the friendly tavern

other than how salty the pork tenderloin was - and the fact that you are literally sitting on top of one another in some places in the dining area - i'd say that my overall experience at thefriendlytavern was very favorable. some people may like the saltiness of the tenderloin more than i did, but i couldn't deny how moist and tender the pork was in the sandwich. the service i had was attentive,friendlyand prompt. i couldn't ask more for my experience at thefriendlytavern other than less salt in the breaded pork tenderloin.

on may 20th, my wife and i had lunch at thefriendlytavern. i thought i had the tenderloin when i was their prior, but i think i had the pork chops instead.  their tenderloin is very good.  the tenderloin is thin and the breading is light but well seasoned. it comes on a bun with all the fixings. it reminds me a lot of the tenderloin at the hilltop inn in evansville, but the seasoning in the breading is better at thefriendlytavern.

found an excellent beef manhattan in zionsville. mom had the breaded tenderloin and gave it high marks as well.friendlyplace and staff, great vibe too. worth a visit!!

mr. john smith. thefriendlyis a great place to go and eat with close friends. the food is excellent, i personally love the rib eye or the filet mignon the chicken wings are also a fav of mine. two persons could eat them and have some left! they are not like most places where you can't decide if they are pigeon wings or the chicken died of starvation....no these babies are plump and good. the atmosphere is a bit noisy as the evening draws on but worth every minute!!

winter decided to ease up on us a bit and let the temperature soar to 40 degrees. so in celebration we decided to head north to hamilton county , specifically zionsville. a small town known for high property values, smart little shops and thefriendlytavern. now who can resist a joint withfriendlyin its name? this place has been around for more than 35 years. we know this because our bartender has worked there for 35 years. now that is staying power for both the place and the person. she has gone through 4 owners during that time. i dare say people would think they came into the wrong place were she not there. the menu features typical tavern fare, is reasonably priced and pat approved. http://kosherhamandcheese.wordpress.com/?p=2535&preview=true i noticed that their chili had won an award in the past. so, since the past is where most old dudes are comfortable, it seemed as though i should give it a try. i am glad i did. it was one of the best mid west style cups of chili i have eat

very friendly. i usually visit thefriendlytavern once every couple of weeks and the food is always fantastic! i've had the opportunity to introduce this fine eatery to my out of town parents and brother and they are hooked as well. keep up the great work and will see you soon!!

delicious. we saw thefriendlytavern listed in the indy food guide we received for working the super bowl.
we decided to try it one night after we were finished.....and haven't missed a weekend since.
the service is supurb and the owners are super friendly!

thefriendlyhas very good tavern food for very reasonable prices. its usually very busy so drink service can be pretty slow. however, if you are like me and in your 20's, or even look young, you kinda get dirty looks by the locals, and dont expect to have more than 2-3 beers before they give you the check and expect you to leave. good food spot, bad drinking spot.

friendly tavern is friendly. being a transplant to indianapolis area, i made it a conscious decision to break out and go to as many "safe" and "accepting" places as possible. zionsville is supposedly suspect in this regard...but this place was very nice and the servers were witty and helpful.

the first time i had the turkey reuben and a glass of lemonade. that reuben was great!

the second time i had a prime rib hoagie...wow! i was as full as a tick off that. very good!

the 3rd time i had picked up a friend from outta town and she was hungry. she was staying with friends in carmel and so i took her here and she demolished their turkey burger. i'm pretty sure it was good! lol. i had already eaten so i just have the apple dumpling with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. yummy!

thefriendlytavern is afriendlyplace and they have very good food!

great service! great food!. the service is sooo good. we went to (but will never return to) oobatz up the street and the service at thefriendlytavern blows them out of the water. the food is great too!

thefriendlytavern in zionsville.. best cheeseburgers ever. beats red robin hands down. flavor is through-out the entire burger. not like a lot of places that just throw some season salt on top. they have great steak fries and veryfriendlystaff. a++++++++ rating for them

amazing fish sandwich!. my husband and i love going to thefriendlytavern. i am a reuben fanatic, so i almost always order that, but last evening i ordered the fish sandwich with fries. it was huge! the fish was twice as long as the bun, and it was fried to golden perfection. the flavor is so delicate! the waitress (who was wonderful, by the way) said that it is the same fish used in the white fish platter and you get 2 fillets. i believe i'll get that on our next trip tofriendlytavern.

great food!. thefriendlyconsistently serves great food at a great price. service is always......well.......friendly! i've never tried the hot wings because i just can't move beyond the fried chicken wings--they are fantastic! i recently ate there for lunch and had the half sandwich/soup combo. the bread was fresh and overflowing with chicken salad and the tomato soup was flavorful. all of this for just under $6! i would recommend this place to everyone. it's worth the wait.

best hot wings in the usa. i have tried hot wings all over the country. i have a friend from michigan who is a dedicated connoisseur of hot wings. we both unanimously agree that thefriendlytavern has the best hot wings in the us, bar none. my reasons: 1.) they really are hot. 2.) the sauce is fantastic 3.) great meat (i.e., no gizzard'esque pieces) 4.) there are a lot of them 5.) they come with great fries.

every time i am back in indy/zionsville i make sure to stop in. for a main course, the fried chicken is a solid choice. they have a saying at thefriendlythat i found to be true -

"you are only a stranger once at thefriendlytavern"
