fresh and delicious. it was a good thing we made reservations as i didn't realize that there were two games being played both baseball and basketball. the arrogant butcher is located kitty-corner across from the basketball (us airways) arena on the ne corner of e jefferson and s 1st st.
they have a large outdoor patio, greatatmosphere both inside and out, and the staff was very friendly, courteous and helpful, even when i had to call because after parking i was completely lost!
the drinks came quickly, the appetizers even sooner for it being quite busy on a wednesday night. the potato fritters were the lightest puffiest that i've ever had. seasoned with bacon and finely grated cheddar and served with a perfectly seasoned truffle creme fraiche. the soft pretzels salted with fleur de sel had me at the first bite, even before i dipped them into the vivaciously silky provolone fondue that gave up just the barest hint of smokiness.
dinner was fantastic, i had the rock shrimp, andouille, and chicken jambalaya which came on the dry side and not in a bad way, i'm just saying not a lot of broth and to be honest i didn't miss it at all. the okra was cooked to perfection, still lightly toothsome and green.
my husband had the skirt steak with fingerling potatoes and green beans and it came out with wonderful smokey grill flavor, the beans and potatoes both done perfectly and served over a vegetable medley au jus.
desert comes in small glass jars and thank god because i'm quite full at this point but they have a creme caramel pudding that i have to try, and oh yes am glad i did. it was smooth, silky, and utter perfection. golden caramel flavor with the lush delivery of the custard.
also for tasting was the blueberry cheesecake which was almost a pudding cheesecake in the jar topped with a fresh blueberry topping crumble. nice fresh flavor and smoothness but die hard ny cheesecake fans will likely not be happy.
overall very happy we went and will be happy to return. it was nice to dine out in the city.
