just can't get it right.. how has thisplacestayed open? it is the worst. i tried it right after it opened and left saying not again. overpriced food at a tepid temp. and awful service. went this mother's day and absolutely the same thing. couldn't believe it. thought they must have figured it our since they were still open. terrible biscuits and they were running a special on biscuits and grave. biscuits were flat and hard and i mean flat. dish was cold. waitress warned one of our party about them but another person didn't hear. breakfast dish i ordered was cold and overcooked. grits were the only thing that was hot. mom's quiche was cold and small. first waiter was not seen again. finally got another waitress that was quite good. i will not support aplacethat had to know that there food was substandard and still pushed it out kitchen window.

a little underwhelming. the quality of the food was fantastic, being that it is super fresh. however, you cannot make a great dish just by having great ingredients. i had chicken fried steak and eggs and pumpkin pancakes and they were good, but i still needed to find salt and pepper to help it out. i'm thinking this is aplacebetter to have for dinner.

really neatplacefor a nice lunch when you don't wanna spend a whole lot. tried it while driving through town. excellent food, friendly service, and a very cute patio. loved it. have a smallish menu but anyone can find something to eat.

avoid at all cost. thisplaceis terrible i went there to try to get breakfast on 03/07/15 at 9:30 am. the bartender was extremely rude and kept going on about how the chef yells at her. i tried to order potatoes with breakfast and she started complaining that the chef would yell at her if i ordered those. the couple next to me asked if they could get scrambled eggs and she once again went off about how mean the chef was and how didn't allow any substitution ever for any reason. i ended up walking out hungry. if you are in the area avoid thisplacethere are too many reputable establishments in kansas city with great food to waste your time eating here.

service needs to improve. food was delicious. our server was rude in the fact that she made little eye contact with the guests at the table. let's put it this way, she made no eye contact with the females at the table. i recommended theplaceand if i am going to be treated like a second class citizen, then i am not going back.

excellent food. exceptional service.. i took the family and a couple of friends here for brunch on sunday morning. theplacehas an appealing rustic look that fits the building and neighborhood. first thing i liked was the prompt attentive service of the waiter. he really made us feel like valued guests. the second thing i liked is the coffee served in the french press.

the menu is fairly simple and the food is exceptional. i ordered poached eggs and when i got them the yolks were cooked hard. very disappointing. the waiter not only replaced them, but he took them off the check. not necessary, but very impressive. again, they want to make you important.

as we were walking to our car, the waiter came running down the street as one our friends left a cell phone on the table. how easy would it have been to assume we were long gone, and wait for us to retrieve it. but nope, they again go above and beyond.

with great food and great service, you can bet i'll be back!

delicious!. wow! we were in town from minneapolis and went to this restaurant at the recommendation of a friend who lives in kc.

we were not disappointed. we love local, farm fresh food and chef driven menus so thisplacefit the bill.

everything we ate from the appetizer to dessert was amazing. we had the short ribs and flank steak for entrees and the beef was grass fed and perfectly cooked. the strawberry shortcake for dessert was a nice way to end the meal.

they have a lot of fun looking cocktails that we did not try and a pretty good beer list. we were kind of disappointed that there weren't more boulevard options. we can't find boulevard many places in minnesota so my husband was hoping to get a good boulevard during dinner. i loved the lavender lemonade mocktail.

our server was nice but lacked in polished service and beer menu knowledge.

we loved the atmosphere and decor. it seemed very homey yet stylish.

we will definitely come back to see what is new on their menu when we are in the area again.

nope!. the wife, myself and another couple went here for dinner and drinks on a friday night. they seated us right on time for our reservation. from there the experience quickly went down hill. we waited a solid ten minutes for our waitress to acknowledge us and another ten before she showed back up with our waters. the drink order was placed and literally twenty-five minutes later they show up. we went ahead and ordered our second round right then. the average dinner showed up shortly after the salads hit the table so, we had to jockey our table for room. the hanger steak was somehow flavorless and the chicken breasts were dried out. the bright spot was the manager came over to apologize (unsolicited) and paid for our first round and a dessert which was actually delicious. thisplaceis average at best.

update-10/12 outstanding. went for brunch this past sunday-theplacewas packed. our server was running like a mad woman but in spite of that she couldn't have been any more accomodating. quite honestly, we probably made her a little crazy and she was still great. we took awhile to order, asked a bazillion questions, needed seperate checks and on and on finally one of my friends even had her eggs recooked and the server just rolled with it-you never would have thought we upset her the least. now, because theplacewas packed, it did take awhile, but we went to catch up with friends so we enjoyed visiting. when we got our food it was hot and so delicious! i have only had corned beef hash that good one otherplace(cafe sebastion-but i had it another time and it wasn't that good there). all of us raved about our food and we each got something different. the only issue with the whole visit was all of our eggs were overcooked-only one of us sent them back. really, that is not a good law of averages, there really isn't a good excuse for dining someplace like that for breakfast and receiving over cooked eggs. but, it didn't affect our time there or the fact that the food was delicious. take all of these things into consideration and then choose to dine here-our meal was heavenly.

follow food carpenters advice and try the french toast!. went on sat with my daughter who was in from denver and my grandaughter. my daughter, a chiropractor and nutritionist was once a chef. she loved her omlet. they whipped up a grilled cheese and home made chips for the little one which she devoured-though the sprite was very impressive as she never gets soda. as i said, i took the advice of food carpenter and ordered the french toast. i'm telling you, i wish he was always with me to choose because that was a perfect plate of french toast. had they not had real maple syrup i wouldn't have even used any because it was just that good!! (i could never pass up real maple syrup) the whole meal was very reasonably priced, the only drawback is that everything is al a carte which probably does keep their costs down with people only ordering what they want but the prices are so reasonable that al a carte doesn't bother me in this case. i'm anxious to go for dinner. why don't you try it?!

pleasantly impressed. despite the negative reviews, which are pretty negative, i went there with my wife. we arrived 20 minutes early with reservations and were promptly seated and greeted by our server.
we ordered the cheese plate as a starter and each of the 4 cheeses and topping (assorted candied fruits, etc..) was perfectly paired. my wife, not the cheese lover, was impressed...and ate most of it before i could.
dinner was the teres major (a cut like the tenderloin) and i had the chicken. i don't think i've ever had a better chicken anywhere and the steak was cooked perfectly. everything on the plates was delicious and paired perfectly with the meat.
the beer menu, also impressive, was wonderful. i had a paired beer with my dinner and it was great.
the last thing to hit our stomachs was the carrot cake. uhhh...fantastic. my wife and i had smiles the whole dinner... a seldom thing from the quality of food and preparation.

i'm not sure what happened with the people with the negative reviews, but thisplaceis one of the best places i've been to in a long time. we will definitely dine there again...

i guess customer service is no longer important to the farmhouse. we were greeted at the door by staff with a negativity and we felt like we were putting them out to find us a table. we didn't stay. i would not recommend thisplaceto anyone.

amazing and fresh food. everything was great here from the fresh salads and cheese plate to the perfectly cooked hanger steak with blue cheese butter and pickled accoutrements!!! the fresh strawberry pie was amazing, you could tell the berries were bought that morning from the city market next door.

everything was great and i couldn't have asked for more. i would love to have taken pictures but my dining companion kept scolding me :) would write more but i'm in a hurry and just wanted everyone to know it is an exceptionalplacemuch on par to many upscale eateries in other cities.

horrible food/service!!!. went here to eat w/ my mother yesterday, we read reviews, and really only negative comment was regarding this establishments ketchup. i we are not picky either. well, we walked in and waited to be seated about 4-5 minutes. only problem w/ that was there were only 3 other parties dining, and 4 waitresses and the manager standing at the bar looking at us for the whole time ?!? ... but they wouldn't seat us until they were ready ... strike 1. they give you water to drink when you first arrive, only other choices are pop/tea/wine ... we cannot drink either so had to stick w/ the water. the water was tepid! made our gag reflexes come alive ... not something i would recommend to a restaurant. we asked for glasses of ice, but were told we would have to purchase a drink ?!? the waitress told us the other water they had (is served in a wine bottle) was cooler ... it was, my maybe a degree ... still lukewarm ... ugh! we ordered the chicken sandwich, and the hanger steak, medium well. the menu states the steak is aged for 365 days, and we were excited to try it and the sandwich after reading good reviews about both. well, when the steak arrived it came in 2 pieces .. the first piece was bloody raw, the second was well, well done. we shared plates and figured okay, maybe well try the well to see how good it is, and just send back the very raw piece. the steak taste was awful! my mother is a steak lover, and she could barely swallow this! there was no taste aside from char and the parsley that was clumped on top of it .. very, very bland. tried the fries next ... they come out looking well done, but figured after all the reviews, it the fries had to be at least good ...right? wrong! the fries were lukewarm, and tasteless. they were too dry and cold for salt to adhere to them, so we were forced to use the ketchup. the ketchup is true to the reviews we read, bland, tasteless ... tastes like smashed tomatoes w/ nothing else mixed in. we added salt and pepper ... but still wasn't able to choke this stuff down. so can't eat the fries alone, because they are too bad, and the ketchup is awful. the chicken sandwich came out, and looked and smelled good. after the first bite however, we could taste that the chicken was very moist and stringy ... it wasn't done .. nothing worse than almost raw chicken ... yuck!. the only thing that was edible on the sandwich b/c of the chicken was the bacon, which was good. safe to say, the only good thing to eat on our plates were the garnishes of pickled eggplant and squash .. it had a strong vinegar taste, but was good.

we rarely go out to eat anywhere special, and we were excited to try thisplace.. but it is safe to say, we will never, ever go back here. we had 2 waitresses serve us ... they both were not very friendly. after the water incident (my mother and i were very nice/polite) and how they acted, we decided it would be best not to send the steak back, and just eat the well done portion ... didn't want spit in our food. we did wear jeans and t-shirts ... felt a little out ofplacesince the other 3 parties were business lunches ... maybe this is why they treated us different.
it is your choice whether you want to try thisplace... but again, we will never frequent this establishment again.

my favorite lunch spot.... love it! i take everyone here and they never let me down. hands down the best, sophisticated, reasonably priced lunch spot in the entire metro area. frankly, after living in eight major cities i have never enjoyed aplaceso much for lunch while not breaking the bank. keep it up. order the malbec and the cheese plate. the goat cheese salad is to die for, and the polenta is first-rate. enjoy!
