psychedelic, radioactive-red, orange sugar-syrup sauces masquerading as chinesefoodwith a shock to the wallet. ordered the fixed rate menu for 6; service was pleasant enough; the tiny portion of soup was good, spring roll served piping hot, with yesterday's leftoverfoodminced to serve as filling.

the horror began as the sauces rolled in: the prawns had an radioactive-red sugar-syrup sauce; the almond chicken a stodgy yellow, with almond dust. needless to say, it was inedible. the rice and noodles were served hot, well-seasoned, no doubt with msg copiously added.

the shock came as the waiter cheerfully announced that i didn't need to tip, since he'd already added 15% to the bill as though white-collar pick-pocketing was a new way to delight customers.

terriblefoodand management. bad, worse, avoid.. i have to agree to the review below about this place being bad. wow. my family and i are shocked just by how bad thefoodtaste. it is terrible !! over priced.

if you are at banff, just go to the other asian fastfoodplaces and they taste better. i would never come back and would advise everyone to stay away !!!!

big thumbs down.. honestly, this restaurant is the worst. very bad service. service was slow and thefoodsucked. i didn't even bother waiting for my 4th plate to come out. i asked for the bill and we all left to go eat at the mall. (food at the mall was 10 times better than this place)

came here for dim sum with my family and parents on a sunday. they were busy but managed to get a table.foodwas excellent. we had the usuals ha gow, jar leung, chicken feet, siu mai, nor my guy and some more western fare like ginger beef and spring rolls. everything was yummy.

it's been awhile since we had been back here. they have the rolling carts which is always fun. get to see thefoodbefore they give it to you. it's a bit on the expensive side - more so then other dim sum places. so if you have a large party expect to pay. i notice that some other tables had regular menu so you can do that as well.

all in all i will be back again.

thefoodmight taste good to only chinese appetite bcoz whenever we ask for something like spicy sauce or chicken dimsums in which server keep saying that "this is how chinese like to eat, chinese people like pork not chicken. when we asked for spicy sauce and we told that this is the spiciest sauce we have and we can't compare with you people, this how the chinese people like to eat."
are they targenting just the chinese market or is this really a multi cultural market!!?
food taste better to the other chinese restaurant and even with courteous service.

this is authentic chinese food, not the westernized overly sweet & overly saucy stuff i'm used to. my hubby and i really enjoyed it! we ordered the wonton soup, juicy pork dumplings, ginger beef, sweet & sour pork, the prawn chow mein, and the bbq pork egg foo yung (we ordered way too much fyi but now we have lots of leftovers). the dumplings & the prawn chow mein were my favourites out if everything.
the service was good & the prices are higher than average but for the quality that you're getting i think it's fair. clean bathrooms fyi. we did get seated right away and the restaurant was very busy . the wait for thefoodwasn't bad especially since it seems like they make every dish fresh to order.
overall, we will definitely go back. i have been there about 2 yrs ago for dim sum and i remember enjoying it.

dim sum yum! love this restaurant for thefoodand the atmosphere. the servers push little carts offoodaround to your table and you can choose which items you want to try and the ceiling is decorated with chinese lanterns. the sticky rice is some of the best in city and there are tons of steamed dishes to try. they also serve friend rice and ginger beef for the less adventurous folk.

over the weekend i was able to try silver dragon's dim sum menu. i remember coming to this place when i was a child so these guys have been around for a while. upon entering the restaurant we were quickly seated with the best seat in the house (close to the kitchen). as we sat down there was already a dim sum push cart in front of us. then another 6 - 7 carts came in a row so we got ourfoodsuper fast. we ordered the curry squid (tasty and flavorful),beef tripe (was okay but didn't have that ginger and onion taste), shrimp dumpling (average), eggplant and shrimp (saucy with lots of shrimp meat), fried shrimp and taro (good but too pasty), and sui mai (more of a lean meat which i preferred). quality here is above average but prices are around $7 dollars a dish. id recommend this place if you're looking to try something new.

i would have rated 3.8 if i could. been here several times, nice atmosphere, busy at lunch time, fairly tasty dim-sum, all the dim-sum are served on thefoodcart for your selection. if you want vegetable dish, will need to tell them, they have a few selections in small portions. you can also order big plate of vegetable.

buyer beware: the triple a. alberta beef (in black bean sauce) on the cover page is $90.00! it is mixed with bell peppers. it is perhaps worth half the price. this server did not warn us although the price was listed on the menu.we weren't charged for 2 cups of hot water, even though it is $1.00 on the menu for hot water/pot.  overall, i thought thefoodwas delicious. perhaps anyone who thought it was bland was used to junk. i liked the simplicity of the spinach chicken mushroom soup. i also like the spinach and garlic sauce.   i liked the red ceiling decorations inside.

i had never eaten here before. my chinese relatives came in so we stopped in for a feast of dumplings, rice, noodles, ginger beef, fish and lobster. it was actually pretty good for calgary. our waiter was helpful and made some good suggestions. thefoodwas pretty fresh and tasty and my relatives from hong kong and toronto were pretty satisfied.

we love coming here for dim sum, we come almost every sunday.foodis consistent and the service is great! they have the carts going all over the room but if you don't see something you want you can ask one of the employees and they'll either go and grab one for you or place an order and bring it to you when it's ready.

this place can get busy on the weekends, if you go in and see a lineup coming down the stairs make sure you go up to the hostess desk and grab a number. the lineup usually moves pretty quickly. to pay, just bring your card up to the cashier at the front when you're done your meal. they accept debit and credit.

when did this place get so expensive?! dim sum is pretty good and so are the dishes but holy, you can get the same quality offoodfor 25% in a lot of the other places in china town! is it just me? anyway, silver dragon has been fairly consistent throughout the years and is definitely worth checking out. the only thing i will say is there isfoodjust as good as silver dragon all across china town!
