1/13/18 this is apubin central rockwall, tx. it has a typicalpubatmosphere but isn't as loud as a generalpubcan be. the coca cola is very syrupy, fair warning. the guinness is on tap and very yummy. we ordered grilled chicken kabobs as a starter and they were very good. the dipping sauces were god as well though they really weren't english in style or taste. still good though. the entrees included meatloaf with sides, bangers and mash, and a cottage pie. (i would have expected shepherds pie, but it wasn't on the menu) my bangers and mash with gray was really wonderful. the sausage was pleasing in flavor and the potatoes were good as well. the meatloaf was good and it was even grilled to boot. all very tasty. the cottage pie was another thing all together. it had a weird aftertaste, and was very soupy. there wasn't much in terms of veggies, and my son did't eat much of it and would not take it to go either. the green beans he ordered as a side, were of the frozen variety and had a horrible texture and no flavor since they had not even been salted. the service left much to be desired. the servers are walking around like zombies and have little personality, and we have to chase them down for the bill and refills of beverages. go when its not busy.

bartender suggested the shepherd's pie over the bangers. really enjoyed it. good beer selection. friendly staff. goodpubfeel to the place. not too many tvs. pool table, dart board, golden tee, and a healthy scotch & irish whiskey selection. i'm going to be back to try the bangers. i wish i lived closer.

always a pleasure. this place is close, open late, and affordable - so as a grad student, it's a natural habitat. the menu items are definitely different from what you'll find elsewhere in baton rouge, with a good mix of home comfort food and americanpubfavorites. the prices are good, getting a large burger on homemade sweet buns with a crock of creamy mac and cheese is under $10. i wouldn't say that the wait staff is the friendliest, but they always have prompt service and are hospitable. prices are good and the beer selection is one of the better in baton rouge, with a good mix of british imports and louisiana brews. definitely a bar-like atmosphere and popular with locals.

interesting. no, the wait-staff isn't overly nice. it's a darkpuband cool hangout. i wasn't out alone and i don't expect waitresses to be my temporary new bff, so it wasn't a big deal. hubby had the steak & ale pie. the more of it he ate, the more he liked it. we got the impression that if you like ale, you probably like it. i wasn't feeling adventurous and got the steak sandwich, because i figured it would be similar to a philly. complaints: it seemed like there was only swiss on one side and it could have used more grilled onions and bell peppers. it tasted great, but could have been even better with swiss evenly distributed and more onions and peppers.

the londoner is an english stylepublocated on sherwood forest blvd. in baton rouge, la. true to form they have a very nice and large bar area with darts & pool tables..styled nicely and also had comfy couches, large chairs and big tv’s throughout the place. as i said it is styled nicely true to  standards of a real english pub. beautiful inside and they play most all soccer game from around the world.   the food however is a different story. i have never been to england but the food here for the most part is bland and boring. we sampled the scotch eggs (hard boiled egg wrapped in pork then breaded and fried) they looked amazing, but were almost tasteless. the sauce that same along side for dipping also tasted like nothing. we also had the “tower of london burger” which we found to be an average, run of the mill burger, again under seasoned and just plain boring.   fish and chips     the fish and chips were the only thing we found to be tasty. although the portion siz

from a 'regular'. firstly, everyone, let's remember: this place is not necessarily styled on your typical restaurant. it is styled on a typical pub. as someone who spent twelve years in england and has thus frequented many apubmeal, i can tell you that pubs are more laid back. you would typically go to them for a lazy evening or weekend meal while you have drinks with friends or family. of course, you're still entitled to good service, but just bear this in mind. :)

my trips to the londoner are usually fueled by a wish to hang out with friends, with drinks, food and a game of pool, and i've always had a relaxing time. the atmosphere is laid-back, casual and fun. food has always been good (apart from my very first visit, where i had a very unfortunate run-in with an admiral's pie that has since thankfully gone from the menu), hot and ample-portioned. though i don't drink, it seems and i've been told that the variety of beers and ale is pretty good.

in terms of authenticity, of course you can't beat a real britishpubsince it doesn't have age behind it, but they do really well and you can tell they're gathering their decor and settling in. the food gets fairly close (apart from the sticky toffee pudding - which is still good), and i encourage everyone to try the loaded cheese fries and shepherd's pie, and the salsa for the chips and salsa is fantastic. i've also had the smoked salmon, caper and cream cheese omelet which was pretty good. for the record yes, they do offer hot tea. :)

for those interested: pool has been around $6-$8 an hour and on occasion some of the cues and balls can be a little worse for wear, but granted, this isn't a pool hall - there are four tables upstairs along with two dart boards, a jukebox, fusball table and table shuffleboard. there are spots to sit outside and a balcony and additional bar upstairs (to bear in mind if you order food upstairs - the order has to be taken and has to come from downstairs!). brunch on sundays 10:30-3!

weekly date night. good replica ofpubfor the american market. they could have made the booths more intimate, but all and all hubby and i love this place. bangers and mash and even the steak ale pie are pretty good.oh and the chicken on spinash is really some thing you should try if you don't like all the calories. we love the atmosphere and the waiters are really good. was really impressed that they knew what a beer shandy was.

english pub? nah mate.. being an englishman in baton rouge i was obviously intrigued when a new place opens claiming to be an authentic english pub. i've seen many places in this country try to lay claim to this but none ever coming close due to a variety of factors that are difficult to reproduce.

my first impression upon entering the place is that it looks just like a bar on the inside. sure you can have wooden seating, and bar stools and the like but atmosphere is everything with a properpuband this place just didn't capture it. apubis supposed to be a social place where people can banter over a game of pool or darts and feel pretty intimate. however the inside of the londoner to me was akin to brew-bachers just with higher tables.

the most disappointing part of the trip was definitely the food. what first struck me was the prices, $12 for fish and chips!!! are you joking? ignoring the fact that fish & chips isn't usually 'pub food', in most chippies in england a larger portion than this is around 3 pounds ($5). it shouldn't be this expensive! the same goes with other items on the menu too such as the bangers & mash (a traditionally cheap pub/home cooked meal that shouldn't cost over $10!)

we tried a few of the dishes including the chicken tikka masala, the fish & chips and the pork chops. firstly, the fish & chips didn't impress me at all. the batter was different to what i'm used to and tasted similar to how those gorton fillets are that you can buy in walmart (they obviously weren't these but the flavour and texture were very similar). the batter was pretty bland but as a whole they were cooked ok. the masala was pretty tasty. normally one of the mildest curries but they add a little more spice to it here which definitely improved the flavour, however for $12 i expected a larger portion. i only had a bite of the pork chops but they seemed well cooked and nicely seasoned.

overall, this place is far from an english pub. it is a restaurant that serves expensive versions of english meals that are alright, and a whole lot of american food too. they also have a decent beer selection at typical baton rouge prices.

excellent fare, great beer, terrific atmosphere. the londonerpuband grill is a great addition to the south baton rouge scene. 10+ visits and i haven't had a bad experience yet. the atmosphere is wonderful, whether for a beer after work, a night on the town, or a nice date. the portions are ample, the prices are fair, and the food and service are superb. i recommend the tower of london burger and the sheperd's pie, and the cheesy hampton fries are done perfectly. enjoy a pint from the ample beer list, and tip your server. if you haven't been yet, you are missing out!

wednesday night dinner. first time to the londer and loved it! the decorator did a phenomenal job! i felt like i was in apubright in the middle of london! the bar also made me reminisce of my days living in lincoln park, chicago. the server was cute and knowledgeable! my club sandwich on wheat was delish-i-oso and so fresh! i would love to organize a party in the back room with the pool tables for a client someday!

genuine imitation pub!. we've eaten here several times - it's a very pleasant imitation englishpub- well designed for the american market and slightly tongue in cheek... but nothing like the sort of pubs that i grew up in as a kid. if you're looking for a realpub- this isn't it - but that said, it's a pleasant place to eat and the food is generally better quality than you'd get in a real englishpub- but that's not saying a whole lot - it's average food by baton rouge standards.

there's a very good selection of beers (all served too cold but you can just let it sit there for a while to warm up) - it's a nice open atmosphere with friendly staff - a good place for a lads night out. let's face it - you're here for the beer - not the food.

it's worth noting that they have tables outside so unless it's really cold you can eat, drink and smoke here.
