real canadian food. as a european chef i was invited by friends to go to thekegand i have to say they surprised me. it’s canadian and they have steak and lots of other good foods on their menu. personally i think it’s a lot of food for a good price. i give thekega 8.5 out of 10.

just left dinner at thekegon 8th street saskatoon, sk. it was total speed dining!! they couldn't get us out fast enough!! ordered wine, appetizers, salad, steak, & dessert. got our wine & a minute later we got our salads - right the salads came before the appetizer, when did that become a thing? 5 minutes after we got our salads, our appetizers showed up, then 10 minutes later our meals showed up. we hadn't finished our salad or appetizers yet!! we mentioned to the server that this was extreme speed dining and his solutions was "i can take the meals back & put them under the heater till you're ready" yah, no thanks, don't want you to spit in it. so we accepted, them but had to hold our salad plates so he could put the meals down as there wasn't enough room for everything on the table & he had to clear the plates to fit the meal. when the bill & our regular server came back we complained about the speed dining and his comment was "oh so sorry, the kitchen kind of rushes things on fridays, thanks, have a good night" and then he ran off - no effort on his part at all. it was very apparent he just did not care at all. while we were there in our big 40 minute meal, we saw 2 other tables that had the exact same thing happen - salads, appetizers 2 minutes later, & meals before they finished the first 2 courses. this is not standard for a keg. i recommend you go to the granary restaurant in saskatoon instead. food as good or better than the keg, price is the same, but the service is 1000 times better!!

i always enjoy coming to thekegjust because the food is always good and what i expect it to be. the price and portion sizes are an issue but that's what you have to accept if you are going to this restaurant. a favourite of mine is the teriyaki steak and that has always been good and cooked perfectly to my preference. the service is always good and it has always been an enjoyable experience.

the saving grace for this place are the appetizers. although they are still over priced! i think the reason people think thekeghas good food is because of the big price tag. more money does not equal more flavour! anything other than the steaks are not good, salmon is over cooked. the chefs always overcook my steak too. thekegis just frustrating at best.

cattle country?. i love the keg. in vancouver i go 2 or 3 times a month. my favorite one is in yaletown. never had a bad meal. saskatoon is where i had a bad steak at thekegfor the first ( and hopefully only) time in my life. tough and flavorless. this is saskatchewan. isn't this where the steak is raised?

ended up going to thekegtonight for supper. busy on a friday night so we sat in the lounge. had the prime rib with a side of grilled veg, the prime rib came out perfect medium rare. great flavour especially with the horseradish. which is by far the best on the city, clears the sinuses in seconds. thanks to ashley, for the great service.

better service with a packed house.
thekeghas always been a go to date night spot for my fiancé and i. the thai chicken is to die for and my fiancé loves the prime rib. tonight was the first bad experience we've had with the keg. our server was great to start with when the lounge was packed right full, very attentive and always asking if we needed another drink. the second the lounge cleared out our service was terrible. my thai chicken for the first time ever was so over cooked and dry, meanwhile our server stood right behind our table chatting with friends at the bar about her latest diet fails for over 20 mins while we sat with empty drinks and empty plates except for the lone dry chicken breast. i will say thank you to the manager as he handled it well and took the chicken off our bill entirely. however our server should have known better than to stand next to our table chatting with friends for as long as she did and leaving us completely unattended. disappointed to say the least. moral of the story, you'll have a great experience if you go during prime time, otherwise prepare to be forgotten.

great new year's eve. we went here for new year's eve and we were not disappointed. my partner had the blue cheese filet mignon which was cooked to the perfect temperature (medium rare) and was absolutely delicious. i had prime rib which was also quite tasty even though it was more medium well than the medium i ordered. i also had a lobster tail which was fantastic (i'm from the east coast and was quite surprised). our waiter was quite friendly; although it took a while to get a second drink. however, this could have been to how busy it was at the time.

best prime rib ever!. i visited thekegfor the first time tonight and absoulutely loved the prime rib with priscoitto wrapped shrimp. the prime rib was very tender and the perfect cooking temp (medium). i became a little adventurous and tried the escargot for an appetizer and i was not disappointed. the escargot come in mushroom caps and cooked in a sauce (garlic i believe). if you are looking for a romantic quiet atmosphere, i wouldn't recommend the keg. since it was a friday evening, the place is quite crowded and noisy. my server, on the other hand, was fantastic (quite infomative and friendly). two thumbs up for the keg! :d

good, consistent food.. yes, thekegis overpriced. i would not argue that at all. that being said, we always enjoy our food and know what we are getting and what we will be paying.

if you have not been before, they bring you warm sourdough bread to start, which really can fill you up. no matter how much i tell myself i am not touching the bread(i am a small eater and get full super easy), i just can not leave it alone! the mushrooms neptune would be the number one reason i go. they are the best stuffed mushrooms i have ever had and are always the same so we can count on them. the bread that comes with them however are confusing......dried out little hunks of ick. not sure why they are served with it when you already have warm fresh sourdough. those are not hard to ignore and not eat. the tempura beans and asparagus are also very good. my spouse liked the iceburg wedge salad so much i have been making it at home. bacon wrapped scallops are pretty standard but well cooked and tasty. same with french onion soup-not mnd altering but good.

for entrees we generally stick to steak and lobster. i wish they would bring back their sweet potato fries, they are so good. they came with a rosemary dipping sauce that motivated return visits. all the steaks are good, i stick with tenderloin for the most part. they are a chain so held hostage by the franchisor but i do wish they could put the tenderloin with the surf and turf rather than just a new york. you can make a custom meal with add ons but you will be paying thru the nose.

if you want a good steak with some excellent starters, this is a safe bet with consistently good food. good wine list and great service.

good if a bit pricey. took my son here for his 20th birthday, i had called ahead to ask if they could do something (cake with sparklers etc) and again reminded when we arrived ahead of my son. nothing was done. so that was a disappointment. that aside, we did have a reservation but it was pretty quiet that night and would not have been a wait. our waiter was very good and attentive. we had the stuffed mushrooms as an appetiser, soooo good, i do not know how they get them so creamy but they really are spectacular-not sure why they serve them with the 2 little hunks of dried out buns though, those are truly horrible. the warm sourdough is consistently good. my son had the steak with half lobster and said it was very good, although i should have warned him you really don't get much meat in the half lobster, the full tail would have been a better choice. i had the blue cheese filet, which was amazing. there was so much of the blue cheese topping i shared with my spouse who had the sirloin dinner. both guys had baked potatoes, not rocket science but thekegdoes a good potato. i had the garlic mashed which were very good, especially with the au jus i requested. we go about once a year, maybe more if we have an occasion and want something reliable. prices are pretty high, i had a glass of wine and my son had 2 coronas so the bill was around $150 with tip.
