we were able to walk in without a booking, and sat at the bar where we watched one of the chefs prepare our sashimi and sushi, which was a lot of fun. we ordered oysters with ponzu, kingfish sashimi, a medium plate of sashimi (12 pieces), balmain bug, wagyu tataki and a dynamite sushi roll. our favourites were the wagyu, which was served with pickled onions and egg yolk, was smokey, creamy and melt in your mouth delicious, and the balmain bug tempura- crispy, meaty, inventive and extremely flavourful. the sashimi and sushi were both veryfreshand delicious.
for drinks we had the "inglorious bastard" cocktail, which tasted quite herbal, and "senpai", which was fruity and refreshing. both were welcome accompaniments to our meal, and neither was too strong.
service was very professional; overall we thoroughly enjoyed the meal and appreciated the extra touch of complementary dessert!
