my two cents. the atmosphere was great. the service was verygoodbut i thought the food was just okay. they had just introduced a new menu-i had trouble finding something i liked...i will give it one more try.

farmhouse. like the concept, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. first visit was on a friday for lunch, around 1:00, service was notgoodbut not bad enough to run me away. and while not thrilled with my selection decided it was worth another shot second visit was on a saturday morning for their brunch. onlygoodthing about the visit was the coffee. everything else was bad, bad, bad. service was poor enough that i will not go back. dirty coffee cup, food came long before the silverware, and getting the attention of the server was not happening. had the eggs benedict - sauce was bland, most of the flavor came from the "burnt" bread it was served on. the person i was with had the blet - surprise - it came without the egg. never did get a napkin, even though i requested one 3 times. hate to say it, because the concept is one that i enjoy, but will not be going back.

i came in here for lunch after a doctor's appointment next door. i sat at the bar and chatted with the bar manager, a couple of regulars, and ended up making some new friends! the pasta special was a smoked shortrib lasagna with fresh ricotta, and it was absolutely fantastic. on facebook, they had posted that the reward for finishing the special was a high-five, so i got agoodone! even better, their coffee comes with a french press and raw sugar. perfect for national coffee day! yay!

really liked this place. service was fun, informative, friendly and fast. food was also verygoodand decor is very cute. we will be back.

best dinner i've had in kansas city in four years. what else can i say? and i am a gastro-mixological snob. the private dining area is nice/quaint if you're feeling romantic/flush. margot makes agooddrink - try "the blood of the poet." it might make you...write. five stars from soup to nuts (literally).

get a description of the jumbalaya. the menu lists a costly jumbalaya with "chefs choice of seafood.". we inquired of the waitress and she said tonight it was shrimp. instead it was thatgoodold louisiana favorite--calamari. we didn't hate it but it wasn't what we thought we ordered.

not very good! walked in at 12:45 for lunch, hostess asked if we had a reservation, no we did not the restaurant was maybe 1/3 full with guests. so she sat us in the darkest hall area near the kitchen and bathroom. hmm. brussel sprout salad was like eating bullets. the bbq chicken sandwich was sparse with bacon and chicken they were nice enough to leave some bone and grissel on the chicken. the other entree was also mediocre. chefs if you can't makegoodcondiments, please buy them! catsup, mustard and bbq sauce all bland and tasteless yet rationed out like gold bouillon. my son loves this place, i guess we iust picked a bad monday to eat lunch here. sorry not returning.

 a few weeks ago we went to the farmhouse for the first time.  it's been on my list to try for a while now, i love the entire city market area and every time i drive by the farmhouse it reminds me that i haven't tried it!  if i was to give stars i would give it a 3 out of 5.  it wasgoodbut not outstanding and for the price i think i wished it would have been more outstanding.  my favorite thing that we ordered was the cheese plate.  we love cheese plates and if there is one offered on the menu, chances are we order it.  this cheese plate was pretty exceptional with local cheese from green dirt farm and accompaniments with each different cheese.  then we moved onto my salad and matt ordered the special kale soup, which he thought was pretty disgusting.  he kept eating it and said that as he neared the end it had grown on him, but i dont really think i want to pay money for something that has to grow on me as i shovel it down.  :)  our entrees were good- matt got the steak and i got sa

delicious!. wow! we were in town from minneapolis and went to this restaurant at the recommendation of a friend who lives in kc.

we were not disappointed. we love local, farm fresh food and chef driven menus so this place fit the bill.

everything we ate from the appetizer to dessert was amazing. we had the short ribs and flank steak for entrees and the beef was grass fed and perfectly cooked. the strawberry shortcake for dessert was a nice way to end the meal.

they have a lot of fun looking cocktails that we did not try and a prettygoodbeer list. we were kind of disappointed that there weren't more boulevard options. we can't find boulevard many places in minnesota so my husband was hoping to get agoodboulevard during dinner. i loved the lavender lemonade mocktail.

our server was nice but lacked in polished service and beer menu knowledge.

we loved the atmosphere and decor. it seemed very homey yet stylish.

we will definitely come back to see what is new on their menu when we are in the area again.

amazing!!!. had dinner here last friday, and i'm still savoring it all! excellent service, amazing food, great prices...this is hands down a top restaurant in kc...and i'm in the biz so i know agoodone when i see it.

i got the smoked pumpkin risotto and it was so dang tasty! brian and i could not stop raving about how tasty this meal was and how great it was. the risotto was cooked perfectly and the flavors were just sogoodtogether, i love sage and think its pairs perfectly with the pumpkin! i would go back to just eat this any day!

shockingly rude service. i went to brunch sunday with a friend. i have to admit, the food wasgoodand the grits were exceptional. however, the waitress was beyond ridiculous. she was nasty and irritable from the moment we were seated. i don't know if she thought she knew us, or what the problem was.

she literally just glared at us in anoyance and shifted her weight on her feet when she walked up. she rolled her eyes and sighed when i ordered hot tea.

when i asked her what kind of tea they offered, she sighed again like it was a ridiculous question and said, "i'll bring you some and you can choose." then, as i was going through the tea box, she grabbed it out of my hand and said, "you only get one!" and took away the box

my friend forgot to push down the plunger on her french press and the server dramatically pushed it down for her and then pushed it towards my friend and then shook her head.

she treated us with total contempt the entire meal. we had planned to stay and have some cocktails after brunch, but since the waitress made it so clear she didn't want our business, we left.

update-10/12 outstanding. went for brunch this past sunday-the place was packed. our server was running like a mad woman but in spite of that she couldn't have been any more accomodating. quite honestly, we probably made her a little crazy and she was still great. we took awhile to order, asked a bazillion questions, needed seperate checks and on and on finally one of my friends even had her eggs recooked and the server just rolled with it-you never would have thought we upset her the least. now, because the place was packed, it did take awhile, but we went to catch up with friends so we enjoyed visiting. when we got our food it was hot and so delicious! i have only had corned beef hash thatgoodone other place (cafe sebastion-but i had it another time and it wasn't thatgoodthere). all of us raved about our food and we each got something different. the only issue with the whole visit was all of our eggs were overcooked-only one of us sent them back. really, that is not agoodlaw of averages, there really isn't agoodexcuse for dining someplace like that for breakfast and receiving over cooked eggs. but, it didn't affect our time there or the fact that the food was delicious. take all of these things into consideration and then choose to dine here-our meal was heavenly.

follow food carpenters advice and try the french toast!. went on sat with my daughter who was in from denver and my grandaughter. my daughter, a chiropractor and nutritionist was once a chef. she loved her omlet. they whipped up a grilled cheese and home made chips for the little one which she devoured-though the sprite was very impressive as she never gets soda. as i said, i took the advice of food carpenter and ordered the french toast. i'm telling you, i wish he was always with me to choose because that was a perfect plate of french toast. had they not had real maple syrup i wouldn't have even used any because it was just that good!! (i could never pass up real maple syrup) the whole meal was very reasonably priced, the only drawback is that everything is al a carte which probably does keep their costs down with people only ordering what they want but the prices are so reasonable that al a carte doesn't bother me in this case. i'm anxious to go for dinner. why don't you try it?!

resturant was ok. food wasgoodbut very pricey. our waitress was pretty poor. could not answer simple questions about menu items.goodconcept poor execution.

we aren't hipster enough to appreciate this place. overpriced, opened late, wait staff not attentive. food wasgoodbut way too $$$. maybe i'd have appreciated it more if we'd smoked a joint before brunch. won't go back.
