this restaurant is really a treat, i feel like it has a wonderful atmosphere and truely shows off the more upscale side of bloomington! many places in bloomington i find it hard to escape the ever so pleasant party life of the college kids just down the block, but with uptown's higher prices and formal status, you typically illude them for a typically older crowd of people, or at least people that are there for a great sit-down dinner, not a quick in and out place to grab a beer and some pizza. if you are in bloomington please, try uptown's, you will be thoroughly impressed!

red beans ans rice w/andoullie. each time i walk in thinking i will get something else but my favorite dish calls me. this is absolutely the best i have eaten beyond the environs of new orleans! double yum!
brunch on sunday is special as well.

lemon pepper chicken.. that's all you need to know. freaking delicious.

edit: i just recently had brunch here for the first time. i had the eggs benedict with port demi-glace, which had a specific name that i can't remember. it was fantastic. just be aware, their prices are pretty much the same as for dinner, so it comes out to be a pretty expensive breakfast. my eggs were $16, which i think is the same price as my favorite dinner dish there. really really good, though, and plenty of food for the money.

fivestar. the atmosphere is great and the location is by lots of neat places by the square. it has been there for ever and the food is tops. you won't regret eating here. make sure you ask to see the management if you are not happy and they will make it right, but most likely you should see the management to compliment them on an excellent meal, they will appreciate that. you will make it a regular stop ever time you get to "b" town. great place. great people.

o.k. food, slow service. michaels is your typical greasy spoon. the food is alright, a little pricey for the average quality. the service is pretty slow. the coffee is alright. there are better options in b-town.

amazing restaurant! every time i visit my girlfriend in bloomington we go here. we usually treat ourselves to the gorgonzola-encrusted filet mignon, try it also, it'll be the best meal you've ever had, no joke!

i like it but.... uptown is a beautiful restaurant that is almost always bustling. it is especially busy on weekends around brunch time. in general, my experiences have been either very good with very good service. or, just okay, with mediocre service.

the last time i went the waitress seemed to forget us and our toast, which we ordered as an extra, was cold and soggy. how can you ruin toast?

a bloomington tradion. one of the best places to eat in bloomington.
professional staff, consistent food, nice atmosphere. can be very busy on saturday & sunday mornings.

i think it's a bloomington institution and reasonably priced. most important, the flavors are rich and portions are just right. i go there every chance i get.

overpriced!. i attended a function there and spent nearly $35 on myself for not very much food. i don't remember exactly what i had but i know that it was supposed to be cajun...

the louisiana hot pepper chicken might be the best thing on any menu in bloomington. i've heard that the entire menu is great...but i couldn't move past my favorite dish!

some of my favorite things are at the uptown... the black bean burrito, the pot roast, the gumbo (though not the seafood gumbo as the catfish in it is always unpleasant). i don't get breakfast there as it is always mediocre at best. their weeknight specials are a great deal, especially if you're downtown for a show. the staff is wonderful, very professional.
