we were really impressed by the service here.foodwas great. my steak came medium when i asked for medium rare. they offerd to cook up a new one but i wasn't too bothered by it. the waitress gave us a free desert instead. other restaurants can learn something from these guys and how to treat customer's. thanks smugglers! !

this place is overrated thefoodis not the good and thefoodselection is not good.had the worst service they had one girl looking after 10 tables which was obviously too much for her i think the whole time we were there she came to our table once to refill our water. have been to the carriage house for brunch and it was way better than this place.

so bad. we had dinner there last night and it was the most disappointing meal we had ever had. first the drinks were so watery that they had no taste. order 1. the cajun chicken and the coating on the chicken just tasted salty not cajun at all and franks red hot on the side does not make it cajun. order 2 i had the parmesan encrusted steak, i asked to med well and got medium rare, it was all pink, and the parmesan on the steak was so bad, it was not real parmesan, it looked and tasted like the kraft parmesan in a can! scraped that off. now the salad bar, was again very sad, and the cold onion soup (a powder mix & greasy not homemade.) the peppers in the salad bar still had he labels stuck on them,so how good were they washed! i love salad bar when everything looks fresh and clean! yours did not impress!
the waiter still got a $30.00 tip as the gift certificate was for a $100 dollars but we will not be going back and will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone. also the bakery buns donot taste like fresh bread when you use a ready made bun, that taste like the pillsbury dough buns. everything there tasted as if it was all processedfoodnothing was fresh made.

my wife and went to smugglers for brunch on sunday. by far the worst ever experience we had.foodwhat little there was, cold and tasteless. they seem ill prepared for this brunch as others complained on lack offoodas well. felt sorry for staff as you could see their frustration as well...

came here on friday for dinner. quite busy but we had made reservations online and were seated right away even though we were 15min early. we come here about once a month as thefoodquality is always consistently good

we started with their all you can eat salad bar - great selection; on this night though when something ran out it took awhile to get replenished. kids loved the steak soup and came back for more helpings. they usually have one soup that is different and today it was french onion - my favourite; i topped it with cheese and croutons from the salad bar and it tasted as good as you can get anywhere.

wife and i had the prime rib sandwich - medium rare. cooked to perfection. had to go with the spicier horseradish as the one that came with it is a bit mild. i also got mac n cheese on the side for my little one. my eldest got the chicken fingers which she didn't eat much of as she was full of salad and soup. nice to see they have a kids meal finally.

food was great as per usual. this used to be our place to go for a fancy meal but it's actually pretty reasonably priced. other places for our family of 4 can easily ring up over 100 dollars - this was 70.

service was a bit slow though on this night. when waitress came had to say lots of stuff we wanted as didn't know when she'd be back. otherwise, a great night out.

love the salad bar and the dark decor, but they need to uo their steak game. the portuguese soup at the salad bar makes the trip worth it. with the abundance of steak places in calgary this place could be a 5 star if they would uo theirfoodgame a bit more. definitely worth the stop

i was here for brunch buffet on the weekend, and it was disappointing. i remember going to the brunch buffet when i was young and it had a huge varietyfoodand the place was packed with people. now, there's a lot lessfoodand only a few groups of people. the quality wasn't great either. the beef was dry and wasn't well marbled. they also had nachos and perogies as part of their hot entrees, which i personally wouldn't go crazy for at a brunch buffet. everything at the salad and dessert bars was great though.

ventured in the other night as it has been years since my last visit. sad to say it will be years if ever i return. pleased to see the same retro decor but can strongly say thefoodhas gone downhill since my last visit. soups were tasty but the salad bar was poorly stocked. and, sorry to sound overly picky, but since you have a salad bar every night, is it not possible to have better signage of the items than a dry erase marker on the sneeze guard? soups were very clearly labeled....why can't the salad bar be too?

ordered the signature prime rib. bland and poorly seasoned. yorkshire pudding was a joke size wise....i've seen mini stuffed yorkshires at pubs twice the size of the one i received. side veg was very well done cauliflower. overall....not impressed. maybe should have tried one of the other concepts.

my husband and i went here for his birthday. we have eaten here many times before and it's always been pretty good, while this last experience was horrendous! our server was super flakey and awful! she asked me about four times if i wanted a drink after i had already said i was fine with water. ourfoodtook forever, we both ordered the prime rib medium rare... they came finally and not only were they overcooked but they were cold. once when i went to the bathroom i saw our server in the hallway texting on her phone, perhaps that's why ourfoodwas cold?

anyway, after we finally tracked her down after waiting about 15 minutes we sent ourfoodback. another 40 minutes and they showed up, cooked better but still not to our liking and still cold!

we sat with ourfoodin front of us finished for about 25 minutes before she cleared our plates. after dessert she asked us if we wanted anything else we told her no just the bill please. she came around again and by this point the restaurant was empty and again asked if we wanted coffee or tea and we said no just the bill... after another 15 minutes she brought the bill but no machine... another 15 mins and finally she shows up with the machine. did we leave a tip? no we did not, because she didn't deserve one she was awful! if you don't like your job or being friendly then maybe think of another career. she then tried to get us to sign up for their royalty program, no can do.... we will never be back. so beyond disappointed!

love this place!foodhas always been good, and free soup and salad bar with the meal! never leave this restaurant hungry. it truly is quality and quantity! the decor is really neat too! feels like you've gone back to the medieval ages!

man i wish i can take an order of that steak soup to go everyday!! it was the reason we go back each time (not that the mainfoodisn't good) but that steak soup is a must and a wow you need to try as part of the salad and soup bar!

beyond slow. i've always heard good things. our waiter was disoriented and unorganized. we came with reservations. had to wait. once seated it took about an hour to take our order, over another hour for the appetizers andfoodto arrive. with no communication from the staff on why the wait for the table order drinks andfoodtook so long. we ordered prime rib. mine was filled with fat and my husbands was raw when he ordered medium rare. we finished the baked potatoes long before the chives and sour cream were brought out. overall very disappointed with thefoodand service. to get the bill was like pulling teeth. it took forever it wasn't right. complete chaos. i will not be coming back.

had dinner at smuggler's tonight and it was ..okay. prices are acceptable given that the soup & salad bar are included with entrees ($16 if you just want the soup & salad bar access seems quite steep, but still.). i just didn't think quality was there anymore, though. a few updates wouldn't go amiss. for example, the dressings on the salad bar look and taste like bottled kraft dressing, french fries are doppelgängers forfoodservice fries, and the red skinned garlic mashers are pretty similar to afoodservice product as well. that said, we were consistently underwhelmed (i.e. our plates were lukewarm when they reached us) but nothing was terrible. the salad bar had baby kale as well as the old-school (jello! canned peaches! mayo pasta salad!) fresh -and the most things did look fresh- items. desserts are huge, and ordered from a tray of plastic replicas. the room feels like a movie set with dark timbers, low flickering light, solid tables and throne-style chairs. service was attentive.

old school. wife and i just finished a dinner of prime rib and peppercorn crusted filet mignon.foodcame out hot but lacked flavour. meat dishes were tender and mine was well cooked but my wifes was overcooked. salad bar was average. definitely an old school dining experience.
