always a great choice!! they have the best prime rib and at a reasonable price too. i always eat too much at the soup and bread and salad bar because it's so good and fresh. the service is excellent. my boyfriend and i have been coming here for 5 years for all our special occasions. i do recommend making reservations on the weekends and plan ahead because the parking lot of always packed.

a calgary landmark and one of the best values in town. i've had pretty much the entire menu. everything's is awesome. obviously the prime rib is king here. i always get the largest cut, end cut and neptune it. my second go to is the chicken neptune dish but i get it cajuned as well. the spice it's the creamy bernaise is like nothing else.

visited with a group of friends over lunch here. hadn't been in smuggler's for decades. its almost exactly as i remember it. :-)  i enjoyed the famous salad bar and added a grilled cheese sandwich. all good. the service was efficient and friendly. smuggler's is a great venue for catching up with friends and/or associates although perhaps a little pricy.

we went to smuggler's for lunch with work yesterday and i really enjoyed my food. the salad bar and soup was also included with the meal. great choice for lunch

this was the best brunch buffet i've ever had. there was so much variety and choice for a very good price. in particular i enjoyed the omelettes made to order, the manicotti, the scones and biscuits, and the desserts. i don't eat meat, but i was so stuffed from all the good things to try! i can't imagine adding sausages, bacon and prime rib. very impressed.

always great to come here for a family dinner. smugglers is very spacious, but some parts of the restaurant is kinda dark. we always come here for a big family dinner when we are craving steak. i like the big salad bar that they have and lots to choose from. our steaks are always done really well, we really haven't had a bad meal here yet. i would recommend this place for a big get together or small :) and especially if you enjoy steak!!!

never a disappointment. the salad bar is amazing. the steak soup is one of a kind. always worth the drive, the wait and the cost. hope this landmark is around for many more years to come.

love this place! food has always been good, and free soup and salad bar with the meal! never leave this restaurant hungry. it truly is quality and quantity! the decor is really neat too! feels like you've gone back to the medieval ages!

my wife and mother in law have been here twice for lunch recently and its a very wholesome meal for a reasonable cost. the soups and salad bar are excellent except it fills you up. i have had the steak sandwich and the beef dip and both satisfied a beef lovers appetite. the service is excellent and you don't have to wait to eat. we used to go here 15 years ago and it is still a great place to eat and you will not go home hungry. i highly recommend it.

man i wish i can take an order of that steak soup to go everyday!! it was the reason we go back each time (not that the main food isn't good) but that steak soup is a must and a wow you need to try as part of the salad and soup bar!

damn this place has such a killer medieval atmosphere and i loved it so much! the chairs are comfy as fuq and their free salad bar is hella good. they have this bacon potato soup that is so killer... i got swordfish which i dont recommend cause this is a steakhouse (idk what i was thinking either) but it did not taste all that good.... i super love the free salad bar they got going on tho.. their bacon potato (had a fancier name) soup was soooo yummmy and the salad is gud!! but i wanna try their ribs if i go back!!

easter brunch. we were very disappointed that they had run out of prime rib by noon on an easter sunday?? we chose this brunch specifically for the prime rib, given that it is the house specialty. no offer of a discount was made. service was fine.

beyond slow. i've always heard good things. our waiter was disoriented and unorganized. we came with reservations. had to wait. once seated it took about an hour to take our order, over another hour for the appetizers and food to arrive. with no communication from the staff on why the wait for the table order drinks and food took so long. we ordered prime rib. mine was filled with fat and my husbands was raw when he ordered medium rare. we finished the baked potatoes long before the chives and sour cream were brought out. overall very disappointed with the food and service. to get the bill was like pulling teeth. it took forever it wasn't right. complete chaos. i will not be coming back.

consistently excellent. our family has been enjoying dinners at smuggler's inn since the 1970's. although we always savour the entrées – my wife and her sisters love the huge portion of perfectly tender bbq beef ribs – the incredible soup and salad bar is always a treat. they've been offering up the same two soups (steak and portuguese bean) since forever and i never tire of them, even though i'm not normally a big soup fan. they are delicious and extremely flavourful. smugglers has recently added caesar salad dressing to their already superb salad bar, and this allows me to make my own caesar-style salad, which i enjoy doing. the servers are always friendly and accommodating, and there is a good reason that they have remained a one-of-a-kind calgary favourite for decades. they are consistently excellent.
