added bonus: the rumor was that cal ripken was in my seat right before we were seated.

i’m very happy that blue pit bbq, a short walk away, wasn’t open as advertised. in search of something good to eat, i opted for woodberry kitchen, and happy i am. friendly and fast service teams up with fantastic local food. i had the country ham and eggs served over toast with potatoes and a cheese sauce. delicious. thick sliced ham with eggs over easy. the potatoes were crispy on the outside and tender and fluffy on the inside. eat here.

favorite so far in b'more. i just moved here in august and so far woodberry is my favorite restaurant by far. not only is the atmosphere chic and cool and the service warm and friendly, but the food is simply outstanding. everything is fresh as can be and perfectly prepared. the menu changes, but i highly recommend the "snack" of deviled eggs. frankly, give me six of them and that could be the meal for me . . .so so good. we lucked out that we found this restaurant early on . . .the only problem is that everytime we want to go out to dinner, i find myself being pulled for a repeat visit.

described in one word: perfect. this may be the best place i've ever eaten. it's not just the food, which is beyond amazing, but the atomosphere, the waitstaff, and the drinks.
the food is outstanding. truly, it is so good my friends still talk about a dinner from last year. they serve the best popcorn i've ever had in my entire life, and i am a popcorn fanatic!!! yeah, popcorn as an appetizer...get it!!! the eggs with chopped ham are good, too.
every entree is amazing, but i have to say, of all things on their menu the best may just be....the hamburger!!! i have never tasted anything this good that was called a "burger". it's more like ground veal (yes, i know, boo veal...but it's tasty) on a roll that i would eat all by itself. after tasting some of the finest things they offer, everyone i went with was still raving about that burger!!!
the desserts are unique and creative and delicious. i had a chunk, yes a chunk, or dark chocolate on a crust of potato chips, with stout ice cream on top. it was rich creamy and the flavors mixed together better than even peanut butter and chocolate!
one last mention: the drinks!!! if you miss out on a cocktail here you will regret it! they are hands down the best thing i have ever had to drink. they use fresh, local ingredients, and they stand there and make everything by hand...not mixes, no prepared juices or herbs or anything...it's done when you order it. they are worth the price. choose a whiskey smash or a goverment mule and you will wonder why you hadn't been drinking this all your life.
the waitstaff is outstanding. they know their stuff and are eager to help. some of them are a little "too cool" in attitude, but hey, hipsters are everywhere. that would be my only complaint, that, because this place is so good, it attracts both the snooty uptown snob crowd and the rabid hipster crowd. but, i don't have to eat with them, so honestly, who cares. go here!!!

a lovely, if overpriced, experience. the food at woodberry kitchen is very, very good, but not out-of-this-world good- good like you'd come to expect from any fine restaurant. the thing you're paying for at wk isn't uniquely amazing quality- it's the lovely atmosphere, a creative menu, and ingredients that are always fresh and often locally sourced, so it's really hard to go wrong.

oh, my favorite time for woodberry kitchen is brunch. it is even better when the weather breaks and you can sit outside. they have a perfect combo of sun with umbrellas and trees for shade. plus, in the evenings, they have a fire pit, that adds some extra warmth and ambiance to sitting outside. we started with a drink – i had the trisaetum dry riesling, which we tasted in willamette valley. my friend got the bellini, and promptly switched to the wine. they don’t do citrus, since its not particularly local, but the bellini was sweet – honey plus a nectarine syrup maybe? the trisaetum is citrusy, with a lot of character that made it go great with every one of our courses. it’s a great spring wine… try it, even if riesling isn’t your go to wine. it’s not sweet, much more rich and fruit forward than your traditional rieslings.

sycophants. of course this is just my opinion but how sad is it that the nice setting and food policies cover up a working atmosphere of fear and recriminations as all the employees walk around on eggshells with a false smile on their faces and the very people claiming to have a "respect for the environment" seem to be lacking in compassion for human beings. over-scheduling the wait-staff to the point of exhaustion. calling in staff to risk their lives to show up during a severe blizzard...blaming staff for middle-management mistakes...etc...etc... the food is way overpriced, the average family couldn't afford to eat there. how is that "sustainable"? the "elite" clientelle are thinking the "green policies" make it a way to patron improved lifestyle choices...you know, making it a better world through better ecological choices but all the while the human beings working there are treated like automatons. how sad.
the so called "green" restaurant doesn't stand a chance. i predict an abrupt closing in the near future. (the owners have a history of this, don't they?) p.s. don't order the french toast at sunday brunch...i could have just as easily gone to a diner (and saved a little money) for that. i do admit the coffee was good.

this was my first time here and i came with some friends for brunch. first of all, it is almost impossible to find; after you drive through a few forgotten neighborhoods you find this tiny hipster gentrified oasis. although, i hear that the light rail has a stop a block away, so i would take that next time since parking is almost non-existent. they offer free valet to combat this problem, so there's a plus! the entry is also very hard to find and is a very unassuming door up some random steps between buildings. however, when you get inside the place is nicely appointed and very hip with lots of warm wood and lighting. there are a few tables on that main floor and more on the upstairs balcony area overlooking the main floor. there is also some outdoor seating and an outdoor bar for those warm summer nights. there is no outside view to speak of, though. the food is very modern, with local ingredients, and only slightly pretentious. they have a beautiful brick oven on the main floor and you can watch most of the food prep in their large open prep area. the front of house staff is dressed in hipster flannel and cuffed jeans. there is a moderately sized bar on the main floor, as well. moat disappointing for me was lack of allergen friendly foods. almost everything has butter or dairy, and they do not have any milk alternatives for their beautiful coffee drinks. shocking to me actually! so, i was forced to buy a $6.50 hot tea. overall, the food was delicious and servings were larger than expected. our server, nancy was pleasant. overall, worth the trip but due to the location and pricing i will not return personally.

it is a great place to party with your squad . the food here is quite delicious, filling and affordable too !

the ambience is nice. the only turn off was that i found out the staff here to be very rude and arrogant.

while my time at woodberry kitchen is often one of a great experience, my visit this past friday was not one i would like to relive and has me questioning whether or not i will be revisiting the establishment in the future and most importantly the area itself. understandably, there is not a lot of available parking near the restaurant. between the glass blowing factory, countless town-homes, law offices and architectural firms you’ll be lucky if you to find a parking spot and usually i would have parked valet, but it was full. so, i parked directly across from the town homes on the rock covered lot, populated with lots of other vehicles whom i'm sure belonged to people visiting the restaurant as well.  once inside i requested seating for two preferably outside. outside seating was going to be a thirty-minute wait, which was fine, its friday night and they have a great bar, so my guest and i sat at the bar until our table was ready. while at the bar a small group of four individuals was having drinks while waiting for a table to become available.  once their table it available the bartender notified a member of the group and mentioned that instead of closing the bill out at the bar for the drinks he could transfer it to their table, so that once dinner was finished they could pay for everything all at one time, so they opted to move their tab to the table. i thought to myself, “that's a great idea, i'll do that too, it will make everything a lot easier.” so, when the bartender came over to my guest and me to notify us that our table was ready, i was under the impression that he was going to offer us the same option, but he didn't. he made us aware that our table was ready and placed our bill in front of us. i thought to myself, that’s weird, but whatever i'll notify the person seating us to transfer the tab over to our table. i picked up the bill, and as i'm walking away, he says “did you want to pay here?”. i said, “no.” then he says, “oh, would you like me to transfer it to your table?”  the screen at in woodbury is not one that is very diverse, even though the neighboring communities are filled with minorities. you will not see many people there, aside from the staff that are minorities. so, being that my guest and i were two of this very few numbers of minorities present, the exchange at the bar didn't make me feel great.  we were seated, the waiter and meal were great, after paying we talked off your meal at the beautiful fire pit before heading back to the car. once at the car everything seemed fine until we got inside and noticed that someone had broken in and stole all of my belongings. i am familiar with the communities that surround this newly developed area which woodbury kitchen calls home, and i know that crime is a huge issue in those neighboring communities, which is why the closer you get to the restaurant the more you notice that the new housing developments have gated parking garages and everything is well-lit. it would be nice to have the same option in regards to parking when dining in the area; no one wants to finish their dinner to get back to their car and realize their personal belongs were stolen.  patrons want to come to an establishment where they feel safe and welcome and this past friday i didn’t feel either one of those things.
