beautiful atmosphere and crazy loud music. thisplaceis very hip but not a goodplacefor a conversation. my burger, bloody mary and smore's were all average. if you live close by this is probably a great place. i went way out of my way for sunday brunch., it's just okay.. ago back if i were in the area but i would not make a special trip.

i decided to try brunch at tavern, the m street outpost that replaced the ill-fated miami inspired joint lime. i was hesitant to venture back in this building, as lime was one of the first places i went when i moved to nashville and it left a bad taste in my mouth. i went to have some post-class cocktails with friends and what i got was a middle aged meat-market. i wasn't looking for a sugar daddy and the calamari was dry, so lime was off my list. i was actually happy when it closed. but tavern surprised me, having a dark bar-like charm and none of the creepier lime clientele. i had been here for drinks before, back when steve was still djing their friday dance nights and i enjoyed myself. i've been eyeing the brunch menu for months, and with my parents in town for a visit this seemed like the perfect time to try it. this menu makes me wish i was a cow with four stomachs. everything sounds delicious to me and i wished that i had more than oneplaceto put it. red velvet waffle?

great place. when tavern first opened, i honestly tried not to like it. i had low expectations before i dined here my first time and thought that it was going to be another trendy, over-priced, mediocre dining experience. i was wrong. i've been for dinner, lunch, and multiple times for brunch (this is one my favorite brunch spots...i'll elaborate more in this in a minute). the sweet potato chips with the warm blue cheese fondue is an awesome app. i've heard the "chicken skins" are awesome too, but i can't bring myself to try those. the nachos are huge and enough to share with a table of ten. the junk salad is my absolute favorite salad in nashville. it has everything that i love in it: crispy lettuce, shrimp, pepperoncinis, tomato, cucumber, etc. my husband loves the burger and i am so interested in the chicken and waffles, which again i can't bring myself to order. all of the tacos are ahhhmazing and fresh. but, my favorite part about tavern is their brunch on saturday and sunday. i love going here in the summer for brunch, but especially in the winter too. 2 for 1 brunch liberations=great deal+great drinks. where to start with the brunch menu-my favorites are: benedict dos (with smoked salmon), huevos rancheros, and the singapore stir fry (which is again, my husband's favorite). also, if you need a side to choose, do not skip the white trash hash...you'll love it.

greatplaceto be with friends. i love bringing my out of town guests here on early saturday afternoons to have a great brunch and start to the weekend!

rude much?. yes, rude hostess! great food! it's too bad that one comment can completely change the way we feel about a place. when we arrived it was busy and we were told it would be a 40 minute wait for a table. no problem, we got a seat at the bar and had a fine time waiting. after 45 minutes my husband went to check on the table and the hostess said it would be another 30 minutes. my husband said that was unacceptable to which she replied " well, you can go somewhere else. this is a very popular place." really?! no matter how busy you are, you never have the right to speak to guests that way. it's too bad because we really liked it otherwise. i can't financially support aplacethat apparently doesn't need my business.

tavern-prices outrageous. i eat out regularly and have actually had dinner twice and lunch once and the prices for the amount of food and drink are beyond reason. one of the reasons lime could not make it was the small portions for the high prices and tavern is following in the same pattern, and virago (owned by chris hyndman as well) is in the same situation. the lunch fish tacos were even admittedly small and over priced by the waitress...i thought they were appetizers. the $12 veggie plate should easily be in the $6-$8 range for the small portion. i don't want cheescake factory portions of food, but don't want to pay double for the amount of food either. thisplacewill self destruct as you leave feeling taken and that does not work long term.

great hang. the owners of whiskey kitchen did it again. awesome food. awesomeplaceto hang. definitely makes you want to stay a while. if it's too busy inside, don't refuse a seat on the patio. we ate there, and i liked it better than the inside.

the tavern burger. definitely one of the better burgers i've had in town. add ons like bacon and blue cheese are well worth the extra buck. delicious!
