we were able to walk in without a booking, and sat at the bar where we watched one of the chefs prepare our sashimi and sushi, which was a lot of fun. we ordered oysters with ponzu, kingfish sashimi, a medium plate of sashimi (12 pieces), balmain bug, wagyu tataki and a dynamite sushi roll. our favourites were the wagyu, which was served with pickled onions and egg yolk, was smokey, creamy and melt in your mouth delicious, and the balmain bug tempura- crispy, meaty, inventive and extremely flavourful. the sashimi and sushi were both veryfreshand delicious.

for drinks we had the "inglorious bastard" cocktail, which tasted quite herbal, and "senpai", which was fruity and refreshing. both were welcome accompaniments to our meal, and neither was too strong.

service was very professional; overall we thoroughly enjoyed the meal and appreciated the extra touch of complementary dessert!

this a fancy high end japanese restaurant located in the establishment building. the atmosphere is very classy and the service is good. the food was okay but not for what it's worth. we ordered a few dishes to share and my favourite was the spicy scallops which was veryfreshand flavoursome.

high end sushi restaurant in the establishment building. i was taken here for my birthday and i must admit, the sushi is veryfreshand well made. it is very expensive though so it's probably more suited to the business crowd. nice ambience and great service.

food was great. tastedfreshand flavorful, especially the thick sashimi (not enough of them for $39!). have not touched the main dishes yet, but my friend and i ordered two rolls, agedashi tofu, foie gras, and the sashimi for two, and we went out of the restaurant with slightly tighter jeans and shortness of breath (not illness, just very very full). the umeshu was alsofreshand not too sweet as some plum wines can be.
services was prompt and tentative without being interruptive (they asked us if everything was alright just the right amount of time).
i would say, the price tag was a bit steep, but it is fresh, it is in a fancy establishment (get it get it?), the chefs definitely know what they're doing and it's totally perfect for those of you guys who want to impress the ladies!!.
also, kinda awesome place to have a catchup night with your friends and quietly people watch. trust me on this.

this sushi bar is right in amongst the trendy establishment. great atmosphere. the sushi chefs working hard and do not lose focus at all.freshsashimi of high quality, soft shell crab and bay bug sushi made to order. on the higher end of japanese dining with a good selection of alcohol, i can see the appeal.

came here for a birthday dinner. veryfreshsashimi (almost as good as my top place to go for sashimi in crows neat :)) sushi was great. ambiance was lovely, staff were attentive as well. the only downside i remember was the green tea ice cream which was the consistency and texture of clag glue (so have your dessert elsewhere). not very appealing. other than than, tops.

after trying what's on offer at the tsukiji fish markets in japan a year ago, the sushi restaurants in sydney never tasted quite the same anymore. until one special evening, we decided to give sushi e a go... it's probably one of the most premium sushi places in sydney, but you definitely get what you pay for. starting off with a small sashimi - sofreshand full of umami, definitely got my saliva flowing for more. the agedashi tofu came in a deliciously smokey, salty dashi broth, which balanced well with the big blocks of silken tofu. the platter of nigiri was the star and it was superb. we picked six types and had two of each, the scampi and salmon belly were my favourites. last but not least we had the balmain bug tempura roll, and we're stuffed at that point. everything was fresh, flavours were executed with an expert level of finesse. big thumbs up and give this place a try the next time you're reminiscing about tsukiji...

everything was delicious. the snapper sashimi's sauce was amazing, esp the taste of sesame blended with the oil. the special rice roll with mango in it, the mango brought out a veryfreshsense to the whole roll. the "mayo" sauce of scampi is very special, i couldn't taste what is it, but it matches up so well with the scampi. the final dessert was very refresh to finish the lunch.

sushi e has been sitting on my wish list ever since it was chronicled by one of my favourite food bloggers, pris of food porn nation . i was sold as soon as i saw awesome japanese tapas, freshsashimi and some modern takes on traditional japanese staples. let me try and sell you now (i swear i have no arranged marriage in place with sushi-e. speaking of, you know my old man has been trying to pimp me out to some of our family friends? he sends photos of me to them accompanied by a question mark than eagerly awaits responses. i wish i was making this up).

sushi e restaurant is part of the merivale group, which own many other hip/ high class/ hatted restaurants. with high hopes at sushi e, here comes the food....... -- the food --  large sashimi ($50) fish was fairly fresh. cutting technique was fair. scallops were lessfresh/ "sweet" than i normally have elsewhere. slightly overpriced for what it is. i've had better sashimi platters. i wish they usedfreshwasabi. hotate sushi ($5), scampi sushi ($10), 2x salmon belly sushi ($16),  salmon roe sushi ($8) i wish they seared the scallop slightly as the scallop lacked the "fresh water taste"/ "sweetness" (if you know what i mean). the scampi sushi was fair, again lacked the "fresh water taste". the salmon belly sushi was seared but with no teriyaki sauce drizzled prior to searing, which made it a bit dry. the salmon roe was alright but i've had great ones in japan so i'm a picky one when it comes to japanese food eel sushi ($8) flavours were alright but the eel was a bit dry (not juicy) ba

...dearly love flame-seared aburi salmon, and this was no exception. i particularly enjoyed the savoury pop of the salmon roe on my tongue; nothing quite compares to itsfreshflavour. the sushi platter on the $33 meal deal menu consists of four pieces of tuna and avocado roll and six pieces of nigiri – tuna, salmon, ocean trout, scallop, snapper and prawn.
