in love.... we walked in here because it was on the street where we were staying. the place is charming, the service was great (i think our waitresses name was morgan, she made us feel right at home.) the atmosphere is very laid back, no one is rushing you. the menu has something for everyone, i had the tofufloridianand my husband had the meatloaf sandwich and we both loved the dishes. this is by far my favorite place i have eaten in st. augustine. will definitely be back!

my sister and i visited thefloridianon saturday, 3/16. we were quoted an hour wait since we had no reservation, but we waited about twenty minutes. the hostesses were extremely friendly and hospitable.

we were seated in the very nice upstairs dining room at a table suitable for six (there were only two of us). service was a little strange, but efficient.

we ordered company’s coming as a starter (pictured) which was really lovely. sister had o.j. (“interesting” and “very sweet”) and i had lemonade — the flavor of the day was pineapple orange (it was amazing). i ordered the meat and potatoes (also pictured) and my sister had the steak frites. food was excellent - my steak was a little rare for my taste (ordered medium, it came medium rare) but extremely well seasoned and so beautifully tender i could cut it with my fork.

i would come again for sure. the best meal i’ve had in st. augustine by far.

great spin on florida cuisine!. we eat at "nouveau southern" restaurants often because they usually offer locally-sourced food, they're owned locally, and even if they're not always brilliant, they're always *interesting*. so i was thrilled when we found thefloridianin st. augustine. unlike all the other farmed-chinese-fish, red-lobster-knockoff, boring "seafood restaurants" in st. augustine, thefloridianoffers florida-caught fish and shrimp on a unique, regionally inspired menu.

our family of five arrived on a sunday evening to a packed house and so were seated on the back patio, which was lovely, shady, cool, and includes a ping pong table which kept my kids occupied whenever they weren't stuffing their faces. we ordered the pickled shrimp, the cheese plate, the posole floridian, the barbecue chicken & waffles, the barbecue pork & waffles, the shrimp & grits, and pilau. everything was fantastic. i was particularly thrilled to find pilau (pronounced "purloo") on the menu. pilau is an intensely regional dish that goes back to the original european settlers in florida, who grew rice up and down the st. johns river. the datil peppers featured in many dishes are also grown commercially only in the st. augustine area. despite the packed house, our waiter was prompt and attentive, and our food came out in reasonable amounts of time. the beer was cold and the food was worth savoring over a long dinner.

thefloridianis better than nouveau southern, it's nouveau cracker, and i heartily approve. i hope other hotshot chefs pay attention- honoring your region with seasonal menus and doing the research on local food and agricultural history works. we will definitely be back.

unbelievable quality... every. time.. i'm from the central florida area and travel up to st. augustine only a couple of times a year. the past two times we've gone up, we've made sure to stop at thefloridianfor lunch or dinner. the food is absolutely exquisite, undeniably fresh, and absolutely beautiful. most recently i ordered their chicken n' waffles dinner entree. hands down, it was one of the best things i have ever eaten. the flavors came together seamlessly and the entire dish was so fresh. we ordered dessert as well and my boyfriend decided to go for some blueberry pie. to our surprise, he was given his own little pie - honestly, big enough for the two of us! he had no problem finishing it off by himself, haha. it's honestly become one of the highlights of our trips up to the area. we look forward to returning again. :)

incredible food!. i chose thefloridianduring an overnight stay in st. augustine based on urbanspoon and was so happy i did. the atmosphere was very cool but more importantly the food was absolutely amazing. the waitress and bartender were both really nice. the food was so good that we actually tried to eat there again the next day before we left town but were unable to. ignore any poor reviews, this place is phenomenal.

thefloridianhas amazing food. it reminds me of the grit in athens, ga. my boyfriend and i enjoyed a casual, romantic dinner with fgt bruschetta and the spicy melt. the atmosphere was pleasant and intimate, and next time i'm in st. augustine, i'll go back.

a little too casual. we did not eat at thefloridianbecause we observed some unacceptable kitchen practices while we were waiting for an inside table to become available on sunday afternoon. we sat on a bench that afforded us a view of the kitchen and we saw some things that made us decide to leave and eat elsewhere. i was really disappointed because i had wanted to eat there for so long.

thefloridianis my fave. i've loved thefloridiansince being introduced to the amazing food there this past winter. each time i come to st. augustine, i look forward to the wonderful, fresh, and delicious offerings. recently, genie and jeff helped ensure that a 60th birthday party for my partner was a memorable occasion for family and friends. this restaurant captures the flavor and vibe of st. augustine and shouldn't be missed. i'm already looking forward to my next trip back!

my wife and i just left thefloridianand were blown away by the food. started off with fried green tomatoe bruschetta and fried pickles. the bruschetta was completely different than what we were expecting but so great. fried green tomato on top of french bread with spinach and basil with some sort of balsamic dressing. unbelievable. and the fried pickles with butter milk herb dressing fried with cornmeal batter. sweet bo peep! i had the burger with provolone which was local fresh meat and provolone with a fantastic roll. one of the absolute best burgers i have ever had hands down. wife had the adult mac and cheese which is a mashed cauliflower with barley with fresh sausage. she absolutely loved it and so did i as i kept reaching for bites. then we finished up with pecan pie and sour cream apple pie. this was the absolute best meal we have had here while we have visited st. augustine. we have tried the raintree, bistro de leon ( which was great also!) as well as a few smaller places. thefloridianis hands down our favorite. we can't wait to go again tomorrow night.

what a great find! this small, unassuming cafe between the old city and flagler college is an overall great dining experience. the menu features primarily locally-sourced ingredients and includes lots of florida seafood. everything is prepared in-house and served by knowledgable and attentive staff. we are so glad we found thefloridianand we will certainly be back again. it is a refreshing change from the normal mediocre tourist fare.

fresh, delicious and healthy. top choice of places to eat. at home i grow all my own organic vegetables, and i could tell from first bite to last that thefloridianis serious about where they obtain their edibles. all tasted as if it were freshly plucked from the garden, cleaned and plated. the meals are as diverse as they are delicious and even though the fare had some flair, they were able to acomodate my children's palettes with grace and ease. highly recommended, and i look forward to going back time and time again.

so good!. we have dined at thefloridianmore than once and both times were excellent. we first came for dinner. the service was perfect and so was the food. we started with the house made pickles with the pimento cheese! that is a must! for dinner we ordered the shrimp and grits, chicken n dumplings, dixie burger and fish and grits. i tried all of the dishes and all were tasty. you could tell the ingredients were fresh as well! for our second experience we had lunch and ordered the dixie burger and the snowbird with fish. both came with a small side salad with a delicious house dressing, which we actually asked if we could buy and did! once again great! i would recommend this place to everyone-fresh and local what more could you ask for!
