the friendly tavern

my husband and i have gone to this restaurant numerous times and always hadgoodservice andgoodfood. however, our last visit was not pleasant at all. terrible service, especially the waitress, and the food was way overcooked. is there a new manager or cook? this last visit puts a question mark in my mind if i will ever return or recommend, as i have numerous times.
our waitress was especially bad. the restaurant was busy, but not packed, as there were empty tables. our waitress continually ignored our table, constantly serviced and chit chatted with the table next to us. our meal took forever come to the table and i ordered a medium rare burger, and received a well done dry burger. waitress never returned to our table to inquire if we needed anything or how our meal was. we had to wave her down to even get our check, and again, had to wait for her to pick up our credit card so we could leave. very disappointed!!

had the ribeye with loaded baked potato. the steak was cooked perfectly not over seasoned. actually needed just a hint of salt.goodflavor. the bake potato was great. it has been a long time since i had a potato that smooth and creamy and perfectly cooked. it was a local tavern. glad i got there early because it filled up fast and got noisy quick.enjoyed my meal none the less.

stopped by for some appetizers. horeradish cheese & crackers were great as always. tried the nachos. plentiful portion andgoodtasting. sample the onion rings, but a little thick cut for my personal preference. pics included. enjoy. 20150926

best burger in town!. i remember this place from several years ago. i was doing some work in town and stopped in for lunch. recently i stopped in and found that the nice lady that ran the bar was still there! this place has a great burger and frys!goodservice and very friendly. all out burger with buffalo chips!

what a great find!. a friend and i went here for a late dinner wednesday. we arrived a bit after 8:00 and it was busy, but as we soon found out... most of those people came for the dinner rush and were wrapping up their meals... most had departed before we even got our food.

they have a nice simple menu that isn't so full of items that can't do any well.

i opted for the chopped steak and it was excellent. it seemed to be a reallygoodvalue for the meal in that i got a giant side salad, a baked potato and the chopped steak with onions and mushrooms plus a soda for $13 and change. my friend had the reuben and it wasgoodas well. not sure if the business dies down after 8:00 like that after rush hour on friday and saturday too... my husband and i might go tonight after he gets off work to test out that theory.

the friendly has verygoodtavern food for very reasonable prices. its usually very busy so drink service can be pretty slow. however, if you are like me and in your 20's, or even look young, you kinda get dirty looks by the locals, and dont expect to have more than 2-3 beers before they give you the check and expect you to leave.goodfood spot, bad drinking spot.

friendly tavern is friendly. being a transplant to indianapolis area, i made it a conscious decision to break out and go to as many "safe" and "accepting" places as possible. zionsville is supposedly suspect in this regard...but this place was very nice and the servers were witty and helpful.

the first time i had the turkey reuben and a glass of lemonade. that reuben was great!

the second time i had a prime rib hoagie...wow! i was as full as a tick off that. very good!

the 3rd time i had picked up a friend from outta town and she was hungry. she was staying with friends in carmel and so i took her here and she demolished their turkey burger. i'm pretty sure it was good! lol. i had already eaten so i just have the apple dumpling with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. yummy!

the friendly tavern is a friendly place and they have verygoodfood!

best in zionsville!. great food, fair price,goodservice unless packed which is understandable. can't beat the daily specials. the best wings anywhere! broasted not fried. if you are looking for low fat, fofo food, forget about it. go to one of overpriced $5 cup of coffee of dives.

fine pub food. large portions. my wife and i sometimes split an entree. try the tenderloin or the fish sandwich but the burgers aregoodas well. i like the house fries.
