noisy but good.steaksare great but it is a noisy, busy restaurant. fun place to go with a group but for a nice dinner for 2, there are nicer restaurants in saskatoon.

went with another couple for supper and enjoyed a very nice experience. the service was above average, thesteakswere quite good as were the seafood dishes i'm told. overall, a really nice meal. only small sticking point is the cost.

the saving grace for this place are the appetizers. although they are still over priced! i think the reason people think the keg has good food is because of the big price tag. more money does not equal more flavour! anything other than thesteaksare not good, salmon is over cooked. the chefs always overcook my steak too. the keg is just frustrating at best.

good low end steakhouse. when i want a good steak for a decent price i head to the keg. the sides are good and thesteaksare decent for the price point. service is good but be prepared to wait in line as the restaurant is very busy on the weekends.

good, consistent food.. yes, the keg is overpriced. i would not argue that at all. that being said, we always enjoy our food and know what we are getting and what we will be paying.

if you have not been before, they bring you warm sourdough bread to start, which really can fill you up. no matter how much i tell myself i am not touching the bread(i am a small eater and get full super easy), i just can not leave it alone! the mushrooms neptune would be the number one reason i go. they are the best stuffed mushrooms i have ever had and are always the same so we can count on them. the bread that comes with them however are confusing......dried out little hunks of ick. not sure why they are served with it when you already have warm fresh sourdough. those are not hard to ignore and not eat. the tempura beans and asparagus are also very good. my spouse liked the iceburg wedge salad so much i have been making it at home. bacon wrapped scallops are pretty standard but well cooked and tasty. same with french onion soup-not mnd altering but good.

for entrees we generally stick to steak and lobster. i wish they would bring back their sweet potato fries, they are so good. they came with a rosemary dipping sauce that motivated return visits. all thesteaksare good, i stick with tenderloin for the most part. they are a chain so held hostage by the franchisor but i do wish they could put the tenderloin with the surf and turf rather than just a new york. you can make a custom meal with add ons but you will be paying thru the nose.

if you want a good steak with some excellent starters, this is a safe bet with consistently good food. good wine list and great service.

good if a bit pricey. took my son here for his 20th birthday, i had called ahead to ask if they could do something (cake with sparklers etc) and again reminded when we arrived ahead of my son. nothing was done. so that was a disappointment. that aside, we did have a reservation but it was pretty quiet that night and would not have been a wait. our waiter was very good and attentive. we had the stuffed mushrooms as an appetiser, soooo good, i do not know how they get them so creamy but they really are spectacular-not sure why they serve them with the 2 little hunks of dried out buns though, those are truly horrible. the warm sourdough is consistently good. my son had the steak with half lobster and said it was very good, although i should have warned him you really don't get much meat in the half lobster, the full tail would have been a better choice. i had the blue cheese filet, which was amazing. there was so much of the blue cheese topping i shared with my spouse who had the sirloin dinner. both guys had baked potatoes, not rocket science but the keg does a good potato. i had the garlic mashed which were very good, especially with the au jus i requested. we go about once a year, maybe more if we have an occasion and want something reliable. prices are pretty high, i had a glass of wine and my son had 2 coronas so the bill was around $150 with tip.

lobster summer my a**. generally speaking i like the keg. yes, it's a little overpriced, but the service is terrific and thesteaksare cooked to perfection.

i would, however, avoid the lobster cobb salad like the plague. it's incredibly bland and not worth the $23 they charge for it. the dressing was plain olive oil with no lemon, vinegar or herbs to give it depth. basically, all you get is a couple of chunk of lobster and some crumbles of bacon dumped on top of romaine lettuce, then drenched (and i mean *drenched*) in olive oil. the menu claims there's feta cheese in there somewhere, but i certainly never found any.

also: when did it become a family restaurant? i like a relaxed atmosphere, but i don't like a kid screaming like a siren while i'm trying to have an adult conversation.

i will be back, and will avoid the lobster summer specials. overall, i do enjoy the restaurant.

consistently excellent. we go to the keg about once a month and it is always delicious. thesteaksare always cooked the same and always great, as is the rest of the menu. the servers are always very nice and attentive. if there's a wait we usually just eat at the bar and can get a seat there within 10 minutes, even on the busiest nights. meals always come quickly and we've been in and out within 45 minutes when we needed to be.
best place to go for a consistently excellent meal.

great for apps. ok, so i ended up coming back again to use up my gift cards but this time i stayed away from the steaks... nachos - a true home run. they were the best i have had in ages and the stuffed mushroom caps were to die for.

thank goodness! now i can happily spend my gift card bucks here and not give them away.

not worth the hassle. i keep getting gift cards to the keg and i have resolved to go for drinks only next time... maybe an appetizer...

thesteaksare always of poor quality that i have recieved... then i send it back and usualy get a better one but feel guilty for complaining. the complaint has ranged from getting a med-well steak when i ordered rare to having some sort of muscle / silver skin running through the middle of my meat that made it impossible to eat.

a shared app and 2 mains, drinks should not take 1.5 -2 hours

mistakes that should not happen. we came here on a rare evening out without our kids and had some gift certs to use... service was great but my steak was more than 50% connective tissue which just should never happen at a steak house...

second steak was well done (ordered rare) and by the time they offered to bring a 3rd steak, i wasn't hungry any more... the server felt very bad for me and made me feel less awkward after my second complaint... if that steak had shown even a little pink, i would have eaten it but it clearly must have been meant for someone else.

their apps are good but even without my steak, drinks, apps and 1 main still ran us $140 with tip. i think i can hopefully find something a little better for that price.

overrated and expensive. the keg and theirsteaksare way overrated. i've lived away from saskatoon for a number of years and i am always astounded at how people from this city flock to the keg in numbers which insure you wait 45 minutes for a table, and then when you finally get in, you get a mediocre steak for a major price. it ain't that good, even though the staff treats you like you're lucky to be in there...

amazing. my wife and i had an amazing meal at the keg tonight.
ordered the caesar salad to share and was surprised to see they split it into two plates both enough for each of us.
sirloin oscar and the teriyaki sirloin with crabs legs.
bothsteakswere cooked on the rare side of medium rare which was perfect, the seafood was excellent as well. to finish it off we had a couple delicious martinis and the 3 mini dessert option. needless to say we were over the top full but with everything tasting so great we had to go for it!.

the staff was exceptional during our visit, thank-you to justin the manager and our server liz.

still as good as i remembered. welcomed by a lobby filled with many groups of people trying to get in, our trio knew that the wait would be long: but the end of the tunnel was near and it would oh-so rewarding! we waited an hour before being seated and began paging through the menu.

our server was very knowledgeable of the menu and made sure that we were enjoying our experience. the meat in my bleu cheese filet was spectacularly aged (don't ask me how aging can be spectacular - but it was) and went splendidly with the bleu cheese souffle that accompanied it. our group ordered three different steaks, and each tasted uniquely fine in their own respects.

at the end of the entrees i was very full. but reading week has only started, so my rational was that with 7 extra days to exercise, i could probably squeeze dessert in there somewhere. bad move: my eyes could not believe the size of the pie slice that soon stared back at me. indeed, even our server said that my slice of billy miner pie was unusually large. oh well, i slowly hacked away at the beast until i slumped into the booth, somewhat victoriously.

i felt like quite the fat bloke at the end of the meal. a happy, fat bloke but still a fat bloke nonetheless.

overall, if you want a romantic meal at the keg, you had better come early and have at least half an hour's worth of romantic material prepared to gush to your girlfriend. because even though the wait is long, it most certainly worth it. the price is high (roughly $35 per person), so i will wait before my next visit here.

great! succulent!. i love the atmosphere at the keg! i usually order one of thesteaksbecause the quality i expect is always there. parking can pose an issue on busy nights, but once you get in, it is most definitely worth it! the staff and service are not only knowledgeable, but very efficient in keeping our glasses filled.
