excellent local restaurant - like!. i was visiting springfield for work, just got to town and was hungry. drove down glenston ave and passed many japanese, chinese, and other asian restaurants (along with almost every damn chain restaurant in america). i stopped to check urbanspoon and found a japanesesushibar and grill called wayo.
walked in and was greeted very nicely by fred, the owner. he recommended somesushirolls, which came with some amazing wasabi cucumber pickles and miso soup. the rolls i had were sunset and 911 roll. very fresh, bright tasting, and wonderful ingredients.
this place has a great attitude towards food. they make almost everything from scratch!!! the wasabi pickles, from scratch. the teriyaki sauce, from scratch. the korean bbq ribs, from scratch. it is this type of passion with food that you don't anymore. restaurants are always cutting corners, buying canned sauces and frozen pre-made dishes. not wayosushibar and grill.
i can't wait to return and try the korean bbq ribs and beef bulgogi!
