uptown cafe

love the blackboard specials. especially at breakfast. huevos rancheros are fantastic, as are any pancakes they have on special. not as crazy about the flavors at dinner, but that is just a personal preference about cajun seasonings and sausage.

the gorgonzola crusted filet is the best steak i've ever had.

one of my favorite bloomington restaurants. i have not tried their sunday brunch yet but all of their other menus are great. service is pretty much always great and the bartenders are awesome.

my new favorite spot to come in bloomington. the bar is immaculate; the wait staff are top of the line and they provide that class loo the place strives for. the soccer games on tv are always great and on at the cafe. overall, i'd say this place a perfect 5/5 rating

enjoyed a lovely saturday brunch at the uptown cafe with a colleague.

we got warm cappuccinos and then also got a poinsettia and belinda for drinks. as for brunch dishes we got a smoked salmon benedict and the chorizo and eggs.

enjoyed all the flavours and can’t wait to go back there again!

enjoyed our meal. my wife and i both had the evening dinner special of crab cakes $32. the cakes were 100 % crab served on a bed of spinach and breakfast potatoes. i was disappointed with the restaurant's choice of potatoes. they were the same type of potatoes that i order with my morning omelette. i felt i was having breakfast. i think the diner should be informed about a choice of potato. the chef needs to up his game concerning this meal.

came here for a solo dinner today. this is a pretty busy and popular restaurant in the uptown area. had ordered -
salmon mousse
crawfish etouffee
grapefruit juice.
the juice wasn’t that good. the etouffee was pretty average compared to what i have had earlier. the salmon mousse was good. got it packed for home.
service was okayish. nothing great. not to be repeated again.

awesome breakfast spot. has a vintage 30's feel to the place. i had the eggs and bacon breakfast. my wife ordered the french toast, which was absolutely delicious!
we will definitely come back next time in bloomington.

we ate here while in bloomington and thought the decor, etc. was warm and nostalgic.  i ordered the polenta and it was tasty, but i thought it should have been more spicy.  the salad was good, but nothing special. we also had an unfortunate incident where we did not see the board that had that day's specials.  our server did not even mention it to us.  we ordered off the menu and saw the board later.  we would have ordered what was on the board!  the server apologized, but it then became a time issue as we were going to a concert.  i doubt we will go again.

visited uptown as a recommendation from a friend and i'm far from disappointed. this has become my go to place in bloomington for amazing pasta! their lemon pepper chicken is pretty good too!

i have eaten here multiple times, and each time it has been a great experience. breakfast is good. definitely recommend their home fries. dinners here have been alright. the dinner food is definitely good, but i am not blown away. the bar and the bartenders are really nice. it's never overcrowded. definitely my go to place in bloomington.

simply wonderful food in a great space. a very classy atmosphere with a very nice bar. the food is always delicious, the specials never disappoint, nor do the desserts. the place is always very clean and usually wonderfully and informative staff, especially with the wine and spirits selection.

i returned home for a quick 24-hour visit a couple weekends ago, and uptown cafe was on the menu.  even though they serve other meals, the only time i've ever eaten here has been for brunch.  because brunch is basically my favorite meal on earth. i ordered bacon and a scrambled egg as a side to my brunch dish, because protein makes me feel fuller.  i probably didn't need it, but isn't it pretty?  the bacon was perfectly crispy, the way i like it. for my main dish, the pièce de résistance, i ordered the beautiful creme brûlée french toast.  it was as delicious as it sounds, almost like a dessert for breakfast.  it tasted more like a bread pudding than a french toast, super thick and a huge slice.  the fresh fruit and powdered sugar were perfect, no syrup or anything extra needed.  i highly recommend it if you're visiting the restaurant for brunch!  very heavy, though, so be forewarned.  it was a true indulgence. service at the uptown is consistently good, and while there is often a wait i believe it's worth it.  call ahead for a reservation like we did with our party of eight.  it's also clean and friendly, and conveniently located just off the town square downtown.  try it sometime! i also visited oliver winery downtown and korea restaurant ; click the links for my yelp reviews!
