awesome. i love smuggler's. i've frequented smuggler's yearly since i was 5. i'm now 40. i always have a great experience.

sunday brunch. today, oct. 16th we had company in from out of town. i thought we would try smugglers sunday brunch. we did and i might add it was a total disappointment all around. the bacon was burnt beyond crisp, the sole fish had zero taste, roast beef was 75% fat, french toast was like mush, and they had no salmon left on the plate and this was by 11:20 a.m.. the only item that was ok were the eggs benedict. would i return the answer is no. would i recommend and the answer is the same.

just had the #3 cut prime rib. all i will say is that it was awesome! get it with the neptune! i'll be back just for this. everyone else in the group all enjoyed their food aswell. our server was polite and experienced.

dishonest waiter. great steaks however six other people witnessed me specifically order the "first mates cut" (15 oz) prime rib the waiter proceeds to serve me the 22 oz instead, insisting that was i ordered (i am a petite a female, no way i would order the biggest cut). the portions are quite generous and many of us could not tell the difference. besides the fact that i could not finish my meal i could not tell the waiter had upsold me, until the bill came. very dishonest and ruined a nice meal. smooth talking waiter, seemed friendly, but be careful. extremely disappointed. worst kind of service.

very good steaks. i had steak soup and ribs and steak, it all tasted good will rate it 9/10

ate like kings...no really!!!. kids loved the atmosphere right along with us! great soups, bread, & salad bar!! loved my chicken sandwich too! we all left happy & very satisfied!

the fish was yummy, i recommend the halibut. the meat was tender. i eally enjoyed the dinner there

i would like to bathe in the steak soup.

horrible breakfast buffet!. the breakfast buffet here is downright terrible. ultra-dry everything, super oily omlettes, leftover meats from the night before, etc. anyone who says this place is good either owns the place, or hasn't been there in 25 years.

saturday brunch gem. now, i know that when people say "brunch", most of you think "sunday!!", and you can certainly visit smuggler's inn on that day, but i'll let you in on a secret, they're also open for brunch on saturday. for a very reasonable price, guests can enjoy smuggler's famous roast beef, as well as an omelette station, various salads and hot dishes, as well as desert. we have visited numerous saturdays, and have never made a reservation, just walked right in, even with a larger group! the quality, flavour, and presentation of the food is excellent, although the deserts are a bit limited. i never have much room left for desert, anyway, not after a thick slice of roast and all the other options.

excellent service. in our latest visit to smugglers, the food was excellent as it always is. i've yet to go there and not enjoy the meal. the servers add so much to the meal by being knowledgeable and helpful. the service was great and i'll return there often.

alberta beef, yo!. the dining pinnacle of my recent trip to calgary. i wanted to taste the famous alberta beef while i was there and smuggler's was recommended by natives. a little pricier than i normally go, but well worth it. the #1 prime rib meal was the best i've ever had! salad bar/soup, potato (baked or mashed), lovely roasted veggies and this amazing slab of (to quote gimli from lord of the rings) red meat on the bone. i've always been told that prime rib can't be served any rarer than medium rare - wrong! this prime rib was rare. amazing rare and so juicy and tender. my only complaint? i couldn't move after i ate - and i'd do it all again :)

usually it is pretty good. however, a "top" restaurant would make sure that their "steak" soup actually had steak in it and not a huge pot of gravy. this is a place where the waiters are trained not to be concerned if you don't like something. if something doesn't taste right, it is because you don't appreciate good food. couldn't be a thing about them having a bad recipe. the hostess was nice but the waiter is best described as arrogant.

it was good. delicious steak, decent salad bar, decent selection.

gave it another shot!. after a two year absence i decided to return. would it be better than my last visit, which i unfavorably critiqued a couple of years ago on urban spoon. you bet it was!! i guess it was just an off evening.

the salad bar and the steak soup was great. a new addition to the salad bar was the bread sticks. excellent!!! had two :-)

the baby back ribs were amazing... thick bbq sauce on fall off the ribs meat. magnificant. the whipped baked potato was good also. rick ordered a steak and garlic mushrooms. also excellent he said. i wish we had room for desert but wow... we were overstuffed!

i recognized our waiter as someone who had been around for a long time. he had been there for 18 years... no wonder he looked familiar. he went on to say there were several others there that have been with smuggler's +10 years. pretty unusual for a restaurant.

i will be back... so glad we gave it another shot!
