worst place ever. from the horrendous decor to the pathetic service, this was by far the worst dining experience of my life. the evening went downhill when they seated our party of eight in a dark corner on two different tables which were far from each other. the decor was absolutely nauseating; lighting was terrible and all the furniture was worn and stained. the staff were all dressed like homeless cowboys and our ill-educated server was completely off-beat and careless. after sifting through the sparse "buffet" of empty soup buckets and wilted lettuce, i had my overpriced quarter chicken that was completely boring. after we had all begun to eat, the air conditioning came on and was blowing on our heads which made us all shiver. i could not wait to get out of that place!!!

horrible service. went there last week and the service was horrible. from the time they took our order and to when we got our dinner was a good 45 minutes. when it finally came the waiter came around with the fixings for the potatoes oh sorry not a lot of sour cream i'll have to come back. by the time he came back the potatoe was cold. had to ask for gravy for the prime rib that took 10 minutes. came around with the dessert tray everything on was plastic (really in 2013) ordered creme burlee and it was stone cold. had to ask three or four times to pay for our bill. looked around at decor the tables and chairs very marked up and old. had to wonder when the last time they had cleaned the fabric chairs. salad bar nice idea but very 70's, you need to step it up

i absolutely love this place. the salad and soup bar is a wonderful idea, the good is delicious and the creme brûlée is incredible !!!!!!
the atmosphere is the cutest more comfortable place and the staff is amazing

this in question of colin who slammed smugglers. as an industry person i have to ask. you do know prime rib is not lean right?
i frequently eat here and have been told often that they do not factor in a bone into the weight. always it has been great and if you do get a tough piece( rarely) they promptly replace it.
colin! why wouldn't you bring your concerns up to the establishment? they have people who can address concerns.

best steak house in calgary. food and service is always amazing. prime rib is so tender, portions are giant i normally eat leftovers for 2 more meals. me and my husband go here once a month ($120) for the two of us, not once have ever not been wow'ed.

prime rib disaster. a couple of years ago i enjoyed the best prime rib of my life - large, lean, and luscious. a few weeks ago i returned with anticipation... never again. 1/3 of the expensive "captain & friends" cut was bone! i know that prime rib should be roasted on the bone, but to increase profits, the smuggler's inn now leaves the bone on - your cost - ok if you've got a dog waiting back home, i suppose!

the meat was ok, but the door greeter was rude, the salad bar featured limp lettuce and the place is just getting dark and dusty. i won't be back.

definitely has gone downhill within the last coupon years. the service has been bad and the food is awful. cold and the flavour is just gross. will never go back there again

exceptional food. i was greatly impressed with the food and the quality of service, this has become a family favorite. i would highly recommend this establishment.

very dated. wow is this restaurant ever dated. it is in desperate need of a reno. the food was also overpriced and the steak over done with the meat not a good quality cut at all. very dissappointed. the only nice thign was the salad buffet bar; however, it wasn't fresh and the lettuce was very wilty. nice place for an early 80's retro night i guess.

after reading mixed reviews about this brunch buffet i felt i should add our expierience. we had a great breakfast experience with great service and great food. right from our arrival we (family of 5) were well attended to and we all found plenty of food we liked. we will be back for sure.

needs to list sizes of cuts / server cleanliness. portions are huge, when the cut of meat is that big there needs to be ounce sizes on the menu.
also..
i love paying over $30 for an entree and having my server place it down in front of me with chipped nail polish. either wear it and have it look professional or don't wear it at all. also she didn't even have the back of her shirt tucked in and the vest she was wearing looked like something from sirens.
will not be eating here again.

come here for prime rib. come at dinner and order the prime rib sandwich! it's like 22 bucks or something, it includes the soup and salad bar, and steak itself is about 10 oz, comes with toast and fries! awsome prime rib!!! don't add on the neptune option, it sucks, but the cajun is not bad if you are in the mood... the creamed horseradish is actually delicious!?! its like saying their ketchup is is good, but it is!!! anyway... prime rib sandwich, not on the menu, but trust me, after 20 years of coming to this place, i always feel like i'm getting a good value walking out the door!

decent meal, lacking ambience. went with a group of coworkers for dinner. everyone ordered the smuggler's cut and it no one could finish the whole thing. very tasty though if you add extra toppings, however some of my coworkers ordered their steaks medium but they came out more on the rare side. the appetizers were ok only, nothing spectacular. the atmosphere was unique and cozy, but for our group it may have been a little too dull. if there were more "pretty" things to look at or some tvs, that may have livened up the place a bit. definitely a good spot if you're looking for a hearty steak dinner but there's not much else to add to the experience.
