the friendly tavern

other than how salty the pork tenderloin was - and the fact that you are literally sitting on top of one another in some places in the dining area - i'd say that my overall experience at the friendly tavern was very favorable. some people may like the saltiness of the tenderloin more than i did, but i couldn't deny how moist and tender the pork was in the sandwich. the service i had was attentive, friendly and prompt. i couldn't ask more for my experience at the friendly tavern other than less salt in the breaded pork tenderloin.

terrible service, wish i could have tried the food but after our waiter sat us we ordered water, then he rudely walked away and never came back. other waiters ignored us, i was prepared to spend over $60 that night but they will not be getting my service.

my husband and i have gone to this restaurant numerous times and always had good service and good food. however, our last visit was not pleasant at all. terrible service, especially the waitress, and the food was way overcooked. is there a new manager or cook? this last visit puts a question mark in my mind if i will ever return or recommend, as i have numerous times.
our waitress was especially bad. the restaurant was busy, but not packed, as there were empty tables. our waitress continually ignored our table, constantly serviced and chit chatted with the table next to us. our meal took forever come to the table and i ordered a medium rare burger, and received a well done dry burger. waitress never returned to our table to inquire if we needed anything or how our meal was. we had to wave her down to even get our check, and again, had to wait for her to pick up our credit card so we could leave. very disappointed!!

had the ribeye with loaded baked potato. the steak was cooked perfectly not over seasoned. actually needed just a hint of salt. good flavor. the bake potato was great. it has been a long time since i had a potato that smooth and creamy and perfectly cooked. it was a local tavern. glad i got there early because it filled up fast and got noisy quick.enjoyed my meal none the less.

awesome food!! if you're ever in zionsville you need to get lunch or dinner here. i love the reuben. and their kettle chips are delicious! my family of 4 ate for $40. our waiter was very attentive and friendly. very helpful with suggestions on the menu as well. i highly recommend this place!

the best wings i've ever had!!! small restaurant bar in the heart of zionsville. the sandwiches are good! i've never had the pork tenderloin, but everyone that has had the tenderloin absolutely love it! my wife always orders the salad and lives that!! it's very crowded on friday and saturday nights! closed on sunday's!

on may 20th, my wife and i had lunch at the friendly tavern. i thought i had the tenderloin when i was their prior, but i think i had the pork chops instead.  their tenderloin is very good.  the tenderloin is thin and the breading is light but well seasoned. it comes on a bun with all the fixings. it reminds me a lot of the tenderloin at the hilltop inn in evansville, but the seasoning in the breading is better at the friendly tavern.

found an excellent beef manhattan in zionsville. mom had the breaded tenderloin and gave it high marks as well. friendly place and staff, great vibe too. worth a visit!!

excellent food. we asked diane what was recommended and we had wings and pork tenderloin sandwich. it was excellent and they even split the plates for my husband and i as we shared it. no kids allowed, older crowd, great bar.

mr. john smith. the friendly is a great place to go and eat with close friends. the food is excellent, i personally love the rib eye or the filet mignon the chicken wings are also a fav of mine. two persons could eat them and have some left! they are not like most places where you can't decide if they are pigeon wings or the chicken died of starvation....no these babies are plump and good. the atmosphere is a bit noisy as the evening draws on but worth every minute!!

very slow service. waited at table an hour for food with no apologies. ordered the cajun ribeye special and i'm pretty sure it was a sirloin srip. it was so salty and tuff i could barely choke it down.

great find. while at a training, we found this tavern in a really nice part of town. easy parking, excellent service, and the food was delicious.

one of my favorites. amazing breaded wings, probably the best i've had. they always have a few specials which you can't beat for flavor and freshness. homemade salad dressings are on point. their spinach artichoke dip is clearly homemade and clearly delicious! fried shrimp are large, plump, with a thin crispy breading which doesn't overwhelm the shrimp. to top it all off they have a homemade cheesecake and the flavor changes either daily or weekly. if you go when they have the butterscotch cheesecake do yourself a favor and splurge on it, you won't regret it!

we tried to go in at 11:15am on a saturday. they wouldn't seat us because we had our 7 year old with us. considering the very large menu they said it was a bar and no minors are allowed. the place was completely empty and our daughter hadn't even made a sound - it's not like we would've been disruptive to anyone.
so apparently it's a bar, not a restaurant. don't go unless everyone is 21+

love the food!. love this place! always consistent and so reasonably priced. have to be in the mood for a loud atmosphere, but the food is well worth the wait and noise. the owner is always there to seat you. a sign of a great restaurant - the owner is "hands on".
