we aren't hipster enough to appreciate this place. overpriced, opened late, wait staff not attentive. food was good but way too $$$. maybe i'd have appreciated it more if we'd smoked a joint before brunch. won't go back.

not so great. i have been wanting to try this place. went for a late lunch taking out of town guests. food was passable but very overpriced. service was decent. worst complaint was the employees, including kitchen help, bartender, waitresses and hostess all took a very noisy break at the bar not far from tables in the dining room making it hard for guests to even have a conversation. not a very professional impression to leave for diners. will probably not want to try again.

pleasantly impressed. despite the negative reviews, which are pretty negative, i went there with my wife. we arrived 20 minutes early with reservations and were promptly seated and greeted by our server.
we ordered the cheese plate as a starter and each of the 4 cheeses and topping (assorted candied fruits, etc..) was perfectly paired. my wife, not the cheese lover, was impressed...and ate most of it before i could.
dinner was the teres major (a cut like the tenderloin) and i had the chicken. i don't think i've ever had a better chicken anywhere and the steak was cooked perfectly. everything on the plates was delicious and paired perfectly with the meat.
the beer menu, also impressive, was wonderful. i had a paired beer with my dinner and it was great.
the last thing to hit our stomachs was the carrot cake. uhhh...fantastic. my wife and i had smiles the whole dinner... a seldom thing from the quality of food and preparation.

i'm not sure what happened with the people with the negative reviews, but this place is one of the best places i've been to in a long time. we will definitely dine there again...

one of my favorite restaurants in kc. laid back, servers are really personable. brunch isn't the best but lunch and dinner are sophisticated and delightful. it's similar to spring st. in ny.

the best part about weddings is catching up with old friends. last weekend, we celebrated charlie and jacquie stenger's wedding day in kansas city. i was so excited to see one of my best friends, jolene. the trip started off well with an upgrade to first class! yes! jolene picked us up and we went to meet some friends (mark, hannah, kevin and laney) at the cashew . the cashew has a good liquor selection and a fun atmosphere for drinks. the next morning we realized we had a little to much fun at the bars so we needed some brunch before the wedding. we went to the farmhouse based on a recommendation from a woman on my flight. the farmhouse is a super cute spot and has great artwork. don't order the biscuits and gravy... they tasted like raw flour. my eggs benedict were good, but the eggs were overdone. we were off to the wedding after filling our tummies. we took a break on the way to the reception and stopped by mcfadden's for a beer. i couldn't leave kc without a boulevard wheat:) afte

needs improvements. we went to the farmhouse with excitement and anticipation but were brought back to reality in short order. it was a saturday evening and we were one of 4 couples out for dinner and drinks. the waitress was not sure of what the menu had to offer and had to go back to the kitchen several times to check on the specials and how things were prepared. also one of the parties sent back there gin and tonic's 4 times before they opted for another drink. i had the fried oysters and green tomatoes. i received 4 oysters, that combined, were smaller than one from other restaurants in town. at the end of the second course the bill was brought out and we had to ask if they offered any desert. it was also a nice surprise that even though we had awful service we had a 20% gratuity added to our bill because of the number in our party. it was really a bad example and leaves a terrible taste in my mouth for the farmhouse. please be warned.

delicious!!!. we ate at the farmhouse last friday night. i had the 365 day aged steak (medium of course!) with a blue cheese butter, and my wife had the chicken and gravey. the steak was one of the top 5 i have ever eaten. it was moist and tender and the blue cheese butter really gave it a tasty bite. for dessert i had the rum cake, which was baked locally, and it was awesome as well. with everything being local and fresh, what's not to like about this restaurant? get over there and support this small local business, which helps support small local farms!!!

i guess customer service is no longer important to the farmhouse. we were greeted at the door by staff with a negativity and we felt like we were putting them out to find us a table. we didn't stay. i would not recommend this place to anyone.

fresh from the farm. we tried the farmhouse out for brunch this morning and it was magnificent! we went with a group of people and everyone tried something different. there were rave reviews all the way around! i started off with the spinach salad. awesome! fresh spinach with raspberries, blackberries, peaches and top it off with some fried goat cheese!! i was sold right there! for my main entree i had the eggs benedict, it did not let me down! the others had the steak and duck eggs, corned beef hash, and french toast ( also topped with berries and freshly whipped cream) i tasted them all and they were amazing! i can't wait to go back and try dinner sometime! highly recommended!

disappointing lunch. service was much better than some others got, but the corned beef was a greasy mess, the fries were cold and soggy, and the house-made ketchup was lousy (as it always is, just get heinz already!).

amazing and fresh food. everything was great here from the fresh salads and cheese plate to the perfectly cooked hanger steak with blue cheese butter and pickled accoutrements!!! the fresh strawberry pie was amazing, you could tell the berries were bought that morning from the city market next door.

everything was great and i couldn't have asked for more. i would love to have taken pictures but my dining companion kept scolding me :) would write more but i'm in a hurry and just wanted everyone to know it is an exceptional place much on par to many upscale eateries in other cities.

fresh & well prepared. we finally tried the farmhouse, and we were not disappointed. after exploring the area on the delaware wine walk it dinner. for appetizers, we started with chicken livers and a cheese plate. dinner was lamb chops and merguez sausage over spicy orzo, everything was fresh and well prepared. the service was attentive, but not hovering. we'll be back

first, i love the farmhouse atmosphere. although it was 72 degrees out, for some reason they didn't have the patio open. but when i've eaten on the patio, it has been a great treat in the middle of a long work day. i ordered the veggie burger today. it is a homemade burger, filled with white beans and green veggies with aioli and tomato relish on top. they also make their own ketchup! that is pretty much my favorite thing about the restaurant. my only wish is that they learned how to get their fries crispier. because the ketchup and fries could constitute their own meal if only the fries were better. they typically accompany entrees with a variety of homemade pickled vegetables, but today it was just standard cucumbers. still delicious though. lunch for six, which included two blt sandwiches, two veggie burgers, two orders of soup, one side salad, an

mixed emotions. we decided to celebrate our anniversary at the farmhouse. in general our experience was fine with a couple of caveats.

the gourmet cheese plate we shared as an appetizer was exceptional...a nice selection of cheeses and sauces and an ample supply of crispy crackers. my wife's salad and pumpkin and squash ravioli won her wholehearted recommendation. the fries that accompanied my hanger steak were outstanding...the steak itself was just o.k.

on the negative side the wine list of exclusively french blends and varietals lacked choices that appealed to our domestic tastes. their commitment to locally grown and raised ingredients seems a mismatch with french wines.

the service was friendly although the pace a little uneven. in general we left the restaurant happy and curious about other interesting items on the menu.

great corned beef on the farm. i stopped into the farmhouse the other day for lunch. after considerable internal debate i selected the corned beef sandwich. great choice. the housemade corned beef and cabbage on marble rye was terrific. i'm going back to try the pork sliders.
