busy, noisy, designer chic, full of 30 somethings. and a great night out. the food varies from ok through to brilliant.

i didn’t order the food which 4 of us shared. someone chose ‘sweet and sour pork’ which would not normally be something i’d enjoy. too many average dishes when we were living in hk. but here it was outstanding. theporktender but seared and the sauce depth just lovely. juicy thom kha mussels resulted in much finger licking. a vegetarian curried pumpkin was pleasant enough. appetisers of grilled sausage ( very, very good) and shaved wagyu in rice roll ( not as good, with the rice overwhelming the wagyu).

service was enthusiastic and friendly despite the frantic pace of the restaurant.

i can well understand the popularity of syg. and highly recommend to those of you not bothered by the noise level.

we came to sum yung guys after seeing highly rated reviews. where to even start? the food was over powering in salt and spiciness there was no flavour to the dishes we ordered, the fish in the green curry was dry and over cooked, no flavour but spice in the paw paw salad andporkdad daew. the service was really pushy as well, our waitress kept pushing us to order more even though we were content with what we wanted. as someone with an asian background this is honestly a disgrace to “asian food”. i presume the only reason why the rating is so high is the fact that it is located in noosa and everyone there thinks that this is the “standard” that asian food should be. to top it off my partner and i both got upset stomachs from the food. if you are experiencing constipation this would be the perfect place to go to really clear your bowels. you can get perfectly cooked asian green curry, tom sum, and dad daew in brisbane for under $20 with double the portion size. i would suggest getting the basics of asian cooking right before even trying to attempt a pitiful effort at modern asian fusion.

if you’re going to sum yung guys make sure you book because walk in spots are limited. restaurant is perfect for groups as the menu is share style.
🍽 ordered 3 medium, 3 large and a couple of sides for a group of 6. was plenty of food. highlights were the crying tiger beef, sweetporkcheek and the cuttlefish. however, all dishes were very tasty and all very different.
💁‍♀️ very busy place but services was attentive. water glasses were continually filled. orders taken promptly. bit of a wait between medium and large dishes but that’s fine when the food is delicious.

it was a great experience. we ordered green curry, porkbelly and short rib. they are all very nice, green curry is a bit spicy but still very good! love the short rib, it is so soft inside and crisp at outside. staff are friendly, it is great overall.

it’s good. it’s very good. january marches on and the holiday season melts into the background, but still we find time for a late lunch with family members. it’s just the four of us, but this is a perfect number when sharing dishes. a warm welcome ticks the arrival box, and then an ever so generous tasting to help us decide our wine choice absolutely blows us away. this is something you don’t get even in a fine diner, but this is sunshine beach and the line is blurred between fine and ever so good casual dining. all for the better.
now the food. crispy rice cake contains quite the kick, and the bbqporkbelly is oh so more-ish. crying tiger beef ribs (off the bone) accompanied by a cucumber, snow pea and mint salad is a great combo. just beaten however by the green curry barramundi as consensus pick of our dishes. the red curry duck is on a par with rik shores. one minor gripe for me would be a preference for linen napkins. difficult to get a table, but well worth it. make every effort to get here.

fantastic food, very similar to chin chin in melbourne. we had 6 kids with us, a couple that aren’t fans of asian food but they all came away highly impressed.

would recommend the salmon green curry, satay sugarloaf and for the kids we the kids fish / chicken dishes, roti bread and bbqporkbelly in honey.
service was friendly, attentive and helpful with menu selections. this restaurant totally deserves its high zomato rating.

this place was recommended by a local.
great street food vibe.
great location.
for food/drinks we ordered omfc cocktail (tanqueray+espresso+chocolate+orange) which was different to the usual take of espresso martini. the taste of orange overpowered the drink so it wasn't to my liking. the pina colada also wasn't smooth and tasted like excess of alcohol.
for starter i had tom kha mussels which was beautiful however felt like it's lacking some crunchy element. my partner enjoyed the sweet sour pineappleporkvery much (he said it's the best he's had).
for main we both shared chicken nyonya curry. i came from malaysian background and in my opinion the curry was delicious however wasn't special and that it's missing some element.
the waitresses were all lovely and one of them was trying to be helpful by suggesting roti to be eaten with tom kha as it is a broth dish which i thought was odd as we don't usually dip roti in thai broth and it's usually paired with indian curry. however i appreciate the suggestion.
i feel that the restaurant was trying to be inventive and serving different asian originated cuisines in a different way which is a positive thing, however it might take a while until it matures up, until then it might feel a bit confusing.
also another tip, if you're a couple you might want to reserve counter table as it has more privacy. we booked standard table and ended up sitting next to family with kids who encroached my seat while playing with their beeping mobile.
overall, i think they have great potential however i might stick to restaurant serving traditional asian food.

pretty good food. lots of sweet/salty flavour. good variety of meat. loved everything however i expected more from the sweet and sour pork...i wanted thick caramelised ooey-gooey sticky sauce, but it was thin and liquidy sitting on the base of the plate. it was hard to coat theporkbecause the sauce was so fluid. unfortunately the delicious flash fried slow cookedporkbelly pieces were rather dry because the sauce was so thin. great location, fun and fast atmosphere. would go again.

wanted somewhere local to go on our holiday and found this place. good reviews and i'm another one. kid friendly and nice staff. the small , medium and large menu options work great for a group(which we were). great asian flavors with a bit of a different twist, could eat 3 orders of the syg sweet and sourporkmyself. can get pricy with too many medium or large menu items but i think it was worth it. didn't have their personal brand larger available which is where they lost points otherwise great place.

it is rare that you go to these restaurants and everything is on point.porkby far the best dish although chocolate mouse and honey chicken ribs not far behind. how this living legend did not win masterchef still baffles me. a must for any visitor and local
