have been to taku's many a time and only just realised i've never reviewed. maybe there's a part of me that doesn't want to share such a gem of a place.
yes it's tiny - probably seats only 25 and that would be really crowded. the décor is plain but it's not squalid or dirty. they have updated and now accept eftpos.
but oh my the food...
freshly made, cooked to order and quality. generous servings for reasonable prices. bento and set meals with the balance of flavour and presentation you expect of japanese cuisine. great sashimi sensitively cut and simply presented. champagne quality on a beer budget.
i cannot even recommend a particular dish - everything i've tried there is a favourite.
and i'm going there again on friday!!!!

my fav restaurant. although its a small place, the food is delicious and extremely fast service. often in and out of the restaurant in 40mins. its byo and prices are cheap. i go there every week.

very fresh and delicious. authentic japanese style food. very friendly staff. please note, they are cash only and there aren't any atms close by. just come prepared; it's worth it.

yum yum. we ordered the sashimi dinner set, deluxe set b with chicken, deluxe set c with beef, and curry udon.

portions were generous, and great genuine japanese food!

all the fish was fresh, and will definitely be coming back for more!

love the cosy atmosphere of the restaurant, and the service was very friendly and easy going.

little gem. we had 8 people for lunch and the service and wait times were fantastic, everyone enjoyed their meal. i had never been here and it will be my go to japanese from now on.

takeaway dishes were ready in minutes. even in takeaway boxes - beautiful presentation. tasted sensational, love the beef tataki.

good for a bite to eat at lunch, can recommend going for the set menus as they're great value for money.  service is good and the restaurant is in a good location with plenty of parking available.

food was mediocre. tempura batter was too dense and oily. the restaurant environment was rather stuffy and had poor ventilation. i notice they get many of their orders through takeaways. that might be the way to go instead of a dine-in.

my go-to place for authentic japanese food. i always order the same - assorted sashimi set and agedashi tofu. i've never been disappointed. the food and value are awesome. i would go there every day if i could!!

love this place. food is always good. i think their miso is the best i've had.
i like the chicken katsu and dig on while it's piping hot so never have time to take photo 😝

ordered agedeshi tofu, beef tataki, deep fried squid and spicy prawn for entree. they were all pretty delicious except for agedeshi tofu which i have had better ones. also ordered the deluxe set which has tempura, chicken karaage, sushi, sashimi and teriyaki beef. reasonably priced.

amazing food, amazing service!
my partner and i always visit with our 9month old and will be in and out within the hour every time! definitely a fave this place! can't fault the place!

dropped in for saturday lunch with kids x 4. sushi was rated by the kids.... i had chicken katsu bowl and wife had teriyaki chicken and rice.. nip complaints.. fresh good japanese at a reasonable cost

first time trying out this place, thanks to the reviews 😊 need i say, it was absolutely delicious! loved the japanese dumplings (forget the japanese name) loved my meal i got which was chicken teriyaki on rice with salad. thanks for that taku japanese kitchen 👍🏼👍🏼 we sure will be back again!
