the dark roast

i have searched long and hard for good coffee in his city and have drawn a blank almost everywhere. i visited the dark roast hoping my search would end right here but i guess that would need a couple of more visits and a lot more coffees for that!

situated in prahlad nagar, you can spot this one next to a few home decor stores. it has two floors but they had a private event on the first floor so only the lower floor was available to walk ins. lovely interiors. sort of took me back to my favourite little cafes in mumbai and bangalore.

i walked in early evening when it was still empty and managed to find a table for myself. i set up my workstation and browsed through their wide selection of hot and cold beverages.

i started with the tdr special which was a cold coffee with a caramel, crushed coffee beans and lots of whipped cream. the drink was a pleasure for my eyes but very average for my tastebuds. the crushed coffee beans added no flavour but made the texture of the drink less appealing for me.

i also ordered a falafel sandwich and it was quite tasty. the bread was generously buttered and grilled to perfection.

the service was prompt but the personnel needs a little more training.

very bad coffee experience. the only good thing about this place were the games and the ambience. i've had bitter coffees and i enjoy them, but this was something very bad

to begin with, the ambience is quite decent but the cafe is not quite extravagant in terms of size and seating arrangments. if you are planning for a getogether for over 8-10 people you might have to think twice or as a precaution it would take you a couple of calls to be rest assured that you wont have to wait once you reach there.
however the fooding experience is quite flamboyant. we order bbq panner sandwhich and arrabiata pasta and none of these disappointed us. the sandwiches were crisp and were supplimented with i guess red tartar condiment.the pasta however could have been less spicy, but it was perfectly garnished with olives, capsicum and broccoli.
overall coming here was worthwhile.

what a café!!!! really cool sitting arrangements. amazing coffee. ordered irish coffee and mocha and cheese garlic bread. coffee was awesome! cheese garlic bread not so amazing as expected as the menu said. the music was missing.. but overall a wonderful experience. the menu is really cool. a little slow service but it was a sunday so i understand how busy it can be.. totally awesome experience..

over the last few months, i've become a regular here at tdr. here are the top few reasons (of many):

1) they probably have one of the best curated music lists i've ever heard at a cafe in ahmedabad. beatles, electric light orchestra, snarky puppy, led zep etc.etc. so good!

2) brilliant coffee! i mean, fantastic.

3) they're super chill. you can come in and be creative, work or anything else. the owners love to have you, as long as you're respectful of course.

4) did i say they had awesome coffee?

this cafe has been a regular for me. their lattes are super good and the paneer sandwiches are flavorful.

one of the best cafes in ahmedabad that serves some amazing coffee, this place is a haven for coffee lovers out there. apart from coffee, they also offer delicious pizzas, pasta, falafel and more. a nice place to hang out with friends over the weekend, there is good music, great food and fun games to enjoy here.
must try: coffee, pasta, hot chocolate, basil 🍕

the packaging was a mess; the taste on other hand was okay-okay and hence 3 stars ! but i won’t repeat the order again

the salad pizza which is so called chefs special.. is horrible.. tasted like shit.

the best coffee place. you can have a quick coffee if you want and also stay for hours to hangout with friends. if here definitely try it's snacks with the coffee

if genuine coffee is something that you are looking forward to, this is the only place in the city! this comes after having tried almost all top shot places in the town and a failed attempt to get anything above the authentic taste and texture of coffee that they serve. it has been almost 4 years and this place has never disappointed me in terms of consistency of quality. hygiene is a ++ at this place. to sum it all up, there is no better place than this if you are looking forward to your perfect cup of coffee with perfect ambience and hygiene!! don’t forget to try their malabar french press and barrel aged cold brew - my personal favourites!
