the floridan came highly recommended by several locals including a waitress at another restaurant. this down homerestaurant serves up healthy southern comfort food that’s regionally-authentic and full of southern charm. they have many vegetarian options plus are happy to substitute tempeh or tofu for many of the meat dishes. you’ll see the option for tempeh or tofu clearly marked as an option on the menu. their menus change with the seasons, so you ‘re always guaranteed the freshest local ingredients. we tried the tofu n’dumplings made with sweet potatoes and served with cornbread. we also ordered the spicy melt sandwich which comes with blackened tofu, datil-chipotle mayo, roasted bell peppers, tomato and fresh spinach on whole wheat bread. both were very good, but we’ve been dreaming of the and can’t wait to go back for some more.

definitely worth trying. my wife & i chose this place because we found that they had gluten free options and with her having celiac disease - can't eat wheat items - this was very important. after arriving, we found most of their entree's can be made gluten free and their staff seemed to be very knowledgeable about their gluten free items which we were very thrilled to find out. we shared an order of grit cakes, which was a pretty decent appetizer being gluten free and all, followed by our entrees of a pork chop, which i had, and the zucchini linguine which my wife had. i did feel that the prices here were a little more than what they should have been by a dollar or two but we were very pleased with our food and the overall experience. for anyone looking for arestaurantwith decent gluten free options, i would definitely add this place to the list.

we were wondering around st augustine and sort of stumbled across the floridian. happy accident. they were busy so we sat at a high top in the bar. our server was friendly and efficient. we split the not your mama's meatloaf sandwich. the beef is locally farmed and topped with datil ketchup on housemade ciabatta with basil aoli, tomatoes and spinach and chips. really tasty. half was enough because it was so big. therestaurantwas kitschy and fun. we will be back

i was so excited to eat here and i loved my machoux (sp). the shrimp, sausage, and risotto were packed full of flavor and i loved that it was made gluten free for my dietary needs! however my mom ordered the steak frites and found the meat to be flavorful but very chewy and tough. i think this is an example of what you get at arestaurantis just as an important and therestaurantitself. i loved it!

i was not very impressed with southern food until i came here, and this place just rocked my world. they take shrimp and grits to a whole new level. worth every penny. in my opinion best dine inrestaurantin st. agustine, and yes i can say that because i have eaten at everyrestaurantin the area. skip columbia and come here !

this place sucks. it was recommended to me by another restaurant. do you like the sound of a slamming door all night while waiting for your food? ugh. as for the food; i ordered the meat & potatoes. only had 6 tables & the food took 20 minutes plus. i'm not impressed.restaurantwas very loud. as for the food when it did arrive it was ok.

if you are ever in saint augustine, do yourself a favor and come here. therestauranthas nice decor and the patio is very welcoming. we had he griddle cakes which were good, but the meat and potatoes really stole the show. i have never had such a flavorful and delicious meat and potatoes dish, it had seasonal veggies and shrimp also, and i have never had such deicious garlic mashed potatoes anywhere. the shrimp and sausage rice dish was also good, the local sausage was super yummy. the service was outstanding and the portions were also large. the key lime cheesecake was good, nothing too special. and the southern gentleman whisky drink was also incredible. i highly recommend this place to anybody looking for a good dinner.

great food in st augustine. good service, inventive food, great flavor combos that pleased both vegan and meat eater alike. we were in a party of 6. long wait for the table but once seated the service was great even though therestaurantwas packed. really nice menu had something for everyone at the table; not an easy thing with the group we were with. it is notable that everyone at the table which included two locals were first timers and they all agreed it was their favoriterestaurantin the area... and it was a great value to boot!

the eclecticrestaurantprides itself on its relationship with the many vendors in the area and supporting the local community no matter their taste or preference. the restaurant’s slogan is “innovative southern fare for omnivores, herbivores, locavores,” and this remains throughout the menu. no matter if you are vegetarian, vegan or even gluten intolerant, therestauranthas something to accommodate any guest.

service was a bit lacking, but in defense of the server, she had the entire patio to herself and some inside tables too. i had the citrus pork chop and it was great. i had to step to the back of therestaurantto the bar in order to get my glass of wine because i was told they could not deliver it to the table. there is a church across the street and that apparently is the "rule" or "ordinance" for the city. the atmosphere is great and i had a good time. i will try anotherrestaurantin town next time however.

great food and atmosphere. we arrived without reservations on a monday night. so, we decided to eat outside in the cold instead of walking up the street. the wait staff was very friendly and attentive. the food was fantastic. nice variety of beer and wine. loved it!

my wife and i own a highly rated thairestaurantin tampa and we love to visit other restaurants recommended by urbanspoons users. we weren't disappointed and neither will you.

vegetarian delight!. i sat outside under lush tropical trees and enjoyed the florida sunshine salad. what a delicious combination of tastes--blackened tempeh atop a beautiful array of spinach and local lettuce, strawberries, roasted sweet potato squares, toasted pecans, blue cheese, and pickled beets. really too lovely to eat! i didn't think i could possibly eat the whole salad, but i did and felt wonderfully healthy afterwards. i also love the floridian's commitment to supporting local farmers. therestaurantis on the fringe of the spanish quarter on cordova street across from flagler college--worth venturing off the beaten tourist path. closed on tuesdays. a must if you are in st. augustine!

the floridian is my fave. i've loved the floridian since being introduced to the amazing food there this past winter. each time i come to st. augustine, i look forward to the wonderful, fresh, and delicious offerings. recently, genie and jeff helped ensure that a 60th birthday party for my partner was a memorable occasion for family and friends. thisrestaurantcaptures the flavor and vibe of st. augustine and shouldn't be missed. i'm already looking forward to my next trip back!
