interesting. this place does southern cooking with a twist. the twist is it's different from most southern cooking because it mixes upscale presentations with southern dishes and uses more than just fat and salt for seasoning. i ordered a porch chop plate which included an order of lemon turnip greens which were very tasty, an order of tomatos and an order of cucumbers. my chop was very tasty and juicy, not cooked perfectly, but acceptable, the lemon greens were tasty as well. my only problem was an order of cucumbers totaled five small sliced pieces drizzled with a vinegar dressing. at two dollars for this vegetable it was a complete rip off. that come to 40 cents per small slice. the same can be said of their order of tomatos which were three thin slices. we are in georgia, tomatos and cucumbers are plentiful, what's the deal? oh yeah, gouging the customer. be aware of this when ordering at this restaurant because poor food values abound and good food values are what drive frank. he cannot be fooled by trendy styles and food network propaganda.sweetpotatoes is decent catered-type food, but a great value it is not.

birthday lunch. we just got back from thesweetpotatoes kitchen and i loved it. today i had a short break from schoolwork to celebrate my birthday and it was exactly what i'd hoped for. the staff was incredibly nice and efficient, the food was excellent, and there was a great atmosphere. i definitely recommend it! my fiance' loved the fish and i had the jerk chicken salad and we thought both were excellent. they had the bestsweetpotato fries we've ever had. thesweetpotato salad was good, but it wasn't something i'd probably order again based on my preferences.

featured on food network! adam richman from "man vs food" came for the peach glazed bbq chicken, which is their famous dish. he also enjoyed their world's best banana pudding, which may very well be! i love banana pudding and you must save room for desert so you can enjoy some. my mom joined us for sunday lunch and she ordered the peach bbq chicken. i ordered the catfish which was perfect! crust with a crunch but the fish was tender as could be. for my 2 sides i pickedsweetpotatoe fries and brussel sprouts. the fries were much more fresh and flavorful than mostsweetpotatoe fries and had sprinkled sugar and salt on them to give them a good savory/sweet flavor. the brussel sprouts were mushy and i prefer mine a bit more firm in texture. my wife ordered the buffalo chicken salad which was big. it was ice berg lettuce topped with large fried chicken tenders, bacon, blue cheese and blue cheese dressing. it was not very spicy. the atmosphere is casual and very colorful inside. if you are looking for some good southern food then this place is for you!

came here for a late lunch around 3pm and were immediately seated andsweettea brought to the table within the minute we sat down. service was very friendly without being overbearing. staff really knows their menu and seem proud of the place.

mains: i got the 1/2 mixed peach bbq chicken, very tender and moist. peach bbq meatloaf was excellent as well. the peach bbq sauce wassweetwith the slightest hint of spice with visible slivers of peach and pepper. catfish blt was easily 10 inches long and reportedly delicious though i didn't get a bite.

sides: all of theirsweetpotato sides are also verysweet(fries are served dusted with brown sugar) so keep that in mind when ordering. corn pudding was great and didn't skimp on the corn. cucumbers with vinaigrette were a perfect contrast to thesweetrich food.

dessert: it hardly needs to be said that the banana pudding was to die for, serving size was 1 1/2 cups but rich enough for 3 to share.

would definitely recommend to others and will be back myself.

went tosweetpotatoes many times while in savannah, and always loved it. amazing meatloaf and their peach bbq sauce they serve with it is great, sides vary by the day but we're always good, and nice biscuits. i have actually tried making meatloaf and my own version of the peach sauce since moving away from the area, and it's good, but if i'm back in savannah i will be there for lunch, and am willing to wait, as it can be crowded, i guess having great food can make that happen.

definitely not what you would expect from the outside. the food was okay..nothing really special. thesweetpotato mash was delicious! but everything else was just okay my opinion. our waitress was so sweet. i tried the banana pudding which is supposed to be amazing but it wasn't anything to rave about. they had a lot of sides that sounded good. maybe the veggie plate which is 4 sides would be a good choice!

average food, nice ambiance. i wish there was a so-so button. the restaurant itself is a cute establishment. the food was overrated in my opinion. i had the peach glazed chicken with cabbage andsweetpotatoes. everything was just ok. a place with the name ofsweetpotatoes should have the bombsweetpotatoes. i could've made this dish 10x better at home. so disappointed.

fantastic. if you're looking for some great southern and soul food outside of the main tourist areas in savannah, sweetpotatoes kitchen is great! i loved the catfish with tomato relish, extra seasonings gave it a unique flavor. sides of black eyed peas and corn pudding were surprisingly flavorful and my biscuit was delicious. thesweettea was weak and not to my liking but didn't detract from the meal.

the ambiance was a quirky mish-miash. brightly lit with bright colors, half the restaurant is finished in hardwood floors and decorations on the wall that reflect southern charm, the other half has an old linoleum tile that elicits a feeling of being in a gas station.

service was very good, plenty of attention was given by the hostesses and servers, though delivery of the food was slow, 15+ minutes on an evening when the restaurant wasn't half full.

overall, though, great food at a very reasonable price! probably not the place for you if you're looking for a romantic dinner out, but if we want a tasty meal in a casual setting, get yourself tosweetpotatoes kitchen.

going on my regular rotation. i'm not sure why it took me so long to try this place, but now that i have i will go back regularly. my friend and i both enjoyed the pot roast tremendously. between us, we had thesweetpotato-apple mash, lemony collard greens, corn pudding, and black-eyed peas. i'd give all high marks, but i was envious of the delicious looking okra and tomatoes the woman at the next table ordered. next time!

never again. hello, 

this doesn't even earn one star!
i personally have been coming tosweetpotatoes for the past 8 years and have had nothing but a positive experience; however, i will never support this establishment ever again! i spoke to a manager about our annual chatham county deaf and hard of hearing thanksgiving feast. i was looking for a place to host our gathering and i thought to myself what better place to have it! the food and service is perfect! well, things started off great. he was enthusiastic to have us and we have been in contact for about 4 or 5 business days and made plans and set prices, and when i told him we would be there from 11 to about 1:30, he decided to let me know that he would no longer host us because they would lose business!!!!!!! not only was i shocked and appalled, he didn’t let me say anything and actually hung up on me without saying goodbye. bad choice mister! not only was it not professional, it was heart wrenching when the students got so excited about the thought of having their 20th annual thanksgiving feast atsweetpotatoes a restaurant i brag about every time i go there, just for me to turn around and say that we have been dismissed.sweetpotatoes, you have lost the business of over 50 upset patrons, with which i am sure there will be more to follow.

i givesweetpotatoes an "ok." the flavors in everything i had just didn't quite work. their "world-famous banana pudding" is made with powdered mix. i was disappointed after the other reviews i read.
