been here a few times, and thought it would be a goodplaceto celebrate a last minute birthday celebration for a friend. walked in last night and it wasn't buzzing like it usually is. i see management changes here quite often too. for alot of our friends it was the first time being there and thought the food was ok overall most of them had ribs, one had mexicana pizza he didn't enjoy to much. i had chicken livers it's definitely pub grub if that's what you're into. negatives were our waiter changed like 5 times was confusing,placecloses at 11 but they were ringing a loud bell at 10:30 i'm assuming to chase us out and not for last rounds. standard has dropped unfortunately.

coolplaceto meet up for drinks and light munchies. the vibe is easy and the service is great. the food is okay. in my opinion it’s a goodplaceto just catch drinks.

i love pizza. like a lot, so much so that it's a interest on my cv. i have had pizza from a lot of different places, takeaway, sit down restaurants, expensive pizza, cheap pizza, pizza of all different shapes and sizes. but thisplacehas the best pizza i have ever had hands down.

the crust is super thin, firm, and crunchy. the pizza is loaded with the most flavourful toppings.

then on top of the best pizza, their ribs are spectacular, the atmosphere is great. just my favouriteplaceto hang out.


service was fast, got our drinks within 2 minutes of ordering, and the food never took longer than 20 - 30 min to arrive. waiters are friendly and make great recommendations.

i love the vibe here, indoor and outdoor bar, great fire place, lovely food, service could improve and a special every now and again would be awesome.  an awesomeplaceto spend a saturday afternoon with friends and fam.

i come here pretty often. recently, i've seen the standards drop though. unless its the springboks or the stormers, you will not have sound (even the proteas get the radio). pizza still pretty good, and the beers are cold. starting to fray around the edges and theplacedefinitely needs a good scrub-down..

the toad on the road has a great atmosphere especially during prime rugby matches. the pizza's are pretty good. this is a greatplaceto watch sport with a large outdoor area to enjoy the fresh air.

great food at affordable prices. greatplacefor a sundowner. love the location, as those living in the southern suburbs don't have to drive much to have a good time.

the local watering hole, in order to get this status, it must be amazing.   i personally think it has some of the best ribs and pizza you will find, if not the best in town.   going back tonight so they better be ready for us :)

nice atmosphere during the day with a very nice outside section for almost any weather.   they really have gone far beyond the ordinary on the layout of the pub as come rain or sunshine, there will be aplaceto enjoy your drinks and meal.   

good beers on tap and very friendly staff, good crowd of people, however it can get a bit rowdy once the sun goes down, but then again every pub does.    good spot to watch a bit of sport with mates as well

a greatplacefor drinks and sport. good service and a relaxed atmosphere. always festive on a thur, fri and sunday. a must try is their new orleans pizza which also comes in a half pizza half salad option!

after a very stressful day yesterday we decided that we need a beer stat. we had not been to toad on the road in a long time and decided that we would meet up there with 2 other friends. the waiter was great, serving our our beers very quickly. it was late afternoon and theplacewas pretty quiet. after our second beer we decided that we need a little nibble. 2 of us ordered the starter portion nachos (r60) and the other 2 of us ordered the (rump) trinchada (r60). the nachos were not bad tasting, but not the best we have had either. the trinchada on the other had was appalling, despite the menu saying (rump) the meat was the consistency of stewing beef, tough as nails & we even found a bone. the sauce was watery and the dish looked more like a soup that a trinchada. we will give them another try because last time we were there the food was really good and the waiter was amazing. beer was great no fault there and they have castle tank beer.

cosy pub and restaurant with decent sized portions. home brew very refreshing and well priced. goodplaceto catchup on some sport with a relaxed atmosphere

the toad in the road was the location for the put foot rally registration and i must admit that i was bloody glad!

the restaurant looks so cool on the inside and i loved the personal touches, for example the pictures of famous locations or events with the restaurant toad photoshopped in each of them. the bar also has a number of craft beers which is always much better than the sab counterparts. even though there was some load shedding, it didn't dampen the evening at all. my friend and i had the hawaiian and josephine pizzas which were seriously delicious and the candle light somehow added to it. there's also nothing quite like stringy mozzarella cheese on an amazing pizza. the service was pretty good with the manager constantly checking in on us. always love it when the management have a handle on things.

would recommend thisplaceto anyone looking for a great vibe, fantastic beer and tasty pizza.

staying on the west coast, i almost never go out to the south, it's just too far! but i recently got invited to a friend's birthday at the toad on the road, which is her local. i have previously been to the toad and josephine, a sister restaurant in newlands, which i must honestly say i prefer the look of as it's more updated looking.

the toad on the road does have a very strong regular vibe where everyone seems to know each other. i did feel a bit left out not being a regular. the regulars all seem to favour sitting outside as opposed to inside, which had no vibe or atmosphere at all despite it being freezing outside.

i ordered a crowd favourite pizza, with bacon, avo and feta on. it was delicious with a very generous amount of toppings on for r85.

to be honest, even though the food is great, i'm not sure it's the kind ofplaceone would go to for a relaxed dinner or date, it's certainly more the kind ofplaceto go to drink copious amounts of alcohol while the game is on.

great food, great atmosphere and lots to see and do. pizza is a must-have, burgers delicious and excellent value for money. the idealplaceif you have children and even doggies are welcome. service is very good, nothing to complain about, but make sure you get there early for lunch or dinner because there is limited parking and seating.
