we went for a birthday dinner and had some good and bad parts. i ordered the shrimp and grits, which were very well done. our birthday girl ordered the mussels and frites, again done well. our third order was the fresh catch, pompadour grilled. the fillet still had the mud line in, which made it very fishy tasting. we told the waiter about it and he informed the manager. the manager came over and apologized, but no adjustment to the bill. somewhat disappointing.

sundays are amazing here! the frozen mimosas were out of this world. didn't get to try the french 75 though, which i heard was great too. the raw oysters were nice in size and excellent. the gumbo had a dark roux, just the way i like it. must go back.

this restaurant was overpriced, outdated, like warm water with no ice, hard bread, and their waiter sucked ass! this was probably the worst restaurant i've been to in new orleans. bought a tuna steak it was disgusting. the blackened catfish napoleon was delicious. the drink i ordered something with gin and champagne actually tasted like a clean long island. the waiter told us that he was busy and when he said he hoped we come back i said i never would. he just walked off. they only give you one small butter pat for the entire table. i was not impressed their white bean cassoulet which was very runny and not at all tasty. i would not ever tell people to eat here. ever under any circumstances.

i wanted to love this place, gorgeous inside, fine decor, kinda busy. cool seats fixtures, heck even the bathroom has cool sinks. the service and food was just below par. orders taken for the 8 person party, "salads are coming out" says the waiter. yet the next thing to arrive was the entree. what happened to the salad. no worry, we'll just bring it out out of order. got the fish topped with crawfish ettouffee. but the was no crawfish in sight. where's the crayfish? "it's that yellow sauce.". c'mon. he brought me out some crayfish to add. bad place.

nice place. great service. the raw oysters were fresh and large. the waiter suggested the char-grilled oysters, which were excellent. the carrot cake was delicious and enough for two!

typical new orleans fried seafood offerings priced to make people in the trendy neighborhood feel like they are getting higher quality. food is ok. the wait for the food, however, is long...very long. think 30 minutes for a dozen oysters on the half shell priced at well over $1.00 per oyster. appetizers consisting of 4 fried oysters for $12. ok but not worth the wait.

had never eaten here until the day after the sugar bowl 2016.  our waiter was excellent!  knowledgeable, friendly, efficient and fun!  the food (shrimp and grits and gumbo) was delicious.  the mimosas were perfect---get the frozen ones.  everything about this restaurant was wonderful.....the aesthetics, the wait staff, the food.....would eat here any time i'm in nola.

a friend of mine chose this as her birthday brunch destination. luckily they do take reservation and they even offer complimentary valet service. by the time i arrived to the table i had a $3.00 frozen mimosa waiting for me. it was actually pretty good. i followed it with a zing zang bloody mary, they rim the glass with blackening season- just how i like it!
the oysters rockefeller and chargrilled were good- nothing spectacular. everyone loved the carpaccio. i really enjoyed my salmon hash, i will most definitely get it again. we told the server it was our friends birthday. he brought out a decadent, molten, chocolate cake with ice cream and a huge sparkler in it. it reminded me of bottle service in vegas. it was a fabulous touch!
all in all, great ambiance, 3 piece jazz band on sunday, good drinks and good food. i'll be back:)

in a city that has so many choices for dining, i was rather disappointed in my choice of superior after cancelling my reservation at a brennan property. my food was good, i had the oyster sampler which was delicious, gumbo that was nothing special, and bbq shrimp which were pretty good. my major issue was my wife's so-called $35 filet mignon. now i get this is a seafood restaurant, but if you want to charge $35 for a piece of meat, than it should be edible! the filet was about an inch thick, square and looked and tasted like a piece of boneless sirloin! it was tough and not like any filet we had ever seen or tasted (i tried it to see what my wife was complaining about). the waitress came by and asked if there was a problem and my wife said the meat was unacceptable. she rudely said she would get a manager. the manager came, asked what the problem was and then asked if my wife had even tasted the meat since only a small portion was gone (guess your supposed to eat half the meal before sending it back)! my wife is not a big seafood person and had her heart set on a filet, and said she would just eat the baked potato and be done. the manager said he would remove the meat (i refuse to call it filet) from the bill and charge us for the potato. neverless, i was okay with my food and was told by my still hungry wife that superior seafood was not good. we won't be back! too many dining choices in this foodie city, though sometimes it's hit or miss!

a great friend and i were in the city from the coast. looking to get a late lunch was proving a difficult request, didn't realize more than a few restaurants in that part of the city close between lunch and dinner. superior seafood looked to be our only option in the area for an upscale but casual bite. if you hate crowded noisey restaurants then try here on a weekday around three. you won't have a problem. the drinks are quite strong maybe so that you don't notice the sparseness of actual seafood in your meal. that's not to say what seafood was plated wasn't fresh and prepared to perfection just it seemed sparce for the price. i'm not looking for a cheesecake factory size portion mind you but three fried oysters on the fried oyster salad seems to me to be ...sparce.

march 16th, 2015 | author: burgerdogboy superior seafood is on the st. charles streetcar line, a quick ride from the quarter.   superior’s  menu incorporates the best of local seafood,  po boys, plates, and fresh catch, with beef, chicken and pasta available for those who partake in those edibles.  it’s moderately priced ($10 – $25), is happy to toss you a loaf of leidenheimer’s to start with, is open for lunch and dinner seven days, with brunch service sunday mornings. my companion is a local, as local as you can get, her family having arrived in 1750, and she had a hankering for a shrimp po-boy and said superior was the one for her.  i ordered a half with fries, she ordered a whole one and said i’d regret my diminutive order. which i did. she said she’d share, but she lied. it’s one delicious sandwich, and they had outstanding coffee as well. classic cocktails run $8-$12, and they have a happy hour daily from 4:00 – 6:30, the highlight of which is 50 cent raw oysters, a bargain these days. wine list is respectable and value-priced. they do catering , including crawfish boils . shrimp po boy   superior seafood review posted in bread , hot off the grill , sandwiches , seafood | tags: @superiornola , new orleans , oysters
