amazing! from ambiance, service to food quality. this is an exceptional and faultless place to be. it’s worth driving all the way tobendigojust to dine here. we chose ‘the woodhouse experience’ and was spoilt by dish after dishes of well presented, top quality foods. the wagyu steak was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy. the jus that came with it was bursting with flavour, we barely needed any other sauces to enhance our steak. one of the other highlight was one of the waiter came over and congratulated us on our wedding anniversary and poured us a glass of sparkling wine each on the house to start off the celebration. a big thank you to all the staff for making our anniversary dinner so special!

stuck inbendigofor business by myself on a saturday night in the middle of winter, i was drawn to the woodhouse by the smell of well cooked steak wafting through the night air.  luckily i was early enough that they could seat me on a single table, provided i agreed to be out in time for the 7:30 booking!  the attentive waitress left me with a menu, a bottle of mineral water and a glass of wine as i soaked up the atmosphere and warmed up from the heat of the fire.  i ordered a steak medium rare with baked potato and some sauces.  what arrived at my table was a little slice of heaven!  the streak was cooked to perfection and the sides were great as well.  there was nothing to do by order another glass of the local red and tuck in!
the meal went down too easily, the time went by to quickly, and before i knew it i was back on the street, with nothing but the smell and the after taste of a great meal to remind me of my experience.  hopefully i will be back inbendigosoon for pleasure rather than business and when i am i know where my partner and i will be eating - the woodhouse.

i was delighted to have a lunch date at the woodhouse restaurant in beautifulbendigoon the weekend. i have been driving past this restaurant for years, ever since it charmed and beguiled me with its previous name  “the puddler.” there is also something quant and delightful about its location and the actual building itself.

on a day trip tobendigo& used zomato to find someplace to eat & the woodhouse was first on the list. we were drawn by the 4/5 rating & description of pizza, burger & steaks.

we walked in & it was much nicer than we'd expected for a pizza & burgers joint! but not at all too cool for itself. the large open fire was a very welcome touch on a cold day. menu has a fantastic array of options & made choosing difficult. being lunch time, we both decided on the wagyu burgers with hand cut chips.

burgers were so good i felt sad when it was all gone! the beef mince was thick & full, not much fat in it, just all meat. sauces were a flavoursome mix with the beef & fillings + the chips & homemade tomato relish were gone too fast.

dessert we shared the mint chocolate soufflé and again had a winner.

staff are that perfect combination of welcoming and attentive, yet quick and unobtrusive.

i'd definitely go back and try some of their steaks & wines.

i was inbendigofor work & did a quick search for somewhere to eat & woodhouse was first on the list. we turned up without a booking & could only grab a table in their courtyard; which was still a lovely, covered and enclosed area.

while there were lots of delicious choices on the menu, my colleague and i both ordered the fish special, which was barramundi with a noodle salad, prawn cracker and a chili dipping sauce. the only problem was that it was so good i could keep eating it this way passed the point of being full. we both got a healthy steak of fish, which was soft & juicy. everything on the plate was amazing!

considering how fantastic our mains were, we both decided to try a dessert. i ordered the the snickers (caramel parfait, dacquoise, milk chocolate mousse, salted peanut caramel, and chocolate swirls) while my colleague got the woodhouse pavlova (pavlova, poached lychee, raspberry purée, coconut log, blood orange, and lime jelly). again, faultless. my dessert was not too sweet and was enough to satisfy my sweet tooth without making me feel ill. my colleague was also very impressed with her pavlova.

and i'm so, so glad we came here. this was honestly the nicest food i've eaten in ages, and very well priced for the quality. typically living in my melbournean food-bubble, i definitely wasn't expectingbendigoto have such an amazing restaurant. i would highly recommend this place to anyone heading in this direction and would consider the extended drive to be able to enjoy such a phenomenal meal again.

everything is absolutely fantastic. service is perfect, the ambiance is great (if you are in a group of 2, try to sit in the front room), and the smell of the wood smoke in the restaurant is divine. the charcuterie platter is easily the best i have ever had. if you go, you must order it. the steaks were perfect - cooked exactly to order, rested well, everything you want really. unfortunately, the steaks are no longer accompanied by bone marrow which i was looking forward to. they come with a small piece of dauphinoise potato and your sauce of choice (or mustards). you can also choose a side, we chose the pumpkin with goats cheese and the mixed greens. everything was delicious. we agreed we would travel tobendigoagain just to have another meal here. it's that good. booking essential.

been here several times and rate it as bendigo's best. food and service are very good. staff a little stiff and know they are good and look down their nose a little, a little provincial really. 4.5 forbendigobut keep it real this is a 2.5 in any major city where the standards are higher. if you are inbendigoit's warm mostly friendly and the food is the best you will get for a 100km.

a fantastic little gem!. i had a wonderful meal with my family who were visiting from out of town. the food was superb and steaks cooked to perfection, surpassing any of the steaks i have ever had in melbourne. this is certainly a great gem tucked away inbendigoand for my first visit it exceeded our expectations. the atmosphere reminds me of a classic tarvern meets woolshed with its rustic look. while it can be a bit noisy in the main dinning room, there a few more private areas. the quality of the beef is obvious from the first bite and food presentation while simple is visually enticing. unfortunately we did not have room for dessert because the steaks were so big! i would highly recommened anyone stopping bybendigoto give this place a go, you will not be disappointed!

well, this was one hell of a food adventure, certainly the furthest i’ve driven just for a burger - chris has been waxing lyrical about the woodhouse inbendigofor weeks. it’s a restaurant in cbd area ofbendigo– which is about halfway between echuca and melbourne. chris spends a lot of time driving throughbendigovisiting his friend hanna who lives just outside of echuca, they tend to meet up inbendigosince it’s the halfway point – apparently they’ve sampled many of the culinary delights thatbendigohas to offer and rave about the woodhouse (best wagyu tasting plate ever according to chris). i on the other hand had never been to bendigo. and let’s be honest, why would i go to bendigo? it’s a 300km+ round trip from melbourne and there’s not much on the way… well, i finally caved – chris convinced me to drive up the calder hwy on friday night and gi

divine. our family had a “die and go to food heaven” experience at the woodhousebendigolast week. the food was perfect in every way, the staff were super efficient and the ambience was perfect. and for a a gf family it was topped off by a good part of the menu being gf, including the kids menu and the desserts.

my husband and i both agreed that this was one of the best meals we’ve ever had, nationally or internationally. the desserts were superb and gave the main meals a run for their money. we are still talking about it a week later; and we've dined "everywhere man".

nice food, great service but way overpriced for what you get. we went for valentine's day and were very impressed with the attentiveness, politeness and knowledge of the staff. they are definitely the strength here. very professional and good at what they do. the setting and ambience is really comfortable. we don't drink wine but they seem to have a big range.

the food tastes great but it is way over priced. for entree, we had brushcetta, which was pretty ordinary. very dry and tasteless. mains were wagyu scotch fillet. my partner said it was up there with the best steaks he'd tasted but for just shy of $70, it'd want to be! he ordered salad, which appeared to be quite big, but on closer inspection was just a big pile of mixed lettuce with a couple of pieces of fetta on top. a few odd salad vegetables were scattered beside. the chips consisted of 5 (yes, only 5) fat cut pieces of potato. i had lamb pizza, which was absolutely delicious. the base was light, thin and not oily. however, for nearly $22 for a regular sized pizza, it was horrendously overpriced. dessert was a tasting platter. like the other courses, the food was terrific but consisted of 6 finger sized desserts for $25.

i would definitely go again if it wasn't so overpriced.bendigoisn't exactly the gourmet centre of victoria, so i don't think this restaurant warrants the prices they charge.
