i have visited your establishment three times and found the value forfoodis great! the exception is the inexperienced staff you employ, twice we were placed at a table that had been reserved but no sign on it and had to move,  i was shocked at the limited wine selection you offer and even more astounded at the price of a glass of wine - r40!!!!  i could have bought my own bottle which would have cost almost half the price!  do you just cater for the elite customers without giving a thought for the pensioners who visit you for their "treat" for the month!  i ordered a beer instead of wine and without being  asked by the waitress, i was given a draft beer, i am a 68 year old lady and couldn't think of getting through a huge glass that size! the toilets need attention badly, no toilet paper at times and not particularly clean. attention to detail is required!

been here a few times, and thought it would be a good place to celebrate a last minute birthday celebration for a friend. walked in last night and it wasn't buzzing like it usually is. i see management changes here quite often too. for alot of our friends it was the first time being there and thought thefoodwas ok overall most of them had ribs, one had mexicana pizza he didn't enjoy to much. i had chicken livers it's definitely pub grub if that's what you're into. negatives were our waiter changed like 5 times was confusing, place closes at 11 but they were ringing a loud bell at 10:30 i'm assuming to chase us out and not for last rounds. standard has dropped unfortunately.

cool place to meet up for drinks and light munchies. the vibe is easy and the service is great. thefoodis okay. in my opinion it’s a good place to just catch drinks.

love the toad for a couple drinks, never tried thefoodbut it is a really nice pub. even took my mom here. because it's mom-friendly :p so enjoy

i love pizza. like a lot, so much so that it's a interest on my cv. i have had pizza from a lot of different places, takeaway, sit down restaurants, expensive pizza, cheap pizza, pizza of all different shapes and sizes. but this place has the best pizza i have ever had hands down.

the crust is super thin, firm, and crunchy. the pizza is loaded with the most flavourful toppings.

then on top of the best pizza, their ribs are spectacular, the atmosphere is great. just my favourite place to hang out.


service was fast, got our drinks within 2 minutes of ordering, and thefoodnever took longer than 20 - 30 min to arrive. waiters are friendly and make great recommendations.

i have been to the toad many times and i have always found this to be my experience:
go there for a few drinks with mates and have chilli poppers as your only meal item and you will leave a happy girl/guy. if you want a really good meal though - this is not the place. thefoodhas always been "ok" at best...at worst - i ordered the chicken schnitzel once and the spinach and butternut it came with were sour (as in totally off). i have found hair in my pizza on two separate occasions. i have had the pie and found 1 piece of meat in it - the rest was just gravy. 
the service is very very poor - you wait a long time if you dare to order food. the reason to go back though is the vibe and like i said - have a few drinks, get a few poppers and you wont regret it.

we've been here many times and overall the experience is good.foodhas always been good although service is often below par. selection of beer on tap is adequate. only major disappointment is the desert menu. you can have anything you like as long as it's ice cream. 😠 come on toad make an effort.

i love that place. thefoodis always excellent, the good time guarantee, service is normally quite good and the prices are perfect. for a quick glass or a long afternoon the toad on the road is for me one of the best option.

greatfoodat affordable prices. great place for a sundowner. love the location, as those living in the southern suburbs don't have to drive much to have a good time.

i'm a fan of all 3 of the toads. this one is especially a noted improvement to the old westlake arms. it offers an enjoyable experience in the outdoor, vibey area and is always buzzing with people of all ages. its the perfect spot to have a bite to eat or meet friends for a few drinks or to watch whatever sport is on. thefoodis good, with a menu offering a slightly more enticing take on a typical cape town pub menu. the pizzas are particularly good, offering a variety of choice for toppings. this past visit, the service was rather "okay", but to be fair it was rather busy.
a "must visit" for all locals or passer-by's.

great experience. friendly staff, quick service too. thefoodportions are massive so i had to bring home some of ourfoodhaha! very accommodating with our 4 and 6 year olds! well priced and tasty food. manager very friendly too. all round great experience.

after a very stressful day yesterday we decided that we need a beer stat. we had not been to toad on the road in a long time and decided that we would meet up there with 2 other friends. the waiter was great, serving our our beers very quickly. it was late afternoon and the place was pretty quiet. after our second beer we decided that we need a little nibble. 2 of us ordered the starter portion nachos (r60) and the other 2 of us ordered the (rump) trinchada (r60). the nachos were not bad tasting, but not the best we have had either. the trinchada on the other had was appalling, despite the menu saying (rump) the meat was the consistency of stewing beef, tough as nails & we even found a bone. the sauce was watery and the dish looked more like a soup that a trinchada. we will give them another try because last time we were there thefoodwas really good and the waiter was amazing. beer was great no fault there and they have castle tank beer.

went through to the toad on saturday night to watch the rugby and really had a decent time! the vibe is awesome, the service great, and thefoodnot only really good, but pretty affordable too! we ordered pizzas for the table and they disappeared so quickly we had to order more! will definitely go back for sure.

long overdue revisit.
was last at the toad a while back and found it then to be somewhat over clinical, far too straight laced and not overly visitor friendly.
this was no reflection on thefoodor staff, purely based on the layout and lack of creativity when it came to the seating areas.
big, pleasant, surprise in store.
compliments to whoever was responsible for the current changes.
new outside bar area - best addition by far - pizza oven and all on the old deck and a makeover in the garden seating area.bathrooms currently busy with a revamp as well.good on you.
the entire mood was different from the start. serving staff where on top of their game. big smiles, efficient service and staff that actually enjoyed what they were doing. huge high fives to all concerned. (thank you carla).
a light, in between beers snack was delivered (nachos) together with a complimentary dish of lamb from the spit. both the dishes added to the festive mood and made the on-going beverages taste even better. the lamb was to die for.
in summary - was a very hurried affair, but never the less, one which has added the toad on the road back onto my, must visit and bring friends along with more regularly list.(if that makes any sense).
great new look, awesome staff and well worth a return visit. believe the pizza's are on my list of must haves next time round. can’t wait.

very good atmosphere when ever you go there. foodportions are generous and not to pricey. very good selection of beer. great venue for either a family dinner/lunch or a after work drink (the reason we usually go). staff is generally friendly.
