the toad on the road

i have visited your establishment three times and found the value for food is great! the exception is the inexperiencedstaffyou employ, twice we were placed at a table that had been reserved but no sign on it and had to move,  i was shocked at the limited wine selection you offer and even more astounded at the price of a glass of wine - r40!!!!  i could have bought my own bottle which would have cost almost half the price!  do you just cater for the elite customers without giving a thought for the pensioners who visit you for their "treat" for the month!  i ordered a beer instead of wine and without being  asked by the waitress, i was given a draft beer, i am a 68 year old lady and couldn't think of getting through a huge glass that size! the toilets need attention badly, no toilet paper at times and not particularly clean. attention to detail is required!

such a pity that service was terribly slow. ordered drinks but waiter did not know if bar stocked them and took forever with our order. great that it's family friendly friendly, but please train yourstaffand offer a wider variety.

constant issue with service, generally major indabas at the front entrance instead ofstaffdoing their work inside, poor management needs mega revamp!

a great venue to watch a sports game and enjoy some pub grub with a beer or two. i ordered a pizza for the table to share as a starter. was very pleased with the generous toppings, great flavour and well made base. pizza gets a 8/10. then i let was on to the ribs, although i noticed that the prices have increased considerably since my last visit, i gave it a bash! the ribs were cooked to perfection, i literally pulled the bone right out of the flesh. it was a great rack of ribs as the portion of meat to bone was generous. the basting was good enough to have me licking my fingers rather than use the finger blow provided. overall rating for the ribs 9/10. considering how full the venue was as they were showing the south africa game vs samoa, our service was outstanding. well done toad!

i have been bcc a few times for this same menu and unfortunately have to report that the ribs have never again been worth mentioning. they are dry and tough. the kitchenstaffseem to be taking short cuts and not boiling them for long enough. this really is a shame. i will therefore be dropping their rating.

long overdue revisit.
was last at the toad a while back and found it then to be somewhat over clinical, far too straight laced and not overly visitor friendly.
this was no reflection on the food or staff, purely based on the layout and lack of creativity when it came to the seating areas.
big, pleasant, surprise in store.
compliments to whoever was responsible for the current changes.
new outside bar area - best addition by far - pizza oven and all on the old deck and a makeover in the garden seating area.bathrooms currently busy with a revamp as well.good on you.
the entire mood was different from the start. servingstaffwhere on top of their game. big smiles, efficient service andstaffthat actually enjoyed what they were doing. huge high fives to all concerned. (thank you carla).
a light, in between beers snack was delivered (nachos) together with a complimentary dish of lamb from the spit. both the dishes added to the festive mood and made the on-going beverages taste even better. the lamb was to die for.
in summary - was a very hurried affair, but never the less, one which has added the toad on the road back onto my, must visit and bring friends along with more regularly list.(if that makes any sense).
great new look, awesomestaffand well worth a return visit. believe the pizza's are on my list of must haves next time round. can’t wait.

very good atmosphere when ever you go there. food portions are generous and not to pricey. very good selection of beer. great venue for either a family dinner/lunch or a after work drink (the reason we usually go).staffis generally friendly.
