used to be a family favorite, very disappointing now. i grew up going with my whole family to silver dragon whenever my father wanted shrimp toast. we have not been in the last 2 years because my father, who loved it there, had passed away. for my mothers 60th birthday we decided it was time to go back. we wish we hadn't. we do not eat pork and have always clearly started this fact at the beginning of every single meal. we began our order the same as usual no pork and can we start with shrimp toast please? the server informed us that there is pork in their shrimp toast and that despite clearly stating that we aren't permitted to eat pork, we have been for the last 25 years every time we came to this place. that alone was disheartening. but then the service was horrible, our soup came after our meal was finished. everything was dry and tasteless. sadly we will never return to this place, and i personally feel a sense of betrayal after learning that we had been mislead about what we were consuming.

standby for decades. mediocre but safe, the theatre calgary of chinese restaurants. the 4.1 score makes me not trust zomato's reviewers of asian restaurants! (p.s. moved here from toronto in 1976; lived in china briefly.)

psychedelic, radioactive-red, orange sugar-syrup sauces masquerading as chinese food with a shock to the wallet. ordered the fixed rate menu for 6; service was pleasant enough; the tiny portion of soup was good, spring roll served piping hot, with yesterday's leftover food minced to serve as filling.

the horror began as the sauces rolled in: the prawns had an radioactive-red sugar-syrup sauce; the almond chicken a stodgy yellow, with almond dust. needless to say, it was inedible. the rice and noodles were served hot, well-seasoned, no doubt with msg copiously added.

the shock came as the waiter cheerfully announced that i didn't need to tip, since he'd already added 15% to the bill as though white-collar pick-pocketing was a new way to delight customers.

terrible food and management. bad, worse, avoid.. i have to agree to the review below about this place being bad. wow. my family and i are shocked just by how bad the food taste. it is terrible !! over priced.

if you are at banff, just go to the other asian fast food places and they taste better. i would never come back and would advise everyone to stay away !!!!

we visited this restaurant last night after reading other reviews (mixed) and were bitterly disappointed.
we chose the 'menu for 2' which gave a couple of choices for starters and mains. we asked if we could have a different soup to the 2 choices but were told there could be no change - soup??
the deep fried ginger beef was inedible - highlight of the entire meal was the spring roll.
we felt rushed, even though it was less than half full and then were charged a "service fee" - were we supposed to get it ourselves?
service fees, gratuities, tips - whatever term you want to use should be given voluntarily, because you were very happy with your dining experience overall - not automatically built in to the final cost.

big thumbs down.. honestly, this restaurant is the worst. very bad service. service was slow and the food sucked. i didn't even bother waiting for my 4th plate to come out. i asked for the bill and we all left to go eat at the mall. (food at the mall was 10 times better than this place)

if i could rate 3.5, i would have. this silver dragon is different from the one in calgary china town as they don’t do dim-sums but a la carte. i am pretty sure bbq duck was not freshly made in the morning, although the waiter said it was made in the morning. fried rice noodle with beef and veggie was not bad. tomato and veggie soup was quite thin, but tasted ok.

these bad boys however were fan-freaking-tastic. this was my first seafood curry so i will be holding all others against it and it will be tricky to beat. katie agreed the curry was “very yummy” and said while it wasn’t the est green curry she’s had, the hot pot was perfect for sharing.

it's a gem! i don't usuall.... it's a gem!
i don't usually go to chinese restaurant in a touristic destination, but this place is totally worth a try. we ordered some wonton soup, hot and sour soup, beef szechuan, veggie and tofu hot pot, bbq pork foo young and the house special fried rice. all of them are really good and exceed our expectation.
service was excellent, the server named don was super friendly and very accomodating.
totally recommended!!!

egg rolls interesting shells, shu my ok, special rice, shrimp with vegs ok. they forgot my peppered tenderloin in basket and when it arrived lucky for me my wife noticed it wasn't tenderloin. too chewy. asked waiter and he returned with news it was tri tip, not tenderloin. at least he didn't charge us for that. sorry, small tip.

came here for dim sum with my family and parents on a sunday. they were busy but managed to get a table. food was excellent. we had the usuals ha gow, jar leung, chicken feet, siu mai, nor my guy and some more western fare like ginger beef and spring rolls. everything was yummy.

it's been awhile since we had been back here. they have the rolling carts which is always fun. get to see the food before they give it to you. it's a bit on the expensive side - more so then other dim sum places. so if you have a large party expect to pay. i notice that some other tables had regular menu so you can do that as well.

all in all i will be back again.
