zorba's

it was team lunch and we chose this restaurant to celebrate our colleagues b’days. it was a greek and italian restaurant offering great dishes. it was quite empty. we got the tablebackat the restaurant. i must say our server was well courteous, patient and ready to answer whatever silly question we asked. we ordered 7-8 dishes which includes following

homemade lamb burger-i had it and i must say it was a big chunk of fat lamb juicy patty. quite delicious

buffalo chicken sandwich- it was also good

chicken shish kabab- first i wanted to try this, but one of my colleagues had it and he said it was good.

other folks had steak & cranberries salad, tuna, fish chips, falafel wrap and other dishes and it was all good. only thing was after order, they took almost 40 minutes to serve. never mind food was good and we enjoyed it.

yup one more thing- we ordered from the lunch menu and all item was under $10 so it was well under budget so definitely recommended for lunch and we would definitely comebackfor lunch.

i enjoyed my juicy lamb burger.

it's so good to be back!!. i used to live a few blocks from zorba’s and i was somewhat of a regular. i think i have tried almost half of that menu at some point. long story short; i moved to a different part of town and shortly after that, they had a fire. tonight is the first time i have beenbacksince they have reopened and it is even better than i remember. i would recommend a particular dish, but in all fairness, i can’t. you will be amazed at anything on the menu. oh, and the menu is pretty extensive so even if you go with a large group, everyone will find something they like. i must also mention that it is very reasonably priced. :)

the service was stellar and i really love what they have done with the place. it is beautiful! can’t wait to go back!

best tiramisu!. i have been here twice now and i have loved the food both times. the clams casino are perfect and well worth the 20 minute wait! the gyro platter is excellent and although i want to try something else on the menu i keep goingbackto the gyro!! the tiramisu is out of this world! you definitely need to try this place if you love greek food... opa!!!

splitting a meal. i have always been a big fan of zobra's but i have to admit on our recent trip i was not impressed with the service. my dad and i met for lunch and we ordered the pastitsio entree. we asked if they would split it for us. the waitress seemed annoyed that we were doing this and said they don't like for people to split meals. when she brough the dish out, it was not split for us as they have done for me in the past and we had to request an extra plate.

we split the meal ourselves and were extremely happy with the food (its the best pastitsio around), but were takenbackwhen our receipt had a a $2.00 split fee attached to it. i can understand the charge if they split the meal for us but not when we were given an attitude, no extra plate and had to split the meal ourselves.

everyone in my family always splits meals because portions everywhere are entirely way too big. my grandparents split meals, my parents split meals and so does my husband and i. this is the first restaurant that has given us a hard time about this and tapped on a fee. needless to say, i was really unhappy with the service.

great time!. originally went to the greek festival in richmond but too crowded. someone told us about zorba's in the west end. had to try it for their greek food. had a great time. place was packed but had no problem with our service. everything was great, food,service, people there making us feel welcome. would deffinately go back. it has now become one of our best places to eat. the food presentation was fantastic. can't wait to gobackand try some of the great looking food i just had no room for. prices were much better than we thought we were going to pay.more enough food and the fresh baked bread a real treat.

great food but waitstaff needs training. my dh and i went there last night for dinner and thought the food was great. this was our first timebacksince they reopened after the fire. there was a slight wait for dinner but the bar had seats available and i don't think we even waited a full 20 minutes for a table.

once seated we struggled a bit with our waitress. 1st we asked her if she had a favorite veal or lamb dish. instead of just saying she didn't have one, she proceeded to tell us she didn't eat baby animals. while i certainly appreciate that she's entitled to her opinion, maybe paying customers asking for a recommendation is not when you choose to express it. then after taking our orders, she had to comebackand ask me again what i had ordered. she had a notepad, not sure how she forgot to write it down.

the food was great! the dolmades were delicious and i really appreciated having anchovies on my greek salad. i ordered the seafood fra diablo and it was full of clams, mussels, scallops and shrimp. i found the sauce nicely spicy and the noodles were perfect. i will definitely be back!

superb superb superb!!!! this is my fifth visit so far and i will bebackagain! whatever you try is amazing ! do not try to start your main course without trying lamb dish appetizer. i recently moved from new york and zorbas is the only place in richmond which gives me a vibe of "big apple"!excellent service and personal attention by the owner makes you feel like a family!way to go zorbas!

better than before. this is what mom and pop restaurant has to offer westend.we loved our saturday night dinner.great service also.we will bebackregularly..

zorba's great food! bad service always. they have the best chicken a la greek we ever had! always get it. havent beenbacksince the fire. went for years there all the time. the servers always have an attitude and act like you are doing them a favor by being there. and the worst part the short owner is a real jerk! would come around and talk to everyone but us. on purpose after spending an avg of $75 each time we were there for years. nice huh?

today i had the delicious "rockfish" with lemon butter sauce and broccoli and mashed potatoes gourmet style. it way first having this and really it was exquisite!!!! i highly recommend it.

there is something about this restaurant that it just makes me feel like i'm dinning in a restaurant in new york. the food is out if this world. the staff is so friendly and they really make you feel good. they are so warm in welcoming their old and new customers. i'm really grateful that they arebackin business. to me best family restaurant in all richmond!!!

the restaurant was comfortably full and service was prompt. we’re glad to see itbackand better than ever.

awesome. so glad they arebackin operation, missed it. the best all around with everything. the new setup is lavish and the staff are the best you can get in service. know the owner and a lot of the people that work there and they're all great. i would recommend a dish but you should try them all! not to mention they also have a great alcohol selection. go there now!

so glad they'rebackopen. zorba's was closed for so long we were thinking it wouldn't reopen! but the remodel is complete and we went for new year's eve. we had reservations at 530-700 and showed up at 515. were seated promptly and quickly addressed by waitress. beautiful decor, food was awesome, owner was personable and sat down to talk to us in the middle of dinner. our only complaint was that all of the food came out way too fast, but the server apologized saying the kitchen just wanted to make sure they didn't have a wait on food times, because the place was packed. food & atmosphere great, will definitely go back.

amazing new years dinner at zorba's. i was visiting from hawaii for new years and wanted some simple greek food for dinner but what was i thinking? i ended up with an amazing experience.

i would have been happy with some lamb with yogurt sauce, greek salad, and maybe some pita and hummus - which they do have on their menu. but what was i thinking? they quickly brought us the most fresh and hottest (burn your mouth hot) buns that warmed you up for the entrees.

the general manager, mehmet, is a very friendly and charismatic man who happily "suggested" the best menu items catered to our group. the deal was that if we didn't like the food, it would be on the house! unfortunately, it was amazing, so we paid...what was i thinking?

we ended up feasting on a banquet of mussels marinara, tossed seafood (our favorite), saganaki, and doner kabab special.

the service was on par with the comfort and satisfaction of the food.

i highly suggest dining at this greek & italian cuisine. i hope to make itbackhere again soon. wait what am i thinking...i will bebackagain.
