noisy but good. nice ambiance in an old bank building. food was very good, excellent and attentive service, but the noise in the restaurant prevents a civil conversation. between two groups of women celebrating birthdays, our conversation was difficult. and it is almost impossible to fight through the crowd at the bar to get a drink, which you have to do because otherwise you have to wait 40" for a table. really, no reservations? who has this kind of time anymore?

restaurants aren't your personal kitchens, people. my business partner and i have had many meals at terroni adelaide and have always been happy with them, and considering some of the reviews here, i can see one of the main reasons why: when we enter a restaurant, we don't consider ourselves kings of the castle. i don't understand why anyone would want to micromanage their food in someone else's place. what the restaurant is offering is on the menu, and they are not obliged at all to bow to your every whim. nowhere i eat would i dream of asking to change the ingredients of a dish or whining about a few stupid drops of balsamic vinegar. grow up!

terrible organization at this location. i dont know who actually manages this location but they should be fired, room was half empty but it took 20 minutes for us to be seated,it took 15 minutes for the order to be made and the server only made the customary "how is everything" comment once.we as a group of 6 ordered alot of food but the rush of the server to clear the table was insane,it wasnt busy and the food at that time was good so as group we try to take our time and enjoy it.the queen street location is a bit better but really that pizza is good not great and i think the owners are trying to expand too fast and the quality is going south just as fast.

midtown is great... adelaide... not so much. pretencious is the best word to describe waitstaff; especially the barstaff. if those guys were choclate, they would eat themselves. asked for a gin and tonic; they don't have tonic!?! offered some italian orange soda in place of tonic. wtf. orange inplace of tonic? lemon soda i could understand, but orange??? food was soooooo much better at uptown location. this was at best with dr. ochare frozen jobbies. real miss for such a great legacy... want really good authentic italian pizza... try avenue cafe in klienburg; worth the drive.

shtick getting old. rule #1 of service: customer is king
rule #1 of terroni: customer should shut up.
rule #1 of me; since their waitresses are so ugly i will have no reason to come back.

amazing thin-crust pizza. had lunch here a month back, and the thin-crust pizza was terrific! had to wait about 20 minutes for a table, but this was on a friday, so the place was busy. service was good, and i will definitely come back for dinner some time.

good 'nuff 4 us.... went here before the david gray concert tonight, and was a great spot to meet with a couple friends.

busy, but with a reservation no waiting. some other reviews said the place was too loud, and i could see that happening maybe, but we had a nice booth on the far wall, and noise was not a factor. service attentive without being distracting. i had a couple of pints, but friends had a vegetarian penne and a salad with arugula, and also what i would dub a charcuterie plate and all were satisfied.

to be honest, i like the ambiance of the queen west locale better, but i'll give this one another shot - and even eat next time.

cheerio!

very sorry. this is a very sorry place. it is so busy that they have line ups. the problem? boring decor, mediocre waitresses in granny clothes and they refuse to cater to you. they know what you should eat. the food showed they were wrong.

i don't see what the big deal is. after living in toronto for numerous years and hearing how fantastic terroni's is, i finally went there a few months ago (twice). both times i didn't really enjoy it, and the only reason i went back is because i literally live right across the street and am a very lazy person.

first, there are some positive things about this place. the building itself is beautiful and the servers are all very attractive. this place is always packed - which could be a good thing if you're into that (personally i'm not) and they have a few sets of communal dining tables (long tables were you sit beside other people). i could see how this could be a fun experience, however it does not appeal to me in the slightest.

for me, my biggest complaint was that because the place was so busy and the tables so close together, i had difficulty talking and kept getting distracted by other tables.

i must admit, that the food is pretty good, however i feel it is over priced for what you get. the first time i went i had pizza, which was unremarkable, but the second time i had a lamb pasta dish which was actually really great.

also, i didn't find the service particularily great. i asked our server to recommend a bottle of wine and was very disappointed with what she picked - it didn't seem to go with what we ordered at all, and again, seemed way overpriced.

all in all, i wouldn't go back to terroni's. however, i feel like this is understandable since i am not the demographic that terroni's appeals to. also, this place doesn't take reservations, which is frustrating.

dsiappointing food, bad attitude. had the most bizarre experience at terroni's adelaide, and certainly will not be going there again. my girlfriend ordered a pasta with shrimp, which she found a little bland so she asked for some parmesan, and was told flatly no by the waitress, we don't serve it with seafood. we were both dumbstruck. i then asked the waitress if i could have some for my (meat based) dish and some pepper, so she went and got some. when she served my parmesan, i asked nicely again to just put some on my girlfriends because she wanted some - she said no again. we then asked for a manager - he came, and after we again asked nicely - he said no...we just don't serve it with that pasta. i asked why they would not just serve a customer what they have asked for (after all it is just cheese) and his answer was dumbfounding....he said 'let me take your food away, and i can bring you the menu and you can choose a dish that we do serve with parmesan'. we sent back the food (which was by this time cold anyway) and left. bizarre in this day and age that any self respecting restaurant can say no to a customer for some cheese.
have since read a number of reviews that call out their bad attitude, and even heard them described as the nazis of food, which is a bit strong. but hardly a way to keep customers coming back i think.

bizarre behaviour and unlikely to bring customers back....

more than pizza. although terroni's pizza is fab, i enjoyed a pizzaless meal the other night which was terrific. the mezzo mezzo platter was a great starter for our table, a good balance of cheese, meats and breads. the honey for the cheese/bread was a nice up lift. then onto two porcini buns with olives, bread still warm pork good, took one home and it was great the next day. i finally ended with the duck ravioli which was buttery and light (as light as duck can be i suppose).

fantastic but loud. this restaurant is fantastic. the ambiance is wonderful, the menu is very well put together. the only draw back is that it is loud. the building is an old courthouse with very high, vaulted ceilings...so echos abound. otherwise, i would recommend this place.

terroni in the old courthouse is like a barn. i have been a big fan of terroni. i first went to the branch on victoria street and enjoyed the food, the friendly service, and the casual atmosphere. (i also learned to never arrive there at noon!) i liked the branch on queen street west so much that our family celebrated our (informal) annual wedding anniversary there.

thus, i was disappointed at terroni on adelaide street. it's just too big. the space has been partitioned into multiple rooms, but the place where we had a business lunch was still too big. it was noisy, so i had problems having a business discussion with the person across from me.

the food was fine. the service was efficient. i've probably been spoiled by other terroni locations setting my expectations in a different way. atmosphere is hard to scale up. i wouldn't refuse to return to this restaurant, but i might steer friends to go to one of the smaller locations for a more enjoyable experience.
