i am happy to announce my conversion tomexicanfood, and that transition has not been easy.  my good friend and fellow blogger jill cruz kept after me for months to try this spot, which i successfully avoided like a plague.  having tried all the so called “authentic” spots in town only to find it all tasting the same, i finally caved in.

good food, no atmosphere, expensive beer!. food was similar to mostmexicanrestaurants. did like the salsa bar though. lights are to bright. sign on the window
says $7.99 pints. i thought it was a misprint. pint of beer is $7.99 and then you get one free. i would take that sign
down and just sell $4.00 beer. should be about $2.50 in a fast foodmexicanplace. i probably won't ever go there
again. probably a good place for lunch.

terrible, i will not be going back. very disappointed. chorizo quesadilla barely had any cheese. i could have received better at taco bell. forgot our flan but charged us.mexicanfood is cheap to make i don't even understand why this place would skimp on portions. i didn't know you could post photos on here....now i really wish i had taken a photo of the despicable quesadilla. it cost $8 and it may have been worth $2.

pastor taco and chorizo taco with rice and beans. amazing

cheap eats with friendly service. my husband and i are always on the prowl for new places that offer great quality food made from fresh ingredients for a fair price. if they serve tacos, that's a bonus. our favorite type of tacos are truemexicanstyle tacos (meat, cilantro, onion and lime). came across this one while perusing the urban spoon directory and decided to give it a try (even if it was a 40 minute drive for us). i ordered the number 1 (twomexicanstyle tacos). 1 with carnitas and the other with pastor. my husband ordered the same, but with 2 carnitas. we placed our order and grabbed a table. my husband grabbed a small portion of each of the fresh homemade salsas from the salsa bar. my favorite was the ranchero, my husband favored the habanero.the young lady brought us our complimentary chips (extra charge for take out orders) and the queso we ordered. their queso was delicious and creamy. consistency was dead on. then are tacos were brought up with little wait and we quickly dove in. the carnitas taco was great, but nothing stand out about it from other places we order carnitas from, but the pastor in my opinion was a winner for me. the meat was very juicy and just full of flavor. we quickly ran out of chips and i sent my husband to the counter to purchase another order of chips. the gentleman (who appeared to also be the owner) was more than happy to just refill us on the chips for no charge. we both had a jarritos soda to go with our meal. our taco orders were just $4.99 for 2 tacos which is a great deal to us. most places we get the same type of tacos from average out to about $2.79 per taco. so for 4 tacos (2 each) a cup of queso, 2 baskets of chips, and 2 bottled sodas we paid $17 and some change. a very fair price for what we experienced. i can't wait to go back. i'm looking forward to trying their enchiladas and the 12in burrito, while my husband has his eye on the carne asada meal. we will more than likely start using this as our regular sunday brunch place. the owner told us all about the great drink specials they had every day. we only encountered the owner and the young lady who rang us up and both were just out of this world friendly and made us feel very welcomed. you can tell this place really cares about the customers. we can't wait to take our friends and family to this new spot.

simple and delicious. i live in tallahassee, so of course if i want greatmexicanfood i have to wait until i can drive to jacksonville and eat at si senor. they are terrific, if you like fresh, excellent food, this is the place. on the other hand if you prefer greasy and sad food, tallahassee is just three hours away!.

the thing i like best about this place is how comfortable i felt there. it’s just a simple place with great food. i felt like the staff was friendlier than at othermexicanrestaurants i’ve been to, like casa maria on old st. augustine rd whose staff sometimes makes me feel like they’re doing me a favor by attending to me. there is no pretentiousness at si senor, or the feeling that you are being rushed out the door like i’ve experienced at los portales on belfort rd. and the food here is just better. keep it up, si senor!

closest thing to cali mexican. i've come to find the term "authentic mexican" is used very loosely here in jacksonville. this is not the case, however, at si senor. this is without a doubt the closest thing i've had to themexicanfood i ate when i lived in san diego. no bottled salsa or guacamole mix here, just fresh ingredients with big flavor. the carnitas are excellent; tender, succulent, and not overly salty like many places. the fresh salsa bar is also a big plus. they have 5 or 6 salsas ranging from mild to tongue-numbingly hot! if you live anywhere in jax or are just passing through and want some true authenticmexicancuisine, you must visit si senor.

go there!. if you're looking for good, fast, inexpensive, authenticmexicancuisine - this is it! entrees are very reasonably price ($5.99-up) and chips and salsa are included with every meal. you can add beans, rice, and a drink for $2.99 and it's totally worth it.

this food is great. i had carne asada fries(not on the menu). i literally called 20mexicanplaces in jacksonville looking for carne asada fries and this is the only place that knew what i was talking about. kinda skeptical at first but these carne asada fries and salsa verde are beyond amazing. the carne asada wad so tender.i will be back!
