great food great service!. came in for dinner as a party of 6 for my friends birthday this week. nick was our waiter, who just excelled throughout the entire evening. food was also cooked to perfection everyoneorderedsomething different and all were highly satisfied. took us ages to decide what to order as every item on the menu sounded wonderful! presentation was also excellent on the plate.compliments to the chef we will be back! coming from a background in 5 star hotels it takes alot to impress me but from the moment i sat down i felt welcomed and relaxed. we even brought a cake which can sometimes not go down well, but was greeted with a smile and the staff even sang happy birthday! just want to say a big thanks to nick his manners and service skills were spot on and really added to the total experience.

went for mothers day breakfast and i must say i am very disappointed the food was horrible i had half burnt pancakes and half raw pancakes the toast was stone cold! after being there for half an hour we recieved the coffees weorderedthe largest coffee possible but recieved the small cups as they had ran out of the larger mugs was not told this until we asked were these the largest. common courtesy would have been an apology and explanation without having to be asked. after about another 20 mins a waitress came to the table and told us we would have to leave to make room for the next customers when asked if we could speak to the manager he came over we explained some of us hadnt even finished our meals yet and he just dismissed what we were saying then starting having a laugh about it with one of the guys out the back very unprofessional! when we went to pay the waitress said it was unacceptable that we only had 40 mins to eat our breakfast and leave and said she can offer takeaway coffees as the apology but we would have to pay for them!?! i will never be going back to the steel tree and will tell all my family and friends about the rude unhelpful and disgusting food and service we recieved!

beautiful view but that is where it ended. service was really slow. we waited 30minutes to order drinks. the staff seemed to be avoiding us. i ended up going up to the drinks counter and asked to be served. weordereddrinks first. iordereda gin and tonic and a bottle of bubbles. my gin was made with water not tonic and they brought us out a bottle of still wine not bubbles. all good they replaced my gin and tonic and swapped the wine over. yay. now onto the food. weorderedthe seafood platter for two for $85. it was horrible and really small. we got 4 oysters which were supposed to be natural but came out as overcooked and as kilpatrick. we got 6 overcooked mussels in a tomato sauce (not chilli at all) 6 small prawns in a bland white sauce (tasted like they were frozen), some rubbery squid and two pieces of fish that tasted like bassa and was mushy and cold chips. for $85 i expected way more. should of went to palm beach cafe instead. really really really average. i’m a local and am never going back.

my husband and iorderedthe share plate. i doubt that anything on that plate was made in that kitchen on the night. the squid was like rubber, the duck wings weren’t duck, they were chicken ( yes your diners can tell the difference) the mushroom was watery with the weird egg combo on top. my sonordereda coke, which was poured from a 2 litre bottle and it was flat. i returned the coke to the bar. and yes it was replaced, he had a coke that they poured from a newly opened bottle. i thought that was a weird practice in itself as generally when you order a fizzy drink it is served in the can or small bottle for the customer to pour into a glass! my sonorderedthe made to order burger with beef. he said he didn’t think much of it. whilst sitting there at the table, the bar shelf looked messy and cluttered. i looked up to see large old cobwebs in and around the light fittings. the seating arrangement felt uncomfortable. the only positive was the service from the waitress ( however, she forgot my sonorderedbeef, she was learning though) she was friendly.
to say i was disappointed on our friday night meal is an understatement.
i will never walk through your doors again.

food was very average, weordered3 mains. the pumpkin and cheese tart - give that a 5/10 - nothing special. the carbonara- was horrible, give it a 3/10. and the fish and chips, i really liked it, although i don't eat fish! while my partner said it tasted like it came from a fish and chip shop.. only it was more than double the price! i'd give it a 6/10.
i was looking forward to trying this place due to their good reviews and how busy they were! although service was great, all we wanted was an awesome meal! we searched the strip for ages looking for the perfect place.. and ended up regretting our decision.. 😔

disappointing meal poor service.orderedreef on reef special and was refused the option to change out chips and salad to mash and vegetables. waited over an hour for main which came swimming in enough garlic sauce to meet a kebab shops full weekend rush. unlikely to return.

wouldnt eat here again. we sat outside for lunch, the waitress didnt come to us so i had to go inside and ask for menus. onceorderedthe meal took ages to come, i had to ask how long it would be. there was only four tables, total 8 people to cook for. the meal i could have done myself at home and in half the time!

very disappointing. went here with some work colleagues for lunch last year and joined their birthday club which allows you to dine with one friend and get a meal on the house. attended with a group of 5 and we were not allowed to use the birthday voucher as someone hadorderedoff the 'specials' menu even though three people hadorderedexpensive mains. the specials menu items are not really any cheaper than the regular lunch menu items. further to this, we had to wait an hour and a half for our meals which were then served cold. will not be going back!

not the steel tree of old. i hadn't been here in a while, so thought we would try it out a few weeks ago. much to my disappointment, it is just not of the same quality or service that it once was. it was a tuesday, so not a busy night and restuarant half full, so you would expect quick attentive service. wrong. you expect the wait staff to listen when you are taking your order. wrong. as a result they bought out the wrong drinks.orderedoysters kilpatrick for entree. they didn't seem overly fresh. they were slimy and too much sauce and bacon, maybe to cover the lack of freshness. wait staff took a while to clear the table, then we waited at least 30 minutes for our main. i hate to see the wait on a busy night. the mains were ok, but nothing to write home about. overall the we paid the same or more than what we used to, when this place was good, and got much less than we bargained for. i wish i could say i would come again, but am really reluctant to waste my money when there are other more worthy places around perth

awful, stopped her for breakfast the other day. the café next door was still putting their chairs out so we went to steel tree instead, what a mistake. we sat down, nobody cleared away the dirty plates from the people before, had to ask for the waitress to come take our order. asked for another water glass, that did not appear. waited for 30 minutes, no coffee, no breakfast. meanwhile people had sat down at the café next door which wasn’t open when we had walked past,orderedtheir breakfasts and were happily eating away. asked where breakfast was, only to be told they didn’t know. breakfast eventually arrived (the people at the café next door had eaten and paid and left the café by this time) still no coffee...or cutlery to eat with. asked for cutlery, waitress went back inside and started to serve someone else. waited 5 minutes with food on the table, still no cutlery, went inside and got our own cutlery. still no coffee. ate half the breakfast and the coffees finally arrived, the additional water glass never did. food was ok, but how do you go wrong with eggs on toast. service was terrible, would never return.

no service. after receiving no service at a nearby restaurant we thought the steel tree looked promising. while we were shown to a table and given menu's promptly it seems we were then forgotten about. a table that came in after us received good service andorderedtheir meals but still we were ignored. eventually we got up and left - won't be going back.

have eaten here quite a few times and although i don't mind the food in general, the service can be hit and miss. especially in the mornings, twice last week we sat andorderedcoffee and over 30mins later did not arrive. needless to say we went elsewhere for breakfast.

first time poster on urbanspoon and it sucks that it is a bad review, but steel tree @ the l foreshore was one of the worst meals i ever had.orderedarancini balls as entree and they came out soggy and oily, thought it couldn't get any worse. then came out the main. fish and chips is not hard to get right yet somehow, they have put me off fish for life.
