i tried woodberry kitchen for dinner with my family about a year ago and thought it was wonderful, but i’ve also heard great things about their brunch . on a leisurely saturday morning some friends and i headed over to hampden to check it out. woodberry kitchen  is possibly one of baltimore’s most talked about restaurants. trip advisor ranks it as the #8 restaurant in baltimore. all the food is farm to table and woodberry kitchen prides itself on having a good relationship with local farmers in the area. woodberry kitchen for parking, they offer a free valet service which is always a nice amenity to offer. inside, the building used to be a warehouse but has been since been converted into a two-story restaurant. interior – photo credit google if you are a picky eater, coming to woodberry kitchen  for dinner might not be a great idea because the menu changes daily. however, the brunch menu is available online. i knew to make a reservation in advance so when we arrived at noon, while it w

i don't get the hype. woodberry kitchen was beyond disappointing. we heard great things but waited 20+ minutes for a table with reservations and felt like we were basically ignored once we sat down. the hard cider was in a tiny glass, the pickles and greek salad were peppery, and the noodles and veggies were completely inedible. not sure why the place is so busy since neither the service or food were good. i went home and ate dinner.

the food was great for brunch but the wait was 40 minutes beyond my reservation. why accept reservations if they can't be met?

visiting woodberry kitchen was an absolutely delightful experience. my boyfriend and i went for our anniversary and there was not one thing that either of us thought needed improvement. great atmosphere, great food, and fantastic service. our waitress's name was julia and she couldn't have been more helpful. we were both very indecisive while deciding what to order (how do you choose when everything looks so yummy?) and she was very thorough and enthusiastic when describing the dishes. we also didn't feel rushed at all. a major plus for me was that it wasn't ridiculously cold in the restaurant... i know it's weird, but im always freezing and uncomfortable in restaurants. the complementary valet parking was a nice feature as well. highly recommend. just make a reservation in advance!

i've been meaning to get to woodberry kitchen for a long time. it's quite a drive from where i live, and with so many excellent choices to be had in dc and it's close-in 'burbs, it's hard to justify making the trip to baltimore. i'm very glad i took the time to try woodberry kitchen. when i say, "if i were to open a restaurant.." i don't mean that i think i could do what he does here, i mean that i would try to emulate some of the things he does here and i'd be very happy if i even came close. this is a top-notch operation. i caught the owner, spike gjerde, while my dinner guest and i were having a little spiked winter punch by the fire pit. he seems like a genuinely nice guy. his attention to detail and philosophies on farm-to-table dining are well publicized and are at the forefront of his operations from the second you walk through the door. the service at his restaurant i

a good experience. dined here friday night and a really pleasant time. i had heard about these guys for a year now and decided to try them out. i love the fact that the menu features local foods.
i especially liked the cabbage slaw, spicy mustard and smoky potatoes. the drinks were reasonably priced and the ambiance was not overwhelming. all in all, a very positive experience and i will return!

anniversary dinner. my wife and had dinner at the woodberry kitchen last night. my wife was not happy with her meal but shared my overall impression. i had a gov't mule cocktail, sword fish salad, and the liberty tavern steak and corn bread pudding.

plus: the cocktail, salad and pudding we're fantastic! but the aroma and taste of everything from the cocktail to the maple latte were to die for.

negative: the liberty tavern steak was missing the eggplant and the steak was cold and tough. sparkling water was flat. the cocktail had too much ice in it.

overall - presentation, service, taste, and ambience were great. (a-)

can't wait to go back!. i just love woodberry kitchen. this is my fourth or fifth visit and every time, i'm truly delighted to return.
the ambiance, the service, the meal...all worth the wait to get in those doors.

we began our meal with a cocktail consisting of vodka, lemonade, watermelon and cucumber-incredibly crisp and refreshing. what i love most about their drinks is how seasonal and fresh they are. they don't overwhelm you with the taste of alcohol-yet you can taste the spirits as well as whatever is being mixed in with them. simply delicious.

my husband and i split some sort of a sausage plate for an appetizer. it was incredible. it was served with a cabbage slaw, spicy mustard and smoky potatoes. it was as though you could taste the smoke right from the grill. i couldn't get enough of it!

i opted for the crab cake and my husband-the meatloaf. the crab cake was superb. it was held together perfectly, with seemingly no binders and served with a tart vinegar based tartar sauce. a side of slaw completed the dish. and the meatloaf? amazing. wonderfully tender-served with roasted carrots and parsnips. i'm so lucky that we like to eat off one another's plates as we had the opportunity to sample two wonderful dishes for the night. i'm sure the next time around will be just as magnificent!

the restaurant features seasonal foods from local growers, and dishes of the chesapeake region. this is a true fresh farm to table restaurant! all dishes comes in relatively small plates which leaves you wanting for more!

between the rustic setting, the comforting atmosphere and the hearty-yet-refined food, my trip to woodberry kitchen felt worlds away from dc. i’m glad that washingtonian included it on the list – perhaps this will encourage other dc locals to make the journey up i-95 to discover all that baltimore has to offer. i promise it will be worth the trip. :)

a well-prepared dish always brings me to a happy place. wk’s marvesta shrimp out of the oven makes me joyful. the shrimp is brimming with flavor, with flecks of pepper and an underlying sauce spiced with horseradish, garlic, butter, and paprika.

was it worth it? in one word… yes! the food and atmosphere were exactly what we were looking for in a night out with friends. someplace slightly upscale without the pretentious snotty feel where we could sit, chat and enjoy each other’s company. our waitress was friendly and patient with our wine ineptness because well, i’m a dummy . the wine she selected for us was perfect! at first glance the menu seemed daunting but when you took a closer look it included many staple items with a fun, creative flare. here’s what i ended up ordering (some items shared.) fried pickles

really good food, but the wait is less than desirable. we had a 7:45 reservation and waited in a crowded vestibule for our table. took forever to get our cocktails. had to send my entree back to be rewarded. all in all the food was very good. randy our waiter was great. just a disconnect between the host staff and the woefully understaffed bar and kitchen staff. great experience though, and plan to go back.
