really top notch steaks which were cooked to perfection. would skip starters next time as these were very pedestrian. service was on the whole good. 9/10. recommend.

overrated and way over priced. winter vegetables on the menu in december, hardly cutting edge.

amazing meal!! huge steak, really good salad with good ingredients and a serving of home style garlic chips. was a great atmosphere, nicely priced. really recommend for an occasion!

delightful dinner. what an enjoyable experience at the woodhouse in bendigo. spot on with the service ( from what i might add ) were young waiting staff . great food, great ambience . the jewel in bendigo's crown ....

this could quite possibly be my new favourite place in bendigo.  to be honest, they had me at "open fireplace/dessert platter" and everything else has just been icing on the cake so to speak. i'm not a huge steak eater, that's luke's department. in fact, i think the last time i ordered steak from a menu was the ball & chain in hobart (definitely worth a visit) about 7 years ago, so i don't take the decision to choose steak above everything else lightly. the woodhouse however won me over, and i'm going to have a hard time not ordering steak next time i visit. char-grilled. mouth watering. they obviously take their steak seriously and it shows. have it with a side of vegetables and paris mash. loving their wood fired pizzas too.  mental note: figure out how to get luke to build a wood fired pizza oven in the backyard.  i've sampled the slow cooked lamb and the wagyu meatball pizzas, the meatball is winning so far.

third time to the woodhouse and again had a fantastic experience. amazing food, if love steak and have never tried wagyu then you are missing out. there were four of us and our mains were perfect as were our deserts. could not fault the service. can't wait to go back!

took my wife there last night for our anniversary, what can i say other than "wow!" we both had a steak and they were the best steaks we have ever had. the desert share plate was brilliant as well. the staff were great and very attentive, they were very good at reading when you needed another drink or have your water topped up. it was a perfect night and i can't wait to go back. best eatery in bendigo by a mile!

great service, fantastic food. best eatery in bendigo at the moment.

nice...but pricey & noisy. i've been here three times and find it just okay. with friends i've found our tables have tended to be crammed up. they need to spread tables out a little and not put big groups near the fire place. it's also too noisy if you're in a large group, or find yourself fighting to talk over other larger groups. waiting staff tend to stand over you like vultures. my beef ad reef steak was tasty, but pricey. i also don't see why people rave over the tasting plate dessert...i wasn't a fan.

third try. our third visit to the woodhouse, after we were assured it really was great and our first impressions must have been due to an aberration. staff were friendly and efficient enough. our waitress though, did not inform us of the specials board, which was out of our site and mind until we heard an adjoining table being informed. an entree of brushcetta came as two 50 cent size pieces of bread, topped with feta cheese and minimal sliced ham. at $12.90 way over priced.
mains (chicken breast and 300 gram porterhouse) were good without being great. the steak came with so called garlic infused chips - 4 or 5 - they had been well cooked and more than once. my wife's chicken breast, whilst nice enough, was missing some of the accompaniments shown on the menu. we ordered a cheese plate and coffee to finish, as we each had a full glass of wine remaining. the coffees came almost immediately, but the cheese platter did not arrive at the table for a full 25 minutes after the coffee. we had finished both coffee and wine at that stage and were in no mood for the cheese which we refused to accept. our waitress was most apologetic and blamed the kitchen for the delay. i rarely leave a restaurant without leaving a tip, but did so on this occasion. overpriced food, reasonable wine list and prices, pleasant but inexperienced waiting staff and noisy atmosphere. two words to sum up, "below ordinary"! will not be back and will not listen to anyone else who tries to tell me it's great. obviously will not be recommending to anyone either.

fantastic perfectly cooked medium rare steak!. you pay for it, but it was a perfectly cooked and balanced meal. brilliant service too! will return!

woodhouse review. i dined here on a monday night as a party of 10 (7 adults and 2 children). we all ordered our meals at the same time but my meal along with one other persons (of which both meals were pizzas) arrived after everyone else had recieved there meal and almost completed it. when mine did arrive it was the wrong pizza so had to wait further to be made/cooked. a waitress apolgised that it was her error with wrong pizza/wait however did not apologise to me directly-apology was to person on end of table. after this on getting the bill was overcharged-charged for 2 pizzas when i only had the one. while staff are polite and friendly i feel the overall restaurant was abit pretentious for the attention it actually gave. i expected more from such an "upper class" restaurant.

had dinner with two girlfriends, very cosy nice atmosphere, delicious good. staff are wonderful, reasonable priced with main (woodfire pizza) , drink and dessert for around $40.

i just can't get enough of this place. i love their steaks, and so i should, as they very clearly advertise themselves as a steakhouse firat and foremost. the prices are fair for the quality and quantity you receive. the wine list has a great range of local drops to choose from. waitstaff can sometimes be a tad off but overall they are friendly and don't look down on anyone. will always be happy to go back to the woodhouse

great night. what a brilliant little restaurant. a relaxed, comfortable and inviting ambience from the moment you step in the door. the meals were delicious, the steaks especially hitting the spot and cooked to perfection. service was casual and friendly. loved the authentic woodsmoke aroma that lingered on, even after we'd left the restaurant. we are returning with a larger group soon, and can't wait to have another delightful experience!

well done to owner/head chef paul and his partner for their hard work!

ate there friday night with group, wine prices excellent, food prices a touch expensive.i found the pizza i had excellent, my wife had the pork cutlet at over $31 plus sides pretty rich. the waitress read the specials off a list. i could not understand what she said, we have been in hospitality for over 20 years and i believe this restaurant is a little pretentious for what it is, but good luck. would i go back . probly not

pretty good, nice thoughtful gourmet pizzas and entrees. i did not have a steak but they looked quite good, they have probably gone a bit over the top with the 60 dollar grade 8 marble etc etc considering it is not its specialty. definately recommended though
