafood,their seared tuna and talapia dishes are some of the best in richmond. and to top all of this off,the prices are reasonable and you will walk out feeling you certainly got your money's worth but most of all you'll be planning your return visit. bon appetit !!!!!

memorable meal with warm service. my husband and i were traveling from d.c. to florida, and being a former vcu/mcv grad, we decided to stop in richmond for old times' sake, craving a satisfying mediterranean meal. we found zorba's on urban spoon and were pleasantly surprised to have one of the best meals we've had in the last six months. we started with the grape leaves and spanakopita, which were both well done and surprisingly light. the spanakopita had a wonderfully authentic but still unique mix of herbs and lemon that made the dish sing. after two very good salads we moved onto the entrees. my husband and i both love lamb, and we were not disappointed by our entrees - the classic gyro for me and a special kebab for him called lamb yogurtlu. the lamb yogurtlu kebab was literally the best lamb dish i have ever tasted. better than dishes i paid $50+ for at high end steakhouses. it was rich in spices with tangy tomatoes worked into the sauce and a thick piece of delicious bread underneath to soak up all the yummy sauce.
in addition to an incredible meal, the service was outstanding. the place was packed, so we had to sit at the bar, but our waitress was not any less attentive, making kind conversation and checking in on us frequently. the owner chatted us up as well - a delightful person! - and was so tickled by the fact we found hisrestaurantonline that he treated us to free dessert - a delicious homemade rice pudding. we also ordered the baklava, equally delicious. there were so many people there that were obviously regulars, it felt like richmond's version of cheers.
i can't wait until we are back in the richmond area to eat there again! i will be first in line for the lamb yogurtlu!!
