arrogant is correct. we were sat outside on a 55 degree evening even though there was plenty of indoor seating and we had a reservation for 9. we were assured outdoor seating was very comfortable however the heater above our table was connected but according to the manager was not functioning properly. food was ok but very overpriced, nothing exciting. we will definitely not be returning here and will ensure our friends and family do not as well.

well after waiting for 25 minutes for a waiter out food only took 10 mins to arrive at the table and there was a reason it came so quickly .... it was nothing special! first off we ordered a bottle of white wine, the waiter brought us te bottle but no chill bucket ... we had to ask for it. the food was average at best. should i ever return to phoenix, i would not return to this place! went to sam's cafe last night and that was awesome .... for the spend, way better .... go there!

well we have sat here for 20 minutes this far and still no waiter has approached our table! just asked the hostess if we even have one! will have to wait to see if the food was worth the poor, poor service!

the arrogant butcher. we went for restaurant week, when we expected the restaurant would offer a sample of its best food to attract repeat business. it was the worst meal i have had this year. the soup, which might have been good if served hot or even seriously warm, was lukewarm with a skin on top; by the time i reached the bottom of the bowl, it was stone cold. the jambalaya, which is normally a spicy stew, was served as a glutinous paella-like dish that was almost inedible. dessert was bland. with one shared glass of wine in addition to the drink that came with the meal, our bill (incl. tip) was $90. we won't go back.

excellent!. came to the arrogant butcher for arizona restaurant week 2011. had a very difficult time finding the place. so much construction and traffic in downtown phoenix.

very cute ambiance. friendly server and manager who kept checking up on us.

food was divine! ordered the tabbouleh salad, smoked salmon rillette, jambalaya, grilled swordfish, sweet potato tortelli, salted caramel sundae and blueberry cheesecake. everything was delicious. our whole table couldn't stop raving about each dish.

i don't know where all these bad reviews are coming from? i had an amazing time and enjoyed every minute.

went for lunch while on vacation w/ a 5yo. much nicer than we had expected (lunch reservations!?), but staff was excellent and food was some of the best of our trip. our 5yo was even satisfied. lunch was about $9-18 per entree or sandwich. however portions were a good size. cole slaw, turkey sloppy joe, chicken club, burger and chips and dip were all delicious!

arrogant pricing. been here twice for lunch and the food is really good, the atmosphere is nice, the service is ok could be better but they just opened so i cut them some slack. the portions are very small and it very expensive for a downtown eatery. they are going to have a tough time competing for the lunch business when there are other places around with lower price points and great special like half off lunch entrees. its going to be interesting to see how long they can last in a downtown well known to be an undesirable dining destination, unless there is a game or something going on.

where's the beef?. with a name like the arrogant butcher, you would expect a quanity of beef or other meats on the menu. not so! the menu is heavy on seafood and other non-meat dishes. the place should be called the arrogant fisherman!
all of the food was arrogantly highly over priced.
fish & chips $17.00??? the from the freezer fish was mushy, the fries average and the thimblefull of coleslaw was just ok. arthur treacher's has them beat by a mile for much less. the wife's burger, ($9.00) was ok and the made from scratch potato chips were soggy.
$5.50 for a bud light??? i think notorously high priced chase field across the street sells it for less. the place is noisy & loud and the ceiling full of ductwork and wiring is just beautiful! won't be going back. too many other good options downtown.

fresh and delicious. it was a good thing we made reservations as i didn't realize that there were two games being played both baseball and basketball. the arrogant butcher is located kitty-corner across from the basketball (us airways) arena on the ne corner of e jefferson and s 1st st.
they have a large outdoor patio, great atmosphere both inside and out, and the staff was very friendly, courteous and helpful, even when i had to call because after parking i was completely lost!
the drinks came quickly, the appetizers even sooner for it being quite busy on a wednesday night. the potato fritters were the lightest puffiest that i've ever had. seasoned with bacon and finely grated cheddar and served with a perfectly seasoned truffle creme fraiche. the soft pretzels salted with fleur de sel had me at the first bite, even before i dipped them into the vivaciously silky provolone fondue that gave up just the barest hint of smokiness.

dinner was fantastic, i had the rock shrimp, andouille, and chicken jambalaya which came on the dry side and not in a bad way, i'm just saying not a lot of broth and to be honest i didn't miss it at all. the okra was cooked to perfection, still lightly toothsome and green.
my husband had the skirt steak with fingerling potatoes and green beans and it came out with wonderful smokey grill flavor, the beans and potatoes both done perfectly and served over a vegetable medley au jus.

desert comes in small glass jars and thank god because i'm quite full at this point but they have a creme caramel pudding that i have to try, and oh yes am glad i did. it was smooth, silky, and utter perfection. golden caramel flavor with the lush delivery of the custard.
also for tasting was the blueberry cheesecake which was almost a pudding cheesecake in the jar topped with a fresh blueberry topping crumble. nice fresh flavor and smoothness but die hard ny cheesecake fans will likely not be happy.

overall very happy we went and will be happy to return. it was nice to dine out in the city.

would expect a better cut of meat for the bone in ribeye. not marbled just half fat. appearance masked the bad cut. it was swimming in sweet sauce that a ribeye should not touch.

sam fox has a right to be arrogant. food was amazing!!! the menu isn't huge, but it is all delicious. started off with a maid in mexico cocktail and sea salt chips w/ onion dip, and had the scallops for my entree. soooo good! unfortunately i was too full to have dessert.
service was as good as the food. they substituted spinach for brussels sprouts in the sweet potato tortelli - the only vegetarian dish here - and my friend loved it.
i will definitely come back.
