smuggler's is always great. their extensive salad bar is a greatplaceto start a meal. with lots to choose from you can easily fill yourself up before you even get your entree. don’t forget to try the steak soup and bread sticks at the other complimentary bar. i love me some meat and smugglers is one of the best places to eat it. it is high quality and always cooked to perfection. their prime rib is the best you can get anywhere and their deserts are tough to beat. an easy 5 star every time.

thisplaceis overrated the food is not the good and the food selection is not good.had the worst service they had one girl looking after 10 tables which was obviously too much for her i think the whole time we were there she came to our table once to refill our water. have been to the carriage house for brunch and it was way better than this place.

smugglers is the go toplacefor prime rib. i would have to say i was very delighted with my experience here. upon entry we were warm welcomed and greeted by the manager. the decor inside has a cosy feel and dark for those romantic settings. they also include a salad bar with their entree meals ranging from greens to soups and fresh breadsticks. we order the scallops and bacon, brie, and first mate's cut prime rib. the scallops were flavorful and juicy, the brie was topped with i believe saskatoon berries (super delicious) and the prime rib was nicely seasoned, perfectly cooked and juicy (satisfied my meat craving). i seriously could not eat the whole prime rib... i'd recommend you try it out.

mediocre food served up by agitated and condescending wait staff holding berating and snubbing off customers in a dated dreary husk of a restaurant that hails from a time when it might have been the only steakplacein town...thank god it's not anymore.

came here on friday for dinner. quite busy but we had made reservations online and were seated right away even though we were 15min early. we come here about once a month as the food quality is always consistently good

we started with their all you can eat salad bar - great selection; on this night though when something ran out it took awhile to get replenished. kids loved the steak soup and came back for more helpings. they usually have one soup that is different and today it was french onion - my favourite; i topped it with cheese and croutons from the salad bar and it tasted as good as you can get anywhere.

wife and i had the prime rib sandwich - medium rare. cooked to perfection. had to go with the spicier horseradish as the one that came with it is a bit mild. i also got mac n cheese on the side for my little one. my eldest got the chicken fingers which she didn't eat much of as she was full of salad and soup. nice to see they have a kids meal finally.

food was great as per usual. this used to be ourplaceto go for a fancy meal but it's actually pretty reasonably priced. other places for our family of 4 can easily ring up over 100 dollars - this was 70.

service was a bit slow though on this night. when waitress came had to say lots of stuff we wanted as didn't know when she'd be back. otherwise, a great night out.

love the salad bar and the dark decor, but they need to uo their steak game. the portuguese soup at the salad bar makes the trip worth it. with the abundance of steak places in calgary thisplacecould be a 5 star if they would uo their food game a bit more. definitely worth the stop

i was here for brunch buffet on the weekend, and it was disappointing. i remember going to the brunch buffet when i was young and it had a huge variety food and theplacewas packed with people. now, there's a lot less food and only a few groups of people. the quality wasn't great either. the beef was dry and wasn't well marbled. they also had nachos and perogies as part of their hot entrees, which i personally wouldn't go crazy for at a brunch buffet. everything at the salad and dessert bars was great though.

throwback to the old days when all you could get in this town was steak. we went for the sunday buffet. same old. theplaceis a cave in need of a serious makeover. it just goes on and on and on. if you didn't know where the washroom was you'd get lost and they'd never find you.

when an amazing meal is on the menu, with a fireplace and cozyplaceto catch up and be inspired, and be an encouragement, the route points to @smuggler's.  a treat and the only stop for myself, and @npginc

my friends & i have been coming here for decades.  we love the cosy atmosphere, comfy chairs & non-intrusive music & lighting. the sausage/bean soup is always great, but on our last visit the steak soup was poor - brown gravy with no obvious pieces of meat. the salad bar selection is top notch & was promptly refilled as things disappeared. the prime rib continues to be the best i've ever eaten & very reasonably priced considering the portion size. my friends new york steak was perfectly cooked.  all in all an exceptionalplaceto eat in calgary.

i have been coming here for decades.  it is the "go to"placefor excellent prime rib. there are other items on the menu including chicken and fish, but i have never ordered them, as the beef is superior.   the salad bar including bread and soup are an added bonus, which is included in your meal. the only small negative i have to say is that it is somewhat dark, and little hard to see.  service has always been excellent.

always great to come here for a family dinner. smugglers is very spacious, but some parts of the restaurant is kinda dark. we always come here for a big family dinner when we are craving steak. i like the big salad bar that they have and lots to choose from. our steaks are always done really well, we really haven't had a bad meal here yet. i would recommend thisplacefor a big get together or small :) and especially if you enjoy steak!!!

my wife and mother in law have been here twice for lunch recently and its a very wholesome meal for a reasonable cost. the soups and salad bar are excellent except it fills you up. i have had the steak sandwich and the beef dip and both satisfied a beef lovers appetite. the service is excellent and you don't have to wait to eat. we used to go here 15 years ago and it is still a greatplaceto eat and you will not go home hungry. i highly recommend it.

damn thisplacehas such a killer medieval atmosphere and i loved it so much! the chairs are comfy as fuq and their free salad bar is hella good. they have this bacon potato soup that is so killer... i got swordfish which i dont recommend cause this is a steakhouse (idk what i was thinking either) but it did not taste all that good.... i super love the free salad bar they got going on tho.. their bacon potato (had a fancier name) soup was soooo yummmy and the salad is gud!! but i wanna try their ribs if i go back!!

salad bar. the only thing was that the lettuce didn't seem as fresh/crisp as it could have been as some of the edges were brown and we were there very early in the evening. the spinach and everything else on the salad bar was good. i really do miss the wasabi dressing and this time the bean salad was different too. i prefer the other.

another great meal, late evening sat, may 24th/2014. i looked at some of the reviews and was surprised by some of the negativity. we went for supper just after 9:00 (they close at 10) because my partner worked late and he’d been craving the portugese bean & sausage soup as well as the ribs for a few days just before. this is all he ever has and the last 2 times i have switched my favorite and each time our meals are great!!. naturally because we were so late in the evening, most of that soup was gone. he did manage to get a bowl but did see they took the pot away. he thought he'd check in case they brought out more (i told him they would not) but he came back very happy & grinning the i should have bet you look!!). we’ve never had a bad meal there and we go 3 - 4 times per year. we have been there twice already this year. we do not live in a perfect world and yes we've had a minor setback for instance a time when our waitress did not bring my wine with dinner & yes we did get free desert as an apology. what more can we ask for? yes i wanted it & was a disappointing but again was minor. things happen and these things do not happen often. come on people we have to be a little more giving & understanding. i know i speak for a few of us, we find the price affordable, like having the salad bar & service is good.

great evening. was back at smugglers for 2nd time this year. a friend of mines birthday is 7 days before mine towards the end of march. we don't get a chance to visit often & i had mentioned we go there. she hadn't been in years. i had the same dish and it was as good as before so there is consistency there. we had a wonderful dinner and visit. thanks.

supper - feb 7/13. as a family when we were younger we got to go out for meal and be treated special say your 18th birthday etc. anyhows after many years away, went back there last year and had a great meal. i have been there 4 times since mar 2012 with the most recent feb 7/13. i suggested to an elderly friend of mine we go there for supper as we treat ourselves once a year. she had never been before & was appreciative that it is aplaceto get food that isn't all really expensive. she most certainly did but i also enjoyed your salad bar and the chicken neptune was plenty and flavorful. we were able to chat in normal voices and our waiter was great also. she'd love to go back another time. thank you for not only a great dinner experience but for a memory that i shall cherish sharing it with her!!
