very disappointed with the raved over ribs. sublimely tender but not that tasty to me. the service andatmosphereis really great but the fresh cut chips on the menu is not so fresh cut after all.

i love pizza. like a lot, so much so that it's a interest on my cv. i have had pizza from a lot of different places, takeaway, sit down restaurants, expensive pizza, cheap pizza, pizza of all different shapes and sizes. but this place has the best pizza i have ever had hands down.

the crust is super thin, firm, and crunchy. the pizza is loaded with the most flavourful toppings.

then on top of the best pizza, their ribs are spectacular, theatmosphereis great. just my favourite place to hang out.


service was fast, got our drinks within 2 minutes of ordering, and the food never took longer than 20 - 30 min to arrive. waiters are friendly and make great recommendations.

the toad on the road has a greatatmosphereespecially during prime rugby matches. the pizza's are pretty good. this is a great place to watch sport with a large outdoor area to enjoy the fresh air.

the local watering hole, in order to get this status, it must be amazing.   i personally think it has some of the best ribs and pizza you will find, if not the best in town.   going back tonight so they better be ready for us :)

niceatmosphereduring the day with a very nice outside section for almost any weather.   they really have gone far beyond the ordinary on the layout of the pub as come rain or sunshine, there will be a place to enjoy your drinks and meal.   

good beers on tap and very friendly staff, good crowd of people, however it can get a bit rowdy once the sun goes down, but then again every pub does.    good spot to watch a bit of sport with mates as well

very goodatmospherewhen ever you go there. food portions are generous and not to pricey. very good selection of beer. great venue for either a family dinner/lunch or a after work drink (the reason we usually go). staff is generally friendly.

staying on the west coast, i almost never go out to the south, it's just too far! but i recently got invited to a friend's birthday at the toad on the road, which is her local. i have previously been to the toad and josephine, a sister restaurant in newlands, which i must honestly say i prefer the look of as it's more updated looking.

the toad on the road does have a very strong regular vibe where everyone seems to know each other. i did feel a bit left out not being a regular. the regulars all seem to favour sitting outside as opposed to inside, which had no vibe oratmosphereat all despite it being freezing outside.

i ordered a crowd favourite pizza, with bacon, avo and feta on. it was delicious with a very generous amount of toppings on for r85.

to be honest, even though the food is great, i'm not sure it's the kind of place one would go to for a relaxed dinner or date, it's certainly more the kind of place to go to drink copious amounts of alcohol while the game is on.

great food, greatatmosphereand lots to see and do. pizza is a must-have, burgers delicious and excellent value for money. the ideal place if you have children and even doggies are welcome. service is very good, nothing to complain about, but make sure you get there early for lunch or dinner because there is limited parking and seating.
