amazing! from ambiance, service to food quality. this is an exceptional and faultless place to be. it’s worth driving all the way to bendigo just to dine here. we chose ‘the woodhouse experience’ and was spoilt by dish after dishes of well presented, top quality foods. the wagyu steak wascookedto perfection, tender and juicy. the jus that came with it was bursting with flavour, we barely needed any other sauces to enhance our steak. one of the other highlight was one of the waiter came over and congratulated us on our wedding anniversary and poured us a glass of sparkling wine each on the house to start off the celebration. a big thank you to all the staff for making our anniversary dinner so special!

amazing locally sought produce. this is an exceptional restaurant. beautiful, warm and inviting ambiance. they have a open fire place in the middle of the room and it just sets the scene for any occasion. great wood fire pizza's and the specials board is a definite try. we had the fish of the day and it was perfectlycookedon a bed of fresh veggies. there wine range was fantastic and served by a real wine connoisseur who made some great recommendations and coupled the wines according to our choice of meals. great service, i can't wait to go again. a must when visiting bendigo.

a mothers day to remember. ok so i know i've only been a mum for a short time, but omg, this mothers day was perfect. got spoilt in the morning by my husband and little girl, then was taken to lunch at the woodhouse, where all mums recieved a complimentary sparkling rising sun which was yummy and made me feel a little special. again the meals just melted in your mouth after beingcookedto perfection oh and the dessert omg, you've got to try the chocolate fudge sundae mmmmmmm more please. what a great day. great company, great food, great service and we went home feeling all warm and fuzzy, (well i did).
thank you to all the staff at the woodhouse.

mmm. over the weekend i was at the woodhouse and we were seated in their side room, i was a bit concernd to start with but with the gas heater down one end and the warm lighting it didn;t take us long to get confortable, especially with the way were looked after by the staff from the instant we arrived. again the meals were fantastic; we started with the charcuterie board, which i mostly ate, then i had the porterhouse which wascookedto perfection and finished with the tasting plate which i ended up having all to myself (had to order another one for my husband). during the evening my husband suprised me and said that he had booked our family in for mothers day lunch, i can't wait.

thankyou dinning experince recommended. what can i say. in the short time the woodhouse has been open i've been lucky enough and i say lucky because i've been there twice and each time its been awesome. the first time my husband and i walked in memories of home came to me with the smell of the redgum. my husband and i enjoyed every minute of this incredible experience although with our gourgeous little girl at home with grandma time flew.
this experience should be highly rated.
on our second visit we went as a family and i was so impressed that our little girl was treated as a real little person from having pencils and a colouring page for her, the way the staff treated her and included her to the absolutely awesome specialised kids menu which were little grown up meals same as mum and dad

burned steak!!!!!!!!. went for lunch for a good steak and was very disappointed. below average for what you pay. the steak was burned and was mediumcookedand not medium rare as i asked. the only thing that you could taste was the burned charcoal flavour. very disappointed never go back. the service was excellent and tipped the waiter for his effort but it does not balance with the food

the atmosphere of this place is amazing and elegant. you could see where they grill the meats. the only thing that i found strange is you are greeted with shelves of (?) fake meats, or real? not sure. i found it’s kinda scary in a way. their steak was the best one i ever had, just enough amount of fat to make it really tasty. the steak came with layered sliced potato baked, beautiful presentation and delicious. we also ordered zucchini flower dish and roasted pumpkin, bothcookedbeautifully and presented nicely. the roasted pumpkin was a generous portion, although they are quite sweet and can overpower the steak. the service was a little disorganised, they asked for the order twice (different waiters) and my drink came out wrong so they had to remake another one. unfortunately the drink that i ordered, virgin mary, was probably the most horrible mocktail i ever had. it was very sour but not much other flavour or niceness to it. i was struggling to even sip it. i wished i would have taken the wrong drink they brought the first time 😂. but overall amazing food, amazing atmosphere. would definitely go here for a steak again.

went for the meat in the window, stayed for the incredible ambiance, food and service.
the meat, as one would expect, wascookedto perfection. it was extremely delicious, tender and delicious and just exceptional in every way.
the fireplace, especially as we were right next to it, was a welcome centrepiece on a cold winter night.
the staff were attentive and knowledgeable.
no guest seemed disappointed in the quality or breadth of dishes.

would highly recommend.

stuck in bendigo for business by myself on a saturday night in the middle of winter, i was drawn to the woodhouse by the smell of wellcookedsteak wafting through the night air.  luckily i was early enough that they could seat me on a single table, provided i agreed to be out in time for the 7:30 booking!  the attentive waitress left me with a menu, a bottle of mineral water and a glass of wine as i soaked up the atmosphere and warmed up from the heat of the fire.  i ordered a steak medium rare with baked potato and some sauces.  what arrived at my table was a little slice of heaven!  the streak wascookedto perfection and the sides were great as well.  there was nothing to do by order another glass of the local red and tuck in!
the meal went down too easily, the time went by to quickly, and before i knew it i was back on the street, with nothing but the smell and the after taste of a great meal to remind me of my experience.  hopefully i will be back in bendigo soon for pleasure rather than business and when i am i know where my partner and i will be eating - the woodhouse.

the lunch express set menu is so great value! 50 for three course and comes with a drink. the wagyu steak was great! wellcookedand it’s so so so yum! the staffs are super nice, highly recommend this place and look forward to my next visit.

excellent steak and one of the best chocolate cake (it's almost like a souffle really) that i have ever had. the rostbiff cut wascookedmedium rare and served with two condiments, which unfortunately i forgot what they were. we also had meatball pizza which was good too, but the sour tomatoes was a bit overwhelming for me. the daylesford lemon lime bitter was also excellent for summer. if there is anything to complain about, it's probably the price. not cheap but i think it is worth it, especially if you only indulge yourself once in a while. this place is also one of the busiest place for dinner, so booking a spot in advance is a good idea.

this place is definitely a restaurant for serious meat lovers. the wagyu steak i had was beautifullycookedwith charcoal grill. definitely would return!

first time here, my partner has been talking highly about this place. for entrée we ordered carpaccio, it was simple and not too heavy for an entree. for main i had eye fillet, the medium rare eye fillet was not evenly cooked, one side was medium another half was medium rare 🤷🏻‍♀️, so was abit disappointed. my partners steak was overcookedtoo. we ordered onion ring, salad and brussels sprouts for sides. my favorite was brussels sprouts, the onion rings were okay. overall i expected more as the overcooked meat was a let down but would definitely go back and give them a second chance.

we had dinner here and it was fantastic. both the beetroot & pumpkin pizza and the confit duck pizza special werecookedto perfection. service was friendly, attentive and fast, especially for a busy saturday night. only suggestion for improvement would be one or two non-pizza vego options.

everything is absolutely fantastic. service is perfect, the ambiance is great (if you are in a group of 2, try to sit in the front room), and the smell of the wood smoke in the restaurant is divine. the charcuterie platter is easily the best i have ever had. if you go, you must order it. the steaks were perfect -cookedexactly to order, rested well, everything you want really. unfortunately, the steaks are no longer accompanied by bone marrow which i was looking forward to. they come with a small piece of dauphinoise potato and your sauce of choice (or mustards). you can also choose a side, we chose the pumpkin with goats cheese and the mixed greens. everything was delicious. we agreed we would travel to bendigo again just to have another meal here. it's that good. booking essential.

could be argued that the food is quite pricey, however the quality of the produce and the way the food iscookedand presented is absouletly worth the money paid in my opinion. the steaks we had werecookedto perfection, presented in a modern and elegant fashion. the overall ambience of the resteraunt was beautiful, however, this is definitely a venue that needs to be booked on advance, extremely busy.

boyfriend and i went here last night for our anniversary and i haven't stopped raving about it since. we shared the pork belly entree, he had the woodhouse beef burger for main and i had the eye fillet with triplecookedchips, salad and a red wine jus. it was hands down the best meal i have ever eaten in my life. the steak wascookedperfectly and the meat was so delicious. often when you order a steak, the sides are thrown on the plate as an afterthought but everything on there had been given equal attention and was meant to be there. seriously, the salad would've been my favourite thing on that plate if it weren't for the steak. for dessert we shared the chocolate chocolate chocolate, which is rich as the name suggests so i'm glad we shared it. service was quick and thorough and really polite. i'll definitely be back, everything was to die for. if you haven't had a steak here, you're seriously missing out.
