always a great time at the dog's bollocks. friendly and efficient service. interesting setting which has transformed over the years. the beer is made in collaboration with triggerfish breweries and is similar to a fruity ale. i was a bit disappointed with my burger, banana and bacon was a bit bland and not what the burgers usually are. so i suggest going for one of the other ones which are awesome.

for what the place is, it's absolutely brilliant!

counter service in a garage type space, that's super efficient, with friendly staff and delicious food. the selection on offer is fantastic and i waited almost no time at all for my order.

a truly, must try if you're in cape town.

food: 4,5- there's a wide selection of burgers, i devoured a "3b"- bacon, barbecue and cheese (maybe the "2b1c" would be more apt?) the beef patties are deliciously juicy, buns pillowy soft and the crispy, fluffy chips are a welcome addition! it's a glorious mess so make sure to pick up some serviettes when you go up to collect your sumptuous repast.
wine: 2- a choice between red or white and neither option is particularly enjoyable if you're an oenophile!
ambience: 4- super relaxed and fun
setting: 4- garage/ junkyard turned restaurant.
service: what service? write your order on the wall and wait to be yelled at by one of the hot burger chicks to place your order. love it!

notes:
a mate of mine had the "old skool" burger which was under seasoned and a bit dry.

chicken wings prepared in a choice of marinades as well as a generous plate of cheesy nachos are other options on their wall menu.
they have a bacon and banana burger which i will have to return for!

i recently ate at the dog's bollocks, and recommend it to others for both the food and the fun vibe. as a vegetarian, i don't often find myself recommending burger restaurants, and especially not burger-only restaurants. but the veggie burger absolutely did not disappoint, and i was thrilled to see that by changing my combination of bread, yummy home-made sauces, and condiments (the db's has a wide range of them all), my veggie burger can take on many different avatars (which will be fun to try out, since i moved down the road and definitely want some variety in my veggie burgers)!
be warned that when you order wine, there's no such thing here as a glass of wine. you'll get a bottle of their house wine, which was so-so but i was all too happy to take it back with me (since i couldn't finish it right there).
oh and yes, the burgers are ginormous. #yolo :-)

best burgers in town! such an amazing vibe there. the music plays there. then you can't be lazy so you do what you want. you can write on the walls as much as you want. all burgers the same price . you can take your own drinks. best you get there quick before the tables run out. they only make 60 burgers a night so best you get there fast! hope you get the same experience i did!

wow! first try last night and had such a good time. it all feels kinda whacky but that's part of the vibe. the drinks were nothing to write home about - neither wine nor beer receiving good reviews. but the burgers made up for it. absolutely loved the mushroom burger with sautéed mushrooms along with a garlic pepper sauce. i added some caramelised onions to it and enjoyed every mouthwatering, messy bite!
super cool place offering a fun eating experience.

i feel as though i discovered the dogs bollocks fairly early on and since then it has sky rocketed in popularity. don't kid yourself, this place is ridiculous. the portions are ridiculously huge (the size of my head, we measured), the location is very random and the owner is very much one-of-a-kind. with that being said, it's a must-try. very rustic but just such a great vibe.

remember to bring cash!

an absolute gem of a 'restaurant'. the idea is to grab some mates, get to the dogs bollocks as close to 5pm as possible (as only 60 or so burgers are made a night) and order your preferred burger and chill. you used to be able to bring your own booze, but last time i went, wine wasn't allowed in and you had to buy that there which was quite pricey. the boys could, however, drink their own beer/ciders. otherwise, the burgers are huge and absolutely delicious, with a variety of different toppings (some quite out of the ordinary), the vibe is great , very chilled out and enjoyable and the company depends on you!

awesome deal - huge and worth the money but a bit of an unconventional system, haha ;)

this is an interesting place, a empty garage really where you write your order on a blackboard - but only if they are still making their self imposed 50 burgers a night.
the burgers are huge and seem to come with a massive salad on top - we had to ask for a knife to cut it in half... there seems to be a technique to eat those monsters (use your pinkies apparently)
do not try the house wine.

great for a once off - but get there early.

you have to go to the dog's bollocks at least once in your life as it is a unique experience: it is a make-shift "restaurant" in a driveway between two buildings. tables and décor look like junk shop left overs. you write your name and the size of your group on a blackboard and when your name is called out you go up to the grilling and assembly station and place your order. they make burgers only. and only 50 per night. and you can't make a reservation. they open at 5pm and close when the last burger is consumed. it took us one or two attempts to get in. i had the jalapeno cheese burger, and philip had the plain old burger. there is also a very interesting sounding mexican chocolate mole burger... while you wait you can sample some of their own brewed beer and purchase wine in a tube. when your name is called, you collect your burger wrapped in newsprint. no chips, no cutlery, which i can deal with, but no serviettes? the burgers are enormous and each contain a whole head of lettuce! they are good. best in cape town? nah. i also found the old white wire garden furniture to sit on quite cold and uncomfortable, specially on a night with the cape doctor swooping down the mountain. but i really enjoyed the bluegrass music.
