crème brûlée french toast. the best breakfast dish i think i've ever eaten. i travel all over for work, and this place in the middle of nowhere indiana will stand out in my memory for awhile.

tiny, expensive portions of tasteless food. i'm a vegan and my family is vegetarian. when we go to michaels', i can only get one item: the rice and beans. i'd be better off eating from a can. my kids and wife like the mac and cheese, but the price is high for what you get.
also, don't go there unless you really like loud jazz. i find the atmosphere annoying at best.

great soccer pub!. i oftentimes go there to watch chelsea soccer games and it is a great atmosphere. the bartenders are not pushy and the food is great! also, a solid selection of food. i recommend the restaurant to anyone!

my upscale favorite in bloomington. bar is the best. logan makes the best sazerac in the state.

still hungry! wallet empty! menu says "biscuits and gravy". i got one biscuit and slow service. and $8.50 seems like a lot for b&g that wasn't any better than denney's! next time get the grand slam!

consistently quality food. always great food and a great staff. very consistent, clean, well presented and unique. all the brunch items are delicious, and i will return regularly!

i love this place. i just enjoyed a very good lunch at the uptown. i had a dish with basil pesto and pecans. it was very well seasoned. everything was just right. my husband was happy with his cajun meatloaf served with the (optional) carrots and asparagus. my daughter and i also enjoyed the chocolate mousse dessert. also served well, tasted great. i don't go there often enough. for cajun food in this area - it's the best.

i have enjoyed many delicious breakfasts here over the years, but only recently joined them for dinner. sadly, it wasn't a great experience. we had the shrimp/grits and louisiana pepper chicken - both recommended by the staff. perhaps our expectations were too high but neither of us enjoyed our dinner - not much flavor.

we will continue to visit for breakfast when we're in town.

the pot roast and mashed potatoes my husband had were great, but the chili sauce on my salmon was way too sweet. the worst thing was the broccoli.
i got a bite of something that felt like fine sand. they must not have washed it. ugh.

so delicious. one of the best in bloomington. i love that the menu is small with rotating specials but is still diverse in selection and price. the breakfast menu is amazing- corn meal pancakes, breakfast special, creme brûlée french toast- all incredible. not to mention awesome bar and hot bartenders. only complaint is i wish they had different chairs!

very good breakfast experience. when i think of breakfast in bloomington over the years since graduate school, i think of the uptown's popeye omelet and michael's home fries. the omelet is a wonderful combination of spinach, cheese, bacon. the home fries are spiced and mixed with onions and mushrooms. there is a great selection of jams to go with the hearty bread. the waitstaff has been consistently fast and attentive in the thirteen years that i have been coming. the renovated space is much more open and appealing. love it!

weekday in the summer.... this place is way too busy on the weekend.
go in the summer time when the students are gone & you can get a parking space.
they have great giant pancakes & yummy waffles.

favorite place to eat in btown. uptown is hands down my favorite restaurant in bloomington. the creole bbq shrimp is my favorite dish. it has a very unique flavor, not like anything you would consider to have a bbq-type flavor. always consistent and fresh. great atmosphere and service are a plus.

thumbs up for uptown. this is a fine dining establishment but the prices don't show that. it is classy, clean.... immaculate to be honest. the wait staff is top notch as is the food. i was referred by a friend and not disappointed. i started out with a creamy poblano and potato soup which was delicious (sorry i don't have any greater adjectives). i had some local morrel mushrooms lightly breaded and seasoned cajun style (also amazing). i had the ararat chicken pita which was good ( i normally don't order chicken but i needed something light and didn't feel like a salad.) the selection of beers on tap was decent and they have an extensive wine selection i would have love to have gotten into had i had the time
