taste of india

this restaurant was vegetarian friendly in an area where most decent places seem to be closed on sunday. the flavor of the paneer dishes we had was much lighter and less creamy than we are used to and the atmosphere was under par but the chutneys were magnificent!

very good food - very poor serviceb dudes g. i have not eaten indian food elsewhere so i am not munin i’mr no able to comparet to others or judge authenticity. what i hurtt do know is that the flavors are dnn min great and the quality of ingredients is easy to pick up on. this is not processed or microwaved food. the buffet allows you to try many dishes to find the ones you like.

good food. the food is good, i've had better indian food elsewhere, but it is the only indian restaurant in pensacola. my major complaint is the waitstaff speak little english and it is difficult to get across to them what you want. also, we always run out of drink and it takes them forever to refill our glasses, which can be bad with spicy indian food.

under new management and it shows! food is ok but not nearly as delicious as it was under the old management. truly a sad day losing your favorite restaurant. pensacola is surely missing a good one!

they should have an "i love it" option for places like taste of india! my girlfriend and i love the attentive service and the delicious food. i've had indian in many us cities and who would have thought that pensacola's taste of india could trump them all.

the real thing. we tend to be cynical about indian restaurants because we have lived so long in the middle east and have eaten a lot of the real thing. we hate dumbed-down indian food.

the taste of india is not dumbed down. it is the real thing. we avoid buffets, but we even love the lunch buffet at the taste of india, and we love seeing all the foreign students who gravitate there for a taste of home.

we like the freshness. we like the options for heat in our indian food. we like the many vegetarian options. we like that there is always a good crowd, and that we think this restaurant has a good chance for making it in a competitive field, because we want to keep eating there!

update - the restaurant has changed hands at least once, and i am not so sure it is the same quality now as before.

22sep2011 - restaurant has changed management again, and the food is back to tasty! yayyyyy! yayyyyy! welcome back, taste of india!

great food. if you are looking for an authentic indian restaurant, then this the right one. perhaps, the only one in the area covering pensacola, destin, fwb, and navarre.

great find!. the palak paneer was excellent. tandoori chicken was tender and tasty. raita,naan, and paratha were good. the rice was delicious. the waiter was very patient and helpful. he explained everything we had questions about and steered us toward a nice desert(gulab jamun) we wouldnt have tried otherwise. i think we were the only ones at the restaurant at 8pm on thursday. the prices are very reasonable. our bill was only $42 for 2 beers, 2 orders of bread, 1 raita, 2 main dishes, and a shared desert. we had enough left over for another meal for both of us. i cant wait to return for the lunch buffet so i can try more dishes! they have a nice vegetarian selection.

*only one negative to share. the shrimp in the tandoori mix smelled foul and we did not eat it, i think it might have gone bad. i would steer clear of the shrimp just to be on the safe side.

wonderful food. my boyfriend and i enjoy the taste of india. the food, the atmosphere and the friendly service. valentine's evening we decided to try the one on hwy 98. still wonderful food but, the service was horrible. our waitress forgot us. waited along time for our main entree, no refills on our tea, appetitizer served last. she was so busy with the other tables its like she forgot we were there. i understand new places take a while to work out the kinks and i'm sure this will happen. this one incident will not keep us from going back. good luck with the new place.

wonderful food and service. this is our favorite 'special occasion' restaurant! food is always great!! and the service has always been just fine! we tend to get there between 5-6 so we've never been disappointed with the service. perhaps they get much busier later in the evenng. but the staff has always been very accommodating and takes an interest in pleasing their customers.
if the place was in our neighborhood, we would probably eat there once a week! prices are very reasonable and portions are plenty.... we always have food to take home.

finally, food diversity in perdido!. went on the weekend for the lunch buffet just to give things a try. everything was yummy. can't wait to try to regular menu. chicken and veggie dishes were the main staple and they were all very good. the vindaloo was nice and spicy. the mango ice cream is addictive. mint chutney was delicious! i am sure i will be going back and bringing some friends.

the food was super yummy. however the service was horriable. if the food wasn't so awesome i wouldn't come back but the food absolutely kicks it out of the park.

recently changed location. new staff. very americanized but still the same great food from the old location. turns into a dance bar in the evenings and weekends. chef is amazing and comes out personally to recommend the specials. ibyou like indian give it a shot.

very good lentil soup, shrimp and chicken dishes were great! quick and responsive service. even get indian mtv to watch. no complaints...order the hot.

great food and great service. it all depends who your server is. the girl who was our real server was okay but the guy helping her out is why i'm going back. made lots of suggestions and didn't hesitate to bring things without asking. food is good!
