shortly after the original hussars opened in rondebosch in ‘64, my brother took me there to taste the “best steaks “ in cape town - and it was a memorable experience!
never had the opportunity to go back though, but never forgot it. although
when i saw that a branch had opened at the montecasino, i reckoned it was time to try it again.
we took a chance by not booking, so had to sit at the bar until a table became available.
the staff were friendly and helpful.
although theservicewas good, our steaks were no better than average - slightly overcooked and containing a small percentage of gristle - sadly not the best steak i have ever had, but not unpleasant.
we are prepared to give it another chance though, and try something other then steak.

hi celebrated our 53rd anniversary for lunch, 5 star treatment, plus a complimentary bottle of their red wine and two vodka martinis and an ice cream fruit and nut dessert , you cannot beat thatservicetoday! well done guys, we will definitely frequent more often.

upon arrival we were greeted by the front of house and we were introduced to a very friendly waiter..
after being seated we received a complimentary snack..
i was very impressed by the menu and theserviceoverall..
i will definitely be back, i haven't had a combination of great food,serviceand value for money in a while..

there was a little booboo with our table, but brian and rita more than made up for it. we had a lovely dinner and theservicewas great. we even went back after the show for coffee and dessert. thank you to the lovely staff and managers!!! we will be back for sure.

dinner before a show had a lovely vibe.servicefrom isaac was on point, friendly and efficient. the menu makes it clear this is really a steak restaurant which absolutely suited me. there was also a reasonable selection of alternatives should you not be going steak. i ordered a rump steak medium rare, chips, veg, onion rings for the table and a madagascar green peppercorn sauce. despite being cooked to a perfect med rare, the rump steak had absolutely no fat on it. i know some people complain if they are served steak with fat on it but that is a rump steak i'm afraid. it also adds considerably to the flavour of the meat when cooking. i can live with the no fat though however maybe giving a with or without option would be good. the part that really killed it for me though was the worcestershire sauce. the steak seemed to have been dipped in neat worcestershire sauce after cooking. this completely overpowered the meat flavor and destroyed the meal. even the sauce (which unfortunately had no depth of flavour to help in the battle) couldn't fight the worcestershire sauce into the background. simple seasoning would have changed this experience considerably.

nice venue with lots of room at the montecasino. friendlyservicefrom the management to the waiters, everything was served with a smile. the meals were prepared to perfection with the meat still tender and juicy.

the ambiance was amazing. our waitress gave us top classserviceand the prawns were amazing. i had an awesome time here. we also got complementary chocolate vodka shots as dessert!

enjoyed lunch with some old friends and colleagues. food andservicewas great value for money.
loved the variety of the menu also.

went to the hussar grill restaurant for dinner before watching a show at the monteteatro. all in all it was a good choice! this place is really a steak restaurant. everybody on our table had different cuts of meat which all was grilled to everybody's specific liking. i ordered the 600g t-bone (rare) and was not disappointed at all. it was grilled perfectly and had a good portion of fillet and sirloin to it. the food was really good (you must order the onion rings). my only complaint is the fact that although we ordered our food timeously and notified our waiter of our pending show, that theservicewas a bit slow and we had to rush in the end to finish our food before the doors to the show closed (but i can say that during this whole time all the staff members were still friendly and helpful).

celebrated a 50th birthday with a menu that was very reasonable. portions were good.servicewas good and food quality was excellent. management was open to the flash mob i arranged as a surprise.

my mom and i went to the hussar grill in the middle of december 2018 and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

theservicewas impeccable and the atmosphere very welcoming. the staff were kind and attentive.

our drinks were delightful, the cape town pink lady gin and tonics in particular, and the food even more so. my mom ordered the parmesan chicken breasts. the chicken was cooked to perfection and the mash was creamy and soft. i ordered the hussar burger with extra cheese and bacon. the burger was huge and absolutely delicious. the food was spectacular and we couldn’t have picked a better place for our meal of the day.

the manager of the restaurant checked on us frequently and even offered a complimentary taste of their speciality chocolate martini dessert. we both really enjoyed that and found it to finish off our meal nicely.

overall i highly recommend the hussar grill to families, friends and couples looking for a fairly priced but excellent meal.

i have gone to the hussar grill so many times and every time the food andservicehas been excellent. they never disappoint. i highly recommend the hussar grill for an exquisite dining experience.

after being to the waterfall brunch, expectations were high and we not disappointed. keeping the franchise decor, with wine displays, a bar area, woods and leathers, it is a typical steakhouse.

those olives and sweet potato crisps are yummy, we opted for a steak and lamb chops. both perfectly done to our liking, steak medium with pepper crust, buttery mash and blue cheese sauce, lamb chops medium well.servicewas good and a winter nightcap complimentary of chocolate sauce vodka and cream to end.
